heart Ok, if you are really ambitious at learning your language, there are many things you can do to improve, perfect, or have fun with it. heart

idea 1. Listen to music in your desired language. For example, as a spanish nerd, I buy all different types of latin music that's in Spanish. I have learned many new words, dialects, and things about their culture just from a few songs!
Benefit: Listening to people "speak" your desired language in a lyrical way will help you get used to connecting your words as a native speaker does or understanding them better. It will also help you connect with their culture.

idea 2. When you watch a movie, but on (your desired language here) subtitles.
Benefit: You will here your native language and see the one you are learning at the same time. You can indirectly learn new words as well. You will get used to the sound of native speakers.

idea 3. Watch movies, tv shows, and other entertainment in the language you are learning. Listen very closely, but it will help you even more to put on subtitles in your native language.
Benefit: You will see your native language and listen to the one you're learning. You can also learn new words this way, but it may be more difficult.

idea 4. If you love to read, buy a bilingual book. You can also buy a book that's all in your desired language. This is a great way to learn new words. Read it out loud to help your speech, as well. Don't get discouraged if you have to keep translating words. You will find that the more you read, the less words you'll have to look up.
Benefit: You will eventually learn to be a better reader in your desired language, and also reading out loud will help you with your speaking skills.

idea 5. Get a penpal to write with. You can even find people on Gaia to send emails with in your desired language. I know I have. Now writing/typing in Spanish is easier and more natural than ever!
Benefit: Not only will you get to know someone nice enough to help you, but you will perfect your writing skills.

idea 6. Try to think in it. Translate what others are saying in your head.
Benefit: You will become more able to speak faster without hesitation.

idea Other tips I recommend:
-look for sites that teach, are in, or explain the language.
-find tapes of native speakers.
-get textbooks.(it's really not that bad. 4laugh )
-study abroad. (if you're more fortunate than me crying )
-go on vaction to a place that speaks it.

The point is, surround yourself by your language! Make it your life! You will learn it faster, easier, and happier than others. So, if you want to dominate your foreign language class, impress your family and friends, or just become fluent...these tips will definately help you! Good luck, everyone!

If you've done most of the things on the list, it should be very near ^^ I recommend going abroad for some time... I went to Quebec (the French-speaking part of Canada) for 2 weeks for summer camp this summer and it helped a lot! ^^

is it because of financial issues? if it is, I strongly recommend getting a part time job as soon as you're old enough.

There's a programme called Home Stay... you go to the country of your choice and live with a family from that coutnry for 2-4 weeks, participating in all of the family activities with them and therefore learning about the culture and language in that country 3nodding

Most kids do it in the summer, so that they don't miss school ninja

no, no, no, no, no...stop at the finacial. We are upper middle class and have MORE than enough money for something like this. The problem is her mentality...she's overprotective. She just can't STAND the fact of me being away for a while. I'm mature enough, smart enough, and I have enough social skills to "survive" in the foreign country.
