On the right side of the main staircase in the Entrance Hall, the Hufflepuff common room is down the stairs, below the grounds and near the kitchens. A password is needed to open the hidden entrance.

Addriene peeked her head into the entrance to the common room and let out a sigh of relief when she realized that she was the only one in there. Dinner had been terrible. Yes, they did get a new Hufflepuff. Yes, the food was delicious. No, Luis had not come over at all during the feast. Was their yearly tradition null and void now?
Ever since Addriene's second year and Luis' third, she had had a small crush on the older boy. She didn't even deter from her liking him when he announced he was gay at the end of the year. She always had high hopes that she could sway him back from the Land of the Rainbows. Realizing that wouldn't work while Luis was with Judas - she thought the name with a scowl.
Addriene walked swiftly to an armchair directly in front of the fireplace and sat down, kicking off her shoes, and drawing her knees to her chest. She wrapped her lanky arms around them and laid her chin in the crevice between them. The fire's warmth washed over her, welcoming her into it's warm atmosphere.
A small mewl came from beside her and Addriene turned to her kitten Soap who had just jumped up on the arm of the chair. With a small smile, Addriene removed one arm from around her legs and stroked his back. Soap arched up into her hand and started to purr loud, like a Muggle motorbike. Addriene smiled at her kitten.
"Soap, love, what does Judas have that I don't? Well...except for the obvious anatomical part that Luis is greatly attracted too?"Realizing she was a bit mental for talking to a cat, Addriene shook her head. "Wow. I have really lost it. I'm talking to a cat. Not that your not a smart cat,"Addriene quickly added when Soap gave a sound of distaste.
Soap rubbed again her hand once more and jumped off the arm, running to her dormitory. Realizing that she should turn in soon, Addriene looked back at the fire.
The attack tonight at dinner had been the worst that she had had all summer. Usually only part of an eye would loose sight, tonight it had been both for at least two minutes. In only four years, she would completely loose her sight. All because of a terrible potions accident.
Letting out a sigh, Addriene continued to stare into the fire, willing it to envelope all her problems and take them away.

Still yawning as he climbed into the Common Room via a hole located behind a still-life down near the kitchens, Makoto nearly missed the figure curled up near the fire. Halfway to the boys' dormitory, he did a double-take and turned back to look closer, curious. 'She's a Fourth Year, right?' he mused, trying to locate the girl's name in his currently only partially-functioning memory. "Addriene?" he called softly, not wanting to disturb her should she be asleep or uninterested in talking. After all, she appeared to be the quiet type, from what he had seen of her in his three years at Hogwarts.

Hearing someone call her name, Addriene snapped out of her trance and looked over the edge of the couch. A third year was standing there, looking at her. "Yes? That's me. You're...Makoto...right?"
Feeling a little drowsy at the effects of the warm fire's heat, Addriene yawned, her mouth opening wide. Slapping her hand over her mouth, Addriene squinted her eyes. She had never liked these yawns, they were always painful for her jaw.

Smiling at the older girl, Makoto moved closer to the fire's warmth. "Yup, that's my name. You all right?" Careful to tread carefully with his words, he tried not to look overly concerned. She appeared to have been a bit out of it when he entered the Common Room, but she may just have been homesick or something. Yawning shortly after Addriene, he chuckled. "Careful, those are contagious," he joked, settling into an armchair across from her, head comfortably resting on one arm with his hands laced behind it, and his legs draped over the other.

Addriene returned the third year's smile. "Yes, I'm alright. And even if I wasn't...well...my problems are not for young ears,"she said, giving Makoto a cheeky smile. When Makoto yawned, she yawned in reply and smacked her hand over her mouth. "You're right, they are contagious."Addriene giggled a little at the last statement. Trying not to seem shocked at her little outburst, Addriene sighed inwardly. She must seriously be out of it if she were giggling. She should probably go and turn in soon. "I'm going to head on up to bed. See you tomorrow I guess,"with another smile, Addriene stood up and stretched her arms high. Her hip, right elbow, and left wrist cracked with the strectching and she tried not to moan. Addriene always loved it when she popped any part of her body, it always made her feel more relaxed.
Addriene turned and walked to the dorms, Soap trailing in her wake

Makoto frowned at Addriene's comment about 'young ears'. After all, he was only a year below her. However, he decided to let it go, as she obviously wasn't interested in discussing whatever it was. He sighed, watching her head to the girls' dorms, and decided he probably ought to turn in soon as well. Removing his glasses and wearily rubbing his eyes, he swung his legs off the arm and stood, stretching slowly before slouching off towards the boys' dorms. 'Hopefully I won't be this exhausted in the morning... After all, classes start tomorrow.' At this last thought, he groaned.

Angel came into the common room, happy to see the familiar yellow and black colors and hangings. She loved the common room: it was so inviting and relaxing. Her favorite part was the fact that the armchairs were so overstuffed that when you jumped into one, there was a good chance that you might just jump out because the force of your original jump would push you out.
She knew that she needed to head up to the girls' dormitory to sleep, but for some reason she didn't. Instead, she flopped down on the nearest couch and relaxed, not really sleeping even though she was tired. She really had no idea why she did that, but she wasn't about to get up. The couch felt so good under her, like a giant pillow.

Sasha entered the common room, her mood instantly lifted by it's home-y, friendly appearance. She giggled when she saw Angel stretched out on the couch, and then immediately felt bad for the way she'd been cold to her at dinner. She walked timidly over to her and plopped down on an overstuffed armchair that was near to the couch, crossing her legs and smiling. "Hey, Angel, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry about the way I acted at dinner. It was nothing personal, I guess I was just in a lousy mood tonight." She shrugged, tilting her head apologetically. "It's really nice to see you, though! How was your summer? Any juicy stories I should know about?" She grinned, wiggling her eyebrows.

Angel had been simply starring into space when Sasha walked into the common room and sat down near her. When she heard Sasha greet her, she turned her head and said, "Oh it's no big deal" she said happily. She sat up and leaned forward to give Sasha a big hug. Angel loved giving hugs, but was not feeling energetic enough to get off the couch to do it, so it probably wasn't the best hug ever. "My summer was the same as last summer: just babysat my brother and sister while my dad worked. I wish we had the money to go somewhere, but I guess I'm lucky that my dad can afford tuition here." It was no secret that Angel's family was rather on the poor side, but they were honest people and worked hard, and were thus well-liked. But sometimes, it left Angel wondering how her father would manage to pay for the tuition of the twins if he could barely afford to pay for just hers. "Sorry no juicy news on my part." Angel continued, "Though the Slytherins' gossip is rather interesting, even though I only heard snippets of it. How was your summer?"

Sasha returned the hug and nodded sympathetically when Angel said her family hadn't gone anywhere. "Yes, we stayed home as well. I did get to visit Ana and Olien for a week, and that was fun, I suppose. But no juicy gossip to share. And yes, I'm sure the Slytherins always have their hands full of shocking scandals," she laughed. "We'll just have to make sure we fill this year with plenty of antics to rival them! Any ideas?"

Padding softly through the winding underground tunnel towards the common room and its inviting fire, Pepper's ears twitched at the sound of Makoto's housemates chatting up ahead. She sauntered into the large room, her clean black coat shining just a bit in the firelight. Pausing in front of the two girls, she sat back on her haunches and waited for them to notice her, head tilted slightly to the side as if concentrating intently on their conversation. While her back itched, she was too proud to give in and scratch it herself. Surely she could convince one of these girls to do it for her.

Waiting for Angel's reply, Sasha happened to glance down and was surprised to see a small black cat sitting and peering up at her, looking as if she wanted something. Sasha smiled delightedly and bent over, holding out a hand for the cat to sniff, allowing her to make sure Sasha was all right. Sasha whispered, "Hello, Ms. Cat. What's your name?" The cat was very pretty, with its sleek and shiny black coat. Sasha thought she vaguely recognized the cat, but couldn't think for the life of her who it belonged to. I think... it's a boy's cat. But which one?

When the brown haired girl with strange eyes reached towards her, Pepper's head moved forward just a bit as she delicately sniffed the offered appendage. Had she been less preoccupied at the moment, she might have preened at the girl's obvious appreciation. She purred as her tongue darted out to lap at Sasha's hand. Merely blinking at the girl's question, Pepper proceeded to gently butt at Sasha's hand with her head. 'Pet me.' She thought haughtily.
