I decided to go ahead and make this since I doubt Loku will ever do it...


As most of you are aware of by now, the Egg Sanctuary's first post, with information like how to post eggs in code, recently got a huge update. Part of that update was the separation of information into sections. Those sections could use banners to make the first post of the Egg Sanctuary have some color and not just be a huge wall of text.

The first banner we need should be somewhere around 500 x 130 in size, although you can play around with that a bit since the size isn't set in stone for this one. It needs to have "Egg Sanctuary" on it. This banner will be the first thing people see when they view the Egg Sanctuary; it is going to be our "logo," so keep that in mind. Other than that, be creative. Just don't make it animated any, or that will make the Egg Sanctuary load even slower than it does now.

The other banners are rather mini-banners and will be used to separate the different sections. For size, I'd say around 275 x 60, but this can vary a little as long as you make all of them the same size. We need many of these, with each one saying one of the following: Rules, Announcements, How to post in Code Tags, Examples, Egg Sanctuary FAQ, Status Codes, Notes, and Frozen Hatchlings. Make sure you make all of these in the same general style, with the same font and stuff. If you really want to be creative, I'd say for you to try putting a different breed of dragon on each mini-banner, but that certainly isn't mandatory.

We could use several people submitting these so we can select which ones we think look the best, so don't get discouraged if you were going to do this but someone posted before you.

I'll most likely keep this open until the end of this month, so keep the entries coming in. I guess this will be open until Loku does something about this.

I sent the PM, but just in case some of you were wanting the answers also, here they are:

1. Yes
2. Yes, but don't use just rare dragons, use some common ones too.
3. The longest banner text is "How to post in BB Code," which is rather long. I suggest you either use a smaller font size or you lengthen the banner, or you might have to do both.
4. As long as they don't look like you just slapped them together in just a few minutes, it doesn't really matter much.
5. I'd say no. We'll probably make a small credits section somewhere in the first page of the Egg Sanctuary though.

One more thing I just thought of: I don't like the edges of the banners to be normal; I usually prefer rounded edges for stuff like this. Note that this is a suggestion, not a requirement.

We don't have any set date, although it would be nice if we could get everyone's banners in this month so we can decide which is best.

No, you don't have to make both the logo and the mini-banners. Although if you do the mini-banners, I ask that you do all of them so they'll be in the same style rather than having them in several styles by several different people.

I think it's a bit too long. It's also pretty plain. Remember, this is going to be our "logo," so it needs to look fancy and stuff.
