The morning was cooler than usual, so it surprised Luca when he saw people bundled against the slight wind. Shaking his head he made is way into the cafe he inhabited for some of the meetings like this; meetings with people who report strange happenings on their electronic devices.
He made his way to his usual table at the back and upon reaching it stripped himself of his oversize gray jacket. After hanging it on the coat rack attached to the wall he sat down on the side facing the door and near the large front window. Both were strategic places for him to reside in. With a light sigh he placed his PDA on the table and briefly glanced at it. On its face was a pinkish female Hacker.
-It's early for you isn't it?- The message that blipped on the screen read. Luca shook his head and yawned a little.
"When I took the job I said I would be available even if it was off my regular schedule, Au'ret. Plus, at least I got to see the sunrise this morning."
-I wonder when this person with the problem will be here? Hopefully soon. Why don't you order yourself something to wake up?-
Luca shrugged at the first question but nodded at the second. When a waiter came around he ordered a small cappuccino and left it at that. As the waiter departed Luca shifted his attention to the door, watching people as they came in, and looking for that one person who would have that computer trouble.

Zuri yawned as she got up off her armchair and stretched out her arms. She'd spent nearly the whole night trying to fix her laptop of its mysterious problem, and fell asleep on the spot. Most hesitantly she looked at the blank screen, just long enough for it to flash a message at her.
'Heeeeeee~ o3o'
She creased her brow, promptly looking away from the screen and to the clock hanging on the wall. "Aw crap" she muttered, "I overslept thanks to you." With a huff she made her way to the kitchen for a glass of water, grabbing a multi-grain bar on her way back and then closing the laptop. After slipping it into her backpack she got on her jacket, gloves, and hardy shoes before heading out the door, backpack fastened lightly to her back. It was a long walk to the cafe she was to go to, but it would do her good to wake herself up completely. It was still early enough for her to make the appointment within good time, so off she went in her leisurely pace.
When she'd reached her destination she looked the cafe up and down before entering, then looked around for a person matching the description she had been given the previous day. Seeing someone who fit it well sitting in the back and looking her way, she walked over to him and said quizzically as she pointed towards him, "Luca Creste?"

Another short yawn sent Luca's hand to his mouth. Where was that waiter with his caffeine? He didn't drink it often enough to be dependent, but a little jog would help right about now. Every now and again he would shift his attention from the door to the window. It would look quite creepy to see a man looking directly at the door for long periods of time.
Luca gazed out the panes of glass and dozed with his eyes open. He wasn't focusing, everything was a blur. At the sound of his name being called, he jumped in his seat, knocking one of his knees on the underside of the table. Wincing, he looked around to the source of the voice. Upon seeing the person before him, he stood up gingerly.
"I am indeed. You must be Zuri, correct? You called the night before about computer troubles." He reached out his hand for her to shake then motioned to the seat across. "Please sit. And I apologize for spacing out; I haven't had any coffee yet."

"I'm sorry" Zuri replied, shaking his hand. "I didn't mean to startle you." She sat down, removing her backpack and hesitantly tacking out her laptop to set on the table. She removed her gloves, but left her coat on as it wasn't too heavy and kept her a comfortable temperature. "Ah, coffee" she mused, "I haven't had any of that for the longest time. Best you have yours though before you deal with my laptop's problem; it's a real hassle."
Slowly she opened the laptop up, the green egg on the screen playfully bobbing from side to side. After a while it stopped, sitting upright, and then flashed a message on the screen.
'Hola Luuuuuuuca~ •◡•'

"It's quite all right." He shook her hand and sat down again. One hand quickly went under the table to rub his knee. That hurt a little bit. "I'm sure it's nothing I can't handle. And the waiter should be coming around any time now-Ah!"
The waiter passed by with Luca's drink and set it down. Luca thanked the man. "Would you like anything?" The honey haired man motioned at the waiter who had drifted to a circular table nearby, within earshot. Once Zuri opened her laptop, Luca shifted his attention to it. At the sight of the egg on the screen and the message, Luca smiled.
"Well, that's quite something. Even as an egg it already knows Spanish."
-What, do you think that eggs are dullards? Babies are quite easy at picking up information.- A buzzing sound came from Luca's PDA, and he gazed at the message before commenting.
"No, not at all. I'm sure they can, and this Hacker egg clearly shows the intelligence level of your form of AI Au'ret."

"No, I'm fine" Zuri said in response to Luca's inquiry. She watched the green egg for a while before stating, "If it browses through my files enough it'll probably know some Japanese before the days done." She looked over to the PDA on the table, slightly arching a brow. "This is far worse than the average computer virus isn't it?" she inquired, looking back to the laptop's screen to see the new message. "I'm going to assume that means it is."

"All right then." Luca turned his body fully towards Zuri. At her question, he shook his head.
"Contrary to belief, this egg is not a virus. It's an advanced form of artificial intelligence. They are called Hackers, but they are not caused by a person. Actually," His hand came up to rub the back of his head. "We aren't quite sure where they came from, but we do know that they are data that has the ability to replicate human speech, emotions, and in some cases, human form. For example," Luca gently pushed his PDA across the table at Zuri. "See example A; my Hacker Au'ret."
The child Hacker swayed on the PDA screen. Beneath her, a message popped up.
-Hello there. :3-

Zuri listened patiently to Luca, then looked down to the PDA as he slid it over. Seeing the pink Hacker on the screen and its friendly message she grinned a little. "So they're somewhat like a computer program, one designed to function like a real living creature" she mused as she sorted through her thoughts. "Do they just randomly show up like the one in my laptop?"
The green hacker egg began to playfully bob from side to side again. 'Sneaky~! o3o'

Luca pulled his PDA back. "Somewhat, yes. But in a way, they are living creatures. They eat, desire and seek attention, affection; basically what humans do, only in the computer and in cyberspace."
He paused to take a sip from his cappuccino. Hot and good, he'd have to order it again sometime. Placing the cup down he pondered the best way to answer her query.
"On occasion they will. Sometimes a Hacker will bring another home with it, and if it doesn't have an owner it might stay. Hackers are social, they like to interact with others of their kind and the humans that they dwell with." He paused, thinking that now would be a good time to tell her about the basics of Hacker care. "If you haven't got any more questions, I'd like to tell you the basics of caring for your Hacker. It's not all that hard to do, but it's best you know so your computer doesn't lose anymore files or the like."

Zuri nodded slowly at Luca's advice, then looked back to her laptop's screen. "Well" she began, thinking about it for a bit. "I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions later, but it would certainly do good to know how to care for it for now." She put her hand on her chin, letting her elbow rest on the table as she continued to watch the green egg. It was kind of weird to feel that it was watching her even though it showed no signs of doing so. This was something she'd have to get used to, along with having it in her computer in the first place.

"Care for them is quite simple." Luca began immediately as soon as Zuri had given the go ahead. "Though in its own way a bit complex. First thing you will have to look for is what the Hacker seems to have a taste for. Pictures, homework assignments, files, whatever. Once you find that out it would be best to make a folder and make copies of whatever the Hacker likes and put it in there."
Another sip from the drink and Luca tugged on a loose string on his sleeve. What else was he taught to say? Ah, yes.
"It is best to teach them that the folder is the only place they are allowed to go. If you have more than one device, a PDA or something, you should make another folder on that device. Cell phones are tricky because they lack that option, but Hackers aren't usually found on them." He took sip of the cooling drink. "If you can't have your laptop on you at all times and want your Hacker nearby, affording a USB cable is best so he can get from one device to the next."
Luca pulled his own USB cable, a long pink one, out of his pocket.
"Before I go any further, do you have any queries?"

'Well that won't be too fun' Zuri thought, remembering how many files the Hacker had been messing around with. Finding a device to store it on however wouldn't be that hard as she knew someone that made all sorts of portable devices that could be used for storage.
Brushing a bit of her hair out of her face she remembered that she hadn't gotten to brush it this morning, thankfully it seemed to have kept its form but she'd have proffered less of it in her face. Upon seeing Luca's pink USB cable she couldn't help a small smile at a bit of irony. "Is there any way to tell its gender before it's hatched?" she asked, hoping that there was so she'd at least know what gender she was dealing with so as to better cope with it.

Luca glanced to his USB cord before putting it back in his pocket. He smiled nervously.
"It's pink because Au'ret refused anything less than that color." How could he forget to say that? He always said it when going over the USB speech. At her question he shook his head. "Not unless the egg tells you outright, which is rare for eggs to do. So no, sorry about that."
Luca's eyes flicked over to his PDA where Au'ret was spinning around without a care in the world. As he looked back she popped a message onto the screen.

"Alright" Zuri said with a small nod. These Hacker things were strange in many ways, but fascinating at the very least. She hoped she'd become good friends with the one in her laptop for she had too many valuable documents on it to have something wandering astray amongst them.
"What else should I know about these things?" she inquired, allowing him to go further with his explanation on the Hackers.

A tall half-Irish, half-Native American man was walking down the road near a quaint little cafe when his stomach let out a rumble that was so loud he was certain his shirt had shaken from its outcry and he sheepishly glanced around to ensure that no one else had seen...or heard...the terrible happening. Not willing to allow yet another instance to happen of that embarrassing behavior his stomach was so wont to do, he quickly ducked into the cafe and was surprised to find that the man he had hired was there with a young woman. Was he on a date? Luca had not struck Fiach as the kind to go out, especially not on early morning dates, so the fact that there the man was and with a young woman surprised him more than a little. As Fiach made his order for a tuna sandwich on whole wheat with a fresh cup of tea, he couldn't help but feel his curiosity grow stronger and stronger.
Once the lady called out his order, he picked up his food and drink and headed towards a seat so that he could eat his food properly before his stomach erupted in another loud noise. Though there were a few seats near to where he stood, he purposefully walked near to the table where his employee sat, and glanced down as he did so to discover what appeared to be a Hacker egg floating around on the woman's laptop. So was Luca here for work? As the woman asked if there was anything else she ought to know about them, the pieces of the puzzle fell neatly into place just as Fiach stumbled and his tea and sandwich fell onto the table the duo were sat at. Thoroughly embarrassed, he muttered his apologies before beginning to wipe up the tea and bits of tuna that had happily spread across the table. While he did so, he interrupted the two a little further by inquiring of the woman, "I take it you are here to talk to Luca about the Hackers?" It was a little more...forward of a question then Fiach was used to asking, but now that he'd made his appearance in such a bizarre manner he figured there was no harm in asking. Besides, maybe in doing so he wouldn't look like an absolute idiot...or he could at least cover it up with pseudo-confidence...
