I don't know if there's already a thread like this in the GGSA, but I couldn't find one so I decided to start a list of LGBTQ books for teens. Add to the list if I missed one you like. I would particularly appreciate help with the Gay section, because I don't really read those. If you want me to add a book, post the title, author and a short descripton.

Lesbians:

Annie On My Mind by Nancy Garden
This is a book about two girls who become friends and then fall in love, only to be outed in front of the entire school.

Far from Xanadu by Julie Anne Peters is about a lesbian teenager named Mike(and her awesome, stereotypically gay bestfriend, Jamie) and the 'New Girl' in town, Xanadu. Mike finds herself falling in love with the intoxicating straight girl; trouble, hurt, and a Hell of a ride start up.

Rubyfruit Jungle by Rita Mae Brown
A really, really excellent book that basically outlines the life of a lesbian named Molly from the age of 5 to her mid twenties.

Good Moon Rising by Nancy Garden
This is about two girls in the schools drama club who are outed.

Empress Of The World by Sara Ryan
A teenage girl goes to a college prep summer program thing and falls in love.

Aimee and Jaguar- a non-fiction book about the relationship between the wife of a Nazi officer (Lilly aka Aimee) and a jewish woman (Felice aka Jaguar) during WWII

Dare Truth Or Promise by Paula Boock
A girl in New Zealand switches schools to avoid problems with an ex-lover, and ends up falling in love.

Bermudez Triangle by Maureen Johnson
Three best friends have problems when a romance developes between two of them.

Keeping You a Secret By:Julie Ann Peters. (It's about two lesbian girls, well, osrt of, but anyway, great book).
Gay

Rainbow Boys by Alex Sanchez
A book about three gay/questioning teenagers.

Rainbow High by Alex Sanchez
A sequal/companion to Rainbow Boys

Rainbow Road by Alex Sanchez
Prequal to Rainbow Boys.

So Hard To Say by Alex Sanchez
A boy moves from Massachusetes to Southern California and is instantly befriended by a girl named Xio. When she wants to start dating he begins to question his identity.

Boy Meets Boy By biggrin avid Levithan.
(It's like one of my favorite books ever. It's so sweet.)

Short Story Compilations:

Men On Men: Best New Gay Fiction
Men on Men is comprised of (to my knowledge) 7 books full of short stories. Each story is different, so I can't really give a description... But one of the best parts of some of the stories is that they don't completely center around being gay; other issues are taken on, as well. Enjoy!

Things Not Seen
A collection of gay/lesbian magical realism stories.

Growing Up Gay/Growing Up Lesbian
A buncha informative short stories, some true, some not.

Am I Blue- A book of lesbian and gay short stories

Trans:

Luna. By: Julie Ann Peters (It's about a Transsexual boy. It's really sad, but still a great read).

Two really good reads, are The Da Vinci Code, and Angels & Demons. I know that they don't center on Homosexuality, but they bring up some very interesting points about homosexuality in the Christian religion, as well as shining a long over do spotlight on some famous gay figures from the past. Most notably Da Vinci(well duhh! xp ), and the "truth" behind his paintings and himself.

Also thrilling, these two books will make you think. Good and suspenseful, full of iconological references, twists, turns, and "Holy s**t! He did it!"s

I've already read Luna, it is such an awesome book. It made me realize more about transsexuals, and more and more open to them with each sentence.

<3

Now I really want to read Annie on my mind X333 I'll have to check that out some time.

I just got this book, err, Dance Recover Repeat by Alasdair Duncan (which I think is a really wicked name, by the way) and thus far it's really good. I guess I could be easy to impress. Actually, I have a bunch but they're at my other house...well my mom's house.

Uh, books by David Sedaris are really well done and not all of the stories focus around him being gay.

Oooh, and I really want to read Boulevard by Jim Grimsley!! And I heard Closet Case (which I got for Christmas) and Shameless are really wicked too. Or maybe it's just my opinion?? Well, hope those are helpful somewhat ^_^
