((AIM log between Akira (Nux) and Angani (Light)))
The sun was setting brilliantly on the African savannah, setting all in existence aglow with its dying warmth. Angani sat beyond the borders of his land, watching it with his double-colored eyes. He knew sunsets were amazing, but it was moonrises that he truly enjoyed. Not surprising, considering his pride. The lion had been doing a border patrol, but stopped to watch the sight. There were no rogues to watch, so he was free to guard as he wished. He watched the last sliver sink and wished he had a certain someone with him...
Angani was beginning to develop a crush on Kathlela, though he hadn't made it obvious to anyone yet. Once the sun had sunk the male rose to his green-swirled paws and set off again, curving around the border to his pride's lands. He was well beyond it, but that had been his intention on this day. He kept his ears perked for intruders, the well muscled lion could definitely dissuade anyone with poor intentions from getting inside.
Dark blue striped paws padded lightly across the soft grasses unaware that they were treading on pridal territory. Purple eyes were fixed upon the darkening sky line as his paws lead him across the lands. Akira was roaming again, wandering aimlessly when he should have been looking for a place to rest, to sleep during the night. However the bright blue male was all too aware that it was highly unlikely for him to get any sleep at all. Most were restless nights where he would wander restlessly, often searching for the life giving liquid. Water.
This night was different, normally he would have at least attempted sleep evening knowing that attempt would most likely end in failure, this time however he had energy dancing it's way through his system. A smile decorated his lips as he watched the sun set lowering his head only to catch the sight of another. Tilting his head he paused staring unsure of the gender of the other feline. He was too far away to make it out and currently stood debating whether to approach or to avoid.
Fortunately, Akira wouldn't have to decide. It turned out that the Pride's border that Ang was patrolling parallel to would put the blue lion directly in his line of sight. Since blue was a common color of his Pride, the sight did not surprise Ang and he headed directly for the figure. When he got close enough, however, to smell that this was not a member of his Pride, he approached slightly more menacingly, in case the stranger was dangerous. He flicked a dangling bit of black mane out of his face before he spoke, when he got close enough.
"Hello there, stranger," His voice was not friendly, yet not threatening. He only wanted to know what the other lion's intentions were, what with him being so close to his pride's lands.
Akira's eyes went wide and the smile disappeared from his lips when the other lion made it's way towards him. At least it wasn't a female, he never dealt well with them. The change in the way the other carried himself put the young male on high alert as he paniced silently. What was he going to do? Should he meet the other halfway? Should he stay where he was? Was he doing something wrong? He simply didn't have any idea of what to do.
When the other spoke to him it forced him to stop pacing mentally. Looking around a bit wildly he forced a large smile to his lips. "Hi!" He replied with a bit too much enthusiasm. He just didn't know what to do.
Angani watched the male's reaction with piercing eyes. The other seemed non-threatening enough, he relaxed his posture but still was prepared in case the stranger decided to pull anything funny. Back to pridal business- he had to take care of that before anything else. After all, that was his duty, right?
"You are aware that you're nearing a pride, right? Keep going East and you'll be there, and unless you're a messenger to our king or intending to join... I'm not so sure I should let you pass." He said. "However, if you don't have any..." he paused for dramatic effect "... ill intentions, you've got nothing to worry about." The last part was said in almost blinding contrast to the first, his voice chipper and light.
"Oh, name's Angani, by the way." His tone had lightened considerably. He deemed this stranger... non-threatening, though he knew from experience that nothing was as it seemed. He was till prepared to take on the stranger, if need be.
Akira met the other's gaze with his own slightly confused one. He kept his gaze mentally jumping for joy when the other relaxed, it meant that he could relax as well, he didn't have to be on such high guard. Obviously he hadn't done anything..."I am?" He responded baffled once more. "To be honest I don't know where anything is or where I'm headed, I just kinda walk..." He mumbled casting his gaze to the ground shrugging his shoulders as he did so. He had done something wrong, or rather he was about to do something wrong without even meaning to. "I'm sorry, had I known that a pride was around then I wouldn't have wandered this way, you see I don't sleep much, so if my being here is a problem please let me know." He quickly stated looking back up with a smile sliding across his lips.
"My name is Akira," he responded chiperly still praying that he wasn't actually in trouble. "Nice to meet you...I think..."
Angani relaxed completely now. Ah, just as I thought, a rogue, he said to himself in his head. He actually found that most rogues were very pleasant and had interesting stories. The male sat back on his haunches, tail flicking casually behind him. His duty was done, he could enjoy himself now. "Oh no, you're fine!" Ang said to Akira with a sheepish grin. "Just my job to warn outsiders that they're getting close, that's all." Ang could be so menacing... And yet, he was really a softie at heart. He thought for a moment on the blue lion's words.
"Must be a pretty nice life, just going where your paws take you. Not the kind of life for me, mind you, I rather enjoy pride life, but it really suits some lions," he said to Akira. "I don't sleep much either, myself, so I know what you mean about that. I have to stay awake for days on end for my job, sometimes," he told the rogue with a hearty laugh.
