I love acting. I'm afraid that I won't make the cut that I may not be good enough for broadway type stuff. What determines a good actor? How can I raise my game?

IMO, a good actor gets the emotion and point of the scene, show, song, monolouge, ect...across. My advice would be to get all the experience you can. Audition for shows or plays, take classes or workshops, do whatever you can. Believe in yourself and work hard.

I agree. Work hard, I mean you can't get anywhere if you don't try. Also, go see as many plays as possible. Take notes on it if possible. Does the actor get the point across clearly? Is that person's character believable? Think through your character. Make them believable. How would you react etc. Good luck!

READ! Read read read. Read plays, read novels, read random nonfiction books, read books on technique. Read magazines. Learn new words. Practice your cold readings.

The main thing I have learned so far from theatre is that everything is connected, and only by finding these connections can a character truly come to life.

ALSO... not all really succesful actors are very good. OR not all really good actors ever make any money at it.

Always be mindful of your appearance. Never go anywhere you might meet someone important dressed like a slut or a slob. I'm not saying dress super professional always, just make sure you're not going to end up on any Worst Dressed lists. Try to avoid sterotypes. Even if you are a goth kid or a ska kid or a hardcore punk, leave it at home or at the club. Directors and agents want a sort of blank slate - a blank slate that's shaped like you.

Return favors. Don't hoard knowledge. Don't burn bridges (Unless you KNOW you're never going to need that person later or don't care if you do.)
