......................... // Familie / Micah Deusi :: College student on hiatus from official school for obvious reasons, and Nadir's Broer. He's rather on the shy side among people he doesn't deem himself close to, and even if he's good friends with them, he's still shy. He only seems to be 'normal' around Nadir, and when he's doing his journalism thing. He's been trying to help out the Institute by submitting his work to any newspaper who would look at it, but having not even officially graduated from college yet, he's finding it a bit hard to be taken seriously. He seems more interested in the workings of things than the actual end result, which gets him in trouble sometimes. A packrat.

......................... // Cultuur / Nadir's people appear to be family-unit oriented... but strangely not parent oriented. When asked, Nadir simply says that all of the adults in her.. well, tribe might be a good word.. were her parents. That might be why she insists on calling me her brother.
Otherwise, hers seems to be a nomadic people, travelling around and not having a recognizable 'home base' of any sort.
They might be useful-craft oriented besides the needed hunting and gathering. Toys for children and tools for adults.. or this is what I assume, from watching Nadir and asking a question or two. As soon as her more dexterous pair of hands could handle it, she has been making toys for herself, shunning the store-bought things I get for her after the first day. Personally, I think she only pays attention to them that first day because she doesn't want to offend me.
As for inter-tribe behavior or religious structure, Nadir can't remember much of anything meaningful about those yet. She seems obsessed with the Now more often than with the past, so that could be why. I'm unsure if this is a Nadir-thing, or a Nadir's-people thing.

......................... // Biologie / Nadir is covered with a tough, lizard-like coat of scales that appear to be irridescent in some places, or at least shiney. She doesn't understand when I have to avert my eyes a little when she's standing in direct sunlight after she's had a bath. sweatdrop It gets better after I get used to it. From what she's been able to remember so far, I think some of her brighter coloring is evolved from having to live in a tropical-type place. Hot, humid, many colors... especially in the wooded areas. I am fairly certain that the coloring was to blend in more. A completely brown lizard would be very easy to spot against colorful animals and vegitation, I suppose.
Otherwise, Nadir's body seems obsessed with sets of two. Besides the usual two eyes and two nostrils, she has two horns that remind me of antelopes of some breed, two tails that look like they should belong on a bird, not a lizard, and two sets of arms. Yes, two. The secondary set seems less developed than the primary set, and Nadir usually handles detailed things with that less developed set. Delicate things, you know? Her primary set is muscular, probably from her using it to climb all over my room and whatever else she can get away with. sweatdrop
Whenever she's frightened, uneasy, surprised... or any extreme emotion, really, her tails set themselves in a different stance. A warning feature? I guess... they /are/ very brightly colored. @_@;
Nadir has an extra thick plating of bone on her forehead, just in front of her horns. Probably for protection against fights? Kinda like how horned animals butt their heads together, you know? >> It kinda reminds me of that dinosaur.... can't remember the name of it. Lots of extra bone mass on the top of it's head.
She has spines growing on her shoulders and cheek areas, and those hurt. I know. @_@ The scales around those areas are tougher as well, and the whole place is abrasive as a whole. Another fighting/defensive tactic?
Also, Nadir's pretty short. Without her horns, she's just barely four and a half feet tall... she might grow to be five feet as an adult. If she doesn't have a horrendous growth spurt. Tall and gangly Nadir.... @__@;;;
She doesn't seem to be able to hear well, either... well, in the sense that she says music just sounds like .... sound. I think she's tonedeaf. She understands the spoken word well enough, though, even though her own speach is a little broken.

~ Before The Fact We just finished the midterms today, and if I were any judge, I think I've gotten away with good grades. Mother will be happy with that.
~sigh~ Nothing's like I expected it to be at college. Sure, there are parties, but I don't think anyone's going to invite me to them. Is it my scrawny look? ... Perhaps I should start combing my hair out a little more for that 8 am class I have...
In any case, all I do here is study and sleep, and work for the campus paper. Not that I mind, that is. I enjoy the quiet life, but I always expected things to get more exciting as I get older, and start to become a real journalist.
... Maybe a trip to the nearby beach during my free day tomorrow will help cheer me up. I really need to start thinking about the test we'll have in Language class in two weeks.
