Some may think "Tea? Oh! I drink tea too" and they whip out a bottle of overly sweeted stuff in a bottle that doesn't even taste remotly like tea. That stuff is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the good stuff, the pu erh, oolong, white, green teas, and not forgetting tisanes like honeybush, roobios, fruit, and herbals. Does anyone else have a love of real tea (meaning not bottled and full of sugar and stuff)? What is your favorite type? Where do you get your tea? I know that there's a small community of tea lovers over at Adagio's Tea Chat but to tea lovers lurk in a history guild as well?

My sister keeps Mom supplied with Darjeeling, and every once in a while, I'm able to find Twining teas (family connection has nothing to do with it, damnit! sweatdrop ) In the local Korean market they sell honey-citron tea, and blackberry tea. Those are my favorites (although the blackberry tea is something to get used to). Herbal is another favorite, Celestial Seasonings. Once in a while, if none of the above are available to me, I'll have Lipton decaf with a dash of honey and lemon juice.

I prefer green tea with citrus.
I think people don't like tea because it's usually an acquired taste, and they're to lazy or don't care enough to acquire it. confused

No, I think they're just too hooked to the caffeine in their coffee.

That and energy drinks.
I'm talking about what she said with over-sweetened teas, with the sugar outweighing natural benefits, and it isn't much like tea.

Yes. This is why I don't drink sweetened iced tea. Stuff sends shivers through my mouth.

Seriously! I went to Panera Bread last week and asked for iced green tea. Okay, I didn't expect it not to be sweetened but this didn't even taste like green tea, it also tasted very fruity. I give kudos to Starbucks for actually letting you taste the tea.

Usually the places with real tea are the non-chain tea shops. There's a tea lounge near me that my brother likes for its tea that's both good and real tea.
As for me, I usually just make my own tea.

I also like to make my own.. There are no tea shops near me, it's all over-run by Starbucks and other coffee shops (anyone ever heard of Saxby's?). But the local Korean market sells stuff like honey-citron tea, ginger tea, blackberry honey tea, etc. Stuff's real good!

I'm not really a "tea guru," so I don't have any specific brands or styles I prefer or am loyal to. When drinking tea it's usually just any type of black tea.

Yeah, not many people drink straight black tea anymore.

As far as teas go, I think it's black tea that I prefer. At any rate, I only like hot tea. I can't stand cold tea.
Honestly, though, I prefer coffee. blaugh
