'On a scale of 'stuck in a summer storm' to 'dancing with a kalona', how much trouble will I be in when Papa realizes I've gone dancing off into the blue again? Kaishara Immareska mused to herself, equal parts amusement and vague concern. Her father had a tendency of being over-protective, especially after the last fiasco. It wasn't his fault, he just wanted what was best for her, and her sister. He wanted them safe and happy and within reach... But Kaishara was her father's daughter, and she was unlikely to stay 'within reach' when the day was so beautiful and the world so welcoming.

This was not the sort of day to spend tucked away in a cave or a hidden glade in the forest. The day was beautiful and bright, the wind was calling her name... Kaishara figured she had languished in despair long enough. She was ready to live her life again, to forget about the things that lay behind her. Sorrows were not forever, and to day was a new day. Anything was possible, so she was going flying.. There was a nearby grove of apple trees that she recalled visiting before, that seemed like an excellent place to start.

With a joyous flare of her wings and a pleased whistle, the black wind mare spiraled out of the sky. The bold rush of wind whipped her mane back and bannered her tail, making her laugh joyously as she angled her wings and gently pulled out of the dive. She landed light as a feather, grinning as dandelion puffs scattered 'wishes' into the air.

Making this a habit would never do... Kaishara silently admitted to herself as she pranced through the woods toward the glade. Her father was protective -perhaps overly so- and didn't want her rambling about on her own so soon after...

Plenty of time to think about that later... She decided, kicking up her heels in a canter. "Come on Adventure!"

Sohalia had been 'on rest' since the incident. And it wasn't that she didn't appreciate Akemi's kindness. She loved him more then anything. But he wasn't able to be with her all the time. She needed to start getting back on her hooves and taking care of her self. But now Sohalia from herself a father then expected distance from the cave that she was staying on.

Her legs ached, her wings were bandaged and splintered. Her spelt was starting to grow back and she was hoping to avoid scarring with the ointment that Akemi brought but she wasn't to sure how things was going work out. But now she stood at the bottom of an apple tree trying to reach the apples but she simply couldn't.

In her frustration she didn't hear the other mare that was in the air landing. She huffed and strained herself just a bit more much and then there was a snap and she recoiled. "Ouch~!" She shuddered from the pain and sighed. Her misty silver hair slid over her shoulders as she looked down at the ground trying to find a salvageable apple on the ground.

Every once in awhile it struck her sad that she had so few friends "on the wing" to fly with... Though happily cantering through the woods, at the moment Kaishara desperately missed her little sister, as Masque was good company even if it was rare indeed that she made a spectacle of herself. Shy and somewhat reserved, that was Masque, but since the woods seemed empty there was a chance she'd join in a song. But she had plans to day. Plans! And hers didn't involve avoiding an over-protective father.

Lucky her. Still, the apples were her favorite too, and when they had more time in the future maybe Kaishara would suggest that they they travel here on foot. It would be a good way to spend the day and get them out from under their father's wing.. Still, that was another day. Today? Maybe she'd make a new acquaintance, and they could go on flights together now and again...

Kaishara quit her foolish capering when she realized there was someone present in the apple glade.. She also managed to slide to a more sedate pace just before entering the open glade, rather than flailing her way into the other mare like some foolish foal. Which was good, because even bandaged the mare was stunning and very clearly injured. A collision was therefore not ideal.

And apparently all that noise was not enough to quite attract the other mare's attention, but she seemed in pain and Kaishara was moving toward her before she could even think to do otherwise. "I'm so sorry for my intrusion, but are you alright?"

The young mare hadn't fully learned that she needed to be aware of her surroundings. After all she came to the earth for Akemi and he was suppose to always protect her. So those 'little' things the still new to Earth Angeni hadn't learned. It wasn't until she heard the voice of the other make that she realized there was someone else there.

The voice startled her and she jerked her head to look at the other horse and then winced from the sudden movement. The other mare didn't look aggressive and was asking after her well being, this meant that she was concerned.

"Just recovering from an accident..." Her voice was soft and was carried by the wind. Her silver eyes glanced at the mare and then back toward the apples. "I hadn't realized how tall the trees actually were." She gently laughed but recoiled as it jostled her injured ribs.

"I'm not in your way am I? I was just hoping to get some apples to bring home with me so that my Ma... My friend wouldn't have to go get us something to eat later." She smiled lightly, truly hoping she wasn't in the other mares way.

Kaishara hesitated just beyond wing-reach, hoping that she was safe from accidental injury if she startled the mare. It wasn't her intention, but one never knew how these things would go. Still, while she waited for the mare to respond she examined the stranger, tilting her head slightly.

"I am sorry to hear you were injured, but I hope you are doing better." She offered hesitantly, glancing up at the apples.

The mare's question made her ears swivel forward, but she shook her head quickly. "No, you're not in my way at all. I confess I was actually just wandering about for a bit, and I remembered the grove was here."

She fluffed one wing in a faint shrug. "I thought it would be nice to stop for a treat. Since you are recovering, perhaps I could be of some assistance to you? I wouldn't mind reaching for them, or flying for some of the higher ones. That way you could still take some home to your friend? Perhaps you and I could also have one or two and pass a bit of time before I head homeward again?"

She glanced upward again. "I remember them being quite tasty."

Sohalia looked over at the tree and then to the other mare. She didn’t want to be in inconvenience for this mare but at the same time she was hungry and as if right on que… Her stomach growled. Her ears flattened and her silver eyes glanced to the ground. “I’d hate to be a bother… “ She spoke softly. “But I would be so grateful. I was hoping to fill this basket here.” She smiled at the other mare meekily. Akemi could have quiet the appetite. “If you’d just hold down one of the branches a bit I can still do most of the work.”

She gave a small nod to the other mare and carefully took a few steps back. “And have a treat with you afterwards sounds wonderful. I haven’t been able to really chat with anyone in a while since I’ve just started being able to be on my own. “ Sohalia watched the other mare for a moment. She seemed really sweet and it was so wonderful of her to offer to help. She had to think of a way to repay this mare.

Kaishara smiled sweetly, trying to look as harmless as she felt. She meant this lovely mare no ill-will, on the contrary it was just the opposite. But she was no unicorn, with a healing horn... Not even an alicorn, with moderate healing ability. So since she could not help in that way, she would do the next best thing. She would instead do the harder work, so the wounded mare wouldn't have to. Even a flight up to the treetops to obtain the apples would be no chore for her, the same could not be said for this lovely lady.
"Not a bother at all." She assured, glancing at the basket. "It would be a pleasure to help and I'd be glad of the company. Filling the basket will be no chore at all, with good wings and some light conversation."

She smiled at the mention of the other mare doing the work and nodded. "Suits me well enough, I can always fly for more of them if there is a need. But the friendly conversation would be most appreciated. I have been away from my family for quite some time, and it is always lovely to make a new friend."

She paced to a suitable branch and gave a half-rear, catching the end of the branch with her teeth and drawing the branch down with her as her forelegs touched back down. Folding her wings Kaishara gritted her teeth against the wood and when she was sure it wouldn't fly loose she flicked bright blue eyes to the mare. A moment of consideration make her take another half-step back, which dragged the branch a bit lower, bringing several apples within reach.

'That should do it.'

Sohalia smiled at the mare. “That does indeed sound like a plan.” The injured mare watched the other lovely mare move forward and grab a branch for her. She got a good one that had many apples on it and the other mare was gentle enough that she didn’t knock any apples down either. Soha went right in and started plucking the apples and placing them into the basket. It took her a few minutes to clear the branch. The issue with apples is they don’t keep very long after they’re off the branch so it was wasteful to get too many.

When she placed the last one in the basket she nodded to the other mare letting her know she could release the branch. The angeni felt tired from the work but it was good, after doing this a couple more times she’ll start to get back into her daily routines.

“So you mentioned your family. Do you live with them?” She seemed to run into a lot of horse with families of their own or horses that still lived with their parents. “I stay with my companion, we’ve been together since the accident. You’re the first horse other than him, that I’ve spoke too in a while.”

Kaishara nodded and grinned, her eyes twinkling merrily. She was glad to be of help, of course, and making new friends was always lovely. Perhaps at the end of the day she could call this lovely stranger a friend. It had been so long since she'd wandered on her own and been or felt like, herself... This was the first step in that journey, and she'd revel in every moment of it.

So she carefully held the branch and craned her head to tug it gently when it seemed like a lovely apple was maybe too much of a stretch for her new companion. She wouldn't pry about how the injuries had occurred, but they seemed like they had been serious at one time. Still, the mare seemed happy and pleasant, so she was likely healing well.

Dragged out of her musings by the nod, Kaishara gave a nod of her own and gathered herself into another rear, gently letting the branch loose when she was sure it wouldn't snap free and hit her or the other mare... It also meant the unpicked apples didn't fly about or shoot loose... Which was good, all around!

"I pass a lot of time in the company of my father and at least one of my sisters." Kaishara replied agreeably. "We and a few other clans have taken to living in a certain stretch of wood, as it has many glades and is on the river. A solitary two-legger lives out there, she is a healer and an herb woman and what some call a Shaman... We go to her if we need healing or help, and she takes our help in return. But no, I do not precisely live with my family."

She wondered a bit about the companion, whom Sohalia was so careful about speaking of, but didn't pry. "Well, I am glad to be the first among your new friends, then."

Sohalia tilted her head lightly when the other mare spoke. She didn’t live with her family. She was with other clans. That was a curious thought. A nice one though. She would be able to interact with many other horses and feel comfortable around them and safe. She nodded lightly and smiled. “That does still sound lovely.” She nosed her stormy cloud colored mane from her eyes. “I was born here on Earth but I went to Heaven with my father and lived here until the accident. “ She spoke softly as she nosed at the apples in the basket into better positions and then moved to join the other mare. “Though I do rarely see any of my family but my father also on occasion. I have a sister and brother who I haven’t seen since I was a foal. “

Their lives where a bit different but she felt comfortable with this mare. She nodded her an apple hoping she would in fact stick around to chat and eat in the warm afternoon sun. It was strange, taking to this mare was so different then Akemi… It just felt different and almost better. Akemi would fret so much that Soha stopped sharing everything. But now there was a weight lifted from her shoulders talking to this lovely mare. She was like a roaming rose. Soha smiled to herself as she waited for the other mare to select the spot they would rest and talk with some apples. “I have to say I’m a bit envious of your life style.” She admitted to the other mare., the grass was always greener on the other side.

Stepping back and admiring the apple tree for a moment, Kaishara silently agreed it was a simple task.. But a job well-done. A small spark of pride bloomed in her chest, as she felt they had both been careful -,mindful- of the land. One of the Elders she had once crossed paths with had advised her to be so, and she hoped the lesson had stuck. Shaking her wandering thoughts off, she attempted to focus on the discussion at hand.

"It is rather like having extended family, I think." Kaishara offered after a moment of thought about the unofficial herd. "I do not know my mother, or brother... She took him away long ago... And though my father settled with another mare and had three more children, I see her and my brother rarely. That leaves me with my father and two half-sisters for the most part."

She wouldn't trade Masque or Chaci for anything though, and her affection filled her voice. "But aside from them, the Silver Clan is now four generations strong... All handsome stallions. One of which I grew up with, viewing his father as something of an affectionate (and tolerant) Uncle... And his son is something like a nephew... The fact that he too is now a father to a grown son and I have no children of my own seems somewhat silly at times... But they are all dearly loved."

"There is also a pair, like the eldest Silver, and their son who are all from a distant land. Though they are strangers here they have come to call this place home and looked after me in my youth. Most of them are ground-walkers, but the son is a Unicorn and some of the mares that have become entangled with the family have wings or the gift of healing or both... It is an unorthodox clan, but a merry one."

She listened to Sohalia's words and tried to imagine Heaven, but gave up in a moment. "I am sorry you do not see your family often, but if having a friend helps..."

Kaishara trailed off with a hopeful smile and selected an apple, gesturing a wing to a spot in the shade -or sun, if the other was so inclined- so they could settle and talk. Settling herself in the shade so her black coat was not soaking up all the heat, she began to eat the apple daintily.

"Envious?" She echoed, surprise in her gaze. "Oh, I don't think you should be. I've had the poor taste to give my heart to the wrong stallion and get it trampled... I've lost my way a bit, confused about who I am... And while I am trying desperately to fix my mistakes and right things... I am still afraid there is a friend or two who have not forgiven me... But I do dearly love my family, and they are chiefly built of friends."

She gave a sudden smile. "And if you would like, I would be happy to introduce you to them one day... So you may call them your friends as well. I am sure they would very much enjoy a chance to meet you."

With a glance to the sky, Kaishara paused before selecting a second apple. "I am not keeping you from your companion, I hope? It seems like a lovely, quiet sort of life... I may in fact be jealous of you!"

Soha settled in with her new friend sitting in the sun but it would soon become shaded as the sun shifted while Kaishara spoke. Sohalia nodded softly as she listened and smiled at the idea of the larger family, even if it wasn’t ‘perfect’ it was still perfect in its own way. Soha took a bite from an apple and she enjoyed the crisp flavors as the mare chatted. When the attention came back to her Soha glanced down. She did wish she was closer with her family, that she could have the same form that her new friend had. But it just wasn’t meant to be. Her mother has a new mate and she had no idea about her brothers.

“I’m sure with time all will be forgiven. “ Sohalia couldn’t see why any horse would hold a grudge against this mare. Especially now when she was making attempts to reconcile. “I would very much like to meet your family.” She was sure they would be welcoming.

“Oh goodness no!” Sohalia laughed and then winced lightly. “His name is Akemi and he is off doing whatever it is that he does during the day. Possibly visiting with his children…” Soha tried not to linger on that idea. It wasn’t the children’s fault. “We met in a dream.” She smiled softly, finishing off her apple.

Kaishara smiled at her new companion, keeping a careful eye on how the mare settled herself. She hated the idea of causing the other mare any pain, even if it was something as simple as a twinge to her ribs because of how they settled. Still, Sohalia seemed comfortable as they settled in, so she gave the mare another soft smile and fluffed her wings as she talked about her unusual 'family'. It would be nice to introduce a new friend to her unusual little Clan, the Silvers and Fayths and Phantoms were always fond of making new friends.

"You are very kind to say so." Kaishara murmured. "And I think that my sisters would be overjoyed at the idea of adventurous travel with a new friend and a lovely apple orchard at the end. My father and the SilverClan would also quite enjoy the chance to meet you... Perhaps when you are well, you could pay us all a visit in our home glade? And your companion, if you would both like? It is along the river and very lovely in early spring, all scattered with flowers."

She let the topic bide awhile, nibbling away at another apple and basking in the pleasant ambiance of the moment. Sohalia's denial that Kaishara kept her from her companion made the wind mare relax further, relief flashing through her blue eyes. "I am so glad to hear that. It would be a terrible thing for a friend to do, delaying you from getting back to him! I shouldn't want to cause trouble."

In most cases, anyway. If a lady was inspired to spend time with her fellow females, rather than her gentleman, then that was the lady's choice. And with a little notice, Kaishara was sure her sisters could be along for an all-girl's adventure too. Perhaps they'd take Sohalia swimming in the sea when she was better, it was one of their newer entertainments. Plenty of time to bring that up later.

"Well, I am doubly glad to have found you then... Since your Akemi is otherwise indisposed, and I have the pleasure of making your acquaintance." Kaishara smiled, tilting her head in a question. "You met, in a dream? How interesting... And if you don't mind my saying so, that sounds utterly romantic."

As soon as the words slipped out, she coughed and bowed her head, hiding behind the flowing blue curtain of her mane. There was safety behind the silken curtain, and she could try and hide the fact that she was blushing like a silly little filly.

"Sorry for my saying so..." She murmured, lifting her chin to meet Sohalia's gaze once more. "It isn't my place to speak to such things... And I certainly wouldn't want to pry by asking! But you can't blame me for going a bit star-eyed at such a mysterious hint of a story."

She shifted faintly and nibbled gingerly at an apple, considering the matter for a moment in silence. "If you happened to want to share the story, or an abbreviated version, I am not at all opposed to hearing it. As I said, it sounds absolutely lovely."

Sorry for the delay DX

“Oh that sounds like it’d be a wonderful time. And of course you’d be invited to visit with us! We don’t have much, but it would be nice to have some company here.” She dipped her head graciously to the other mare. “That’s what Akemi has told me, so here’s to hoping for a lovely flourishing spring.”

When Kaishara keyed in at the meeting in a dream, Sohalia did her best to hold back a hearty laugh. “Ooh… I guess it is kind of a romantic story when I think back of it.” She laughed more when Kaishara hide her face because she was blushing. “Well hey now. If you can’t share these stories with another mare, a friend. Then who can you?” She winked at the other mare.

“I think it’s about time to share my story with someone.” And who better than her new wonderful companion to be the first to hear it? “So long as you have the time for it. I’m sure by the end you’ll have plenty of questions.” Sohalia reached over and took another apple as she waited to make sure that Kaishara had the time and to also get her thoughts straight on the matter. She and Akemi had a complicated history.

“When I was old enough I returned to the heavens to live. Life here on Earth just wasn’t suiting me. My brothers went their own ways and my father, as wonderful of a stallion he is, not really one to settle into one place, you know? And my mother found a new love and wanted to start another family there. So I went to Heaven and learned to use my powers. The stronger the moonlight the easier it was for me to see into a horses dream. But only one dream a night… It didn’t take long for me to a bright star in the sea of dreams that turned out to be Akemi’s.” She mused over the beginnings of their relationship.

“I started to appear in his dreams each night but I never approached him. He was just magnificent in his human form… As second generation Angeni we don’t have human forms, but that doesn’t stop us from dreaming… “ She winked at the other mare. “Finally about a 4 days in, Akemi spoke to me, most others as I had learned don’t notice the dream walkers. Soon, we started conversing on a nightly basis… And a good year went by. It was the only thing I had to look forward too. Things were good and then the talk of being together in the physical world came… “ She exhaled and looked down. “There was some miscommunication that happened that caused a big rift between us. “
