I'm sorry if i am posting alot, or if theres a topic about this.
I am currently borrowing a Yamaha Trombone. It's not so good..... My MP won't fit, its a Faxx 12c. I asked my BD, he said: Best brands(His op.) : Yamaha Bundy Conn Back Prelude Selmer
Worst brands(His op.) : King Blessing Layfayette Besson Olds Reynolds Roth Martin Holton Cecillo Huttle Jupiter Cleveland
"Blessing...And the others you listed are not good brands becuase they are prone to breaking and cheaply made..."
My dad doesn't want to buy a new mouthpiece.... -_- Should I get a new MP or just stick w/ it? Its a large shank.
Does any body own the brands he doesn't think are good?
Thank you!!! HM

Get a new mouthpiece. You can't do anything without a good mouthpiece. Try getting one thats made by the same people as the trombone, it helps with the fit.

Thanks, what Trombone do you use? Is Selmer any good?? I also read that theres a Mp called "Bach 6 1/2 ", its a large shank, would it be best for Tenor Trombone? I also read that a Bach 7C would be good for a 7th grader. I'd need a new mp and I NEED a new trombone. (The trombone I am using is the school's.I want to have a Trombone I can rent then own.) (Sorry if I am asking too many questions, I'm a sort of a beginner..)

I've had a Bach since I started, with a Bach mouthpiece. The rest of my section plays on Yamaha, which is also good. If you have a music store near you, they'll usually let you rent and then buy the same instrument. So you know the exact instrument you'd be buying. Or you can just keep it as a rental. As for mouthpieces, it would depend on your ability and instrument, Go with the same brand of mouthpiece as your trombone, it'll be easier. If you're buying at a store, ask for a recommendation from the people who work there. They'll probably be the most helpful, as they know what they have in stock, And they can assess what'd be best for you. Hope that helps!

I believe I am going to a music center today. The brand I want most is either a King,Bundy,or Bach. Is it true that Kings and Blessings are cheaply made? A trombonist in our band has a King and it doesn't look ruined/broke. Blessings, at music and arts, are pretty expensive. I believe a Saxophone for what? 300$+. Plus, I don't believe Blessing has the colour I need for band(Gold bell,Gold Outer slide,Silver/Chrome inner slide). Also, is it possible to remove the tuning slide on a Yamaha Trombone?? I can't get it off(Not that I need to.), its like....Glued or burned...IDK. ~HM

I've had my king trombone for 4 years, and it hasn't broken once. King is a great brand, and has served me well for 4 years... 3nodding
As for your mouth piece problem, you shouldn't need to get a new instrument, just because your mouth piece doesn't fit... Try a different mouth piece....

Try a different mouth piece.... Well, I have to get a new Trombone(The trombone's the school's,.). Anyway, I tried afew trombones today at Russo Music center: A King(Which was in a Conn's Case...O_o) and a Bach. I first tried the king, I really liked it(606 Model) BUT. The Slide lock was like, jammed(But that maybe the store's fault lol).. But I got it unlocked. Then I tried the Bach.I didn't like the Slide lock, I was afraid I may not get the lock right, and the slide will come off...(o.o) But I LOVED the Case! Same with the Conn case. xD Which looked kinda odd o.o' it looked like a King 606's case, but a weird bell part of the case... I asked about how much a new MP would be.... 60 or around 50$ for a size around 6 MP... .-. My dad said he would talk to my grandma, but thats not important, I really want the King one. You see, I want to have one I can own, not one I have to give back. ~HM

Wouldn't that make it a F attachment? the other Kings I saw on Kingwinds.com , were Yellow/Gold or copper bells, and sliver slides. You see, my school isn't the school that doesn't care what colour instrument you have(Ex:Silver Trumpet,Gold flute,Silver and gold french horn,copper trombone,Black Sax.). We need to have: Trombone-Gold bell,Gold outer slide,silver inner. Trumpet:Gold Flute:Silver/Platinum(sp?) Horn:Gold Alto Sax/Tenor:Gold Clarinet:Wood Oboe:Wood Baritone:Gold Anway, A King Pro. looks like this(I cannot have it.) : http://www.kingwinds.com/content/detail.php?item=2102PLG (21202PLG) (Silver slide) http://www.kingwinds.com/content/detail.php?item=2104 (2104) (Brass Bell) KING I want/need: http://www.kingwinds.com/content/detail.php?item=606(606) ~HM (Ps: I am a 7th grader, I don't believe I can use a Pro. plus, I am a beginner... xDD)

I don't particularly care for Yamaha. My student trombone is from Yamaha, and it's not as reliable as I want it.
I also own a Bach 42B (Open Wrap, With F Trigger Attachment), and I love it to death. I play on a Bach 6 1/2 AL Mp.

Then the bass trombone and alto trombone I borrow occassionally are both bach...I think. Well, mouth pieces are all a matter of personal preferance to be honest. Try not to pay too much attention to things which say, "this mouth piece is good for this" yeah there are some things you need certain mouth pieces for, but generally it all depends on what you're comfortable using. Like, I have quite a big mouthpiece and I can get the high notes on it fine...one of the guys I play with needs a smaller mouthpiece or he can't hit the notes. Just try a couple of different types and sizes and find which works for you.

The Faxx 12c mp (I use that mp) , won't fit in in mp receiver(Yamaha's), its too large. I know King and Bach fit the Faxx 12C fine(Even though it won't fit in all the way, but its not loose like when I put the mp into the Yamaha trombone mp receiver) . Thanks, HM
