The Mortal Realm Reception Hall is located inside the Gatekeeper's home. The Gatekeeper has the responsibility of reducing the supernatural abilities of those entering the Mortal Realm.
This hall is the place where those coming from the Other Realms first step foot onto the Mortal plane. There is a small lounge here, exiting to a stone walkway that leads to the Academy.

Sebastian led them into the room, but was unsurprised when the ripples ran through his body, granting him full power although the Gatekeeper had stripped him of it earlier. It was a strange feeling, almost like being awake again after a long dream.
"There must be some kind of imbalance. I wonder if one side is giving more power than the other."
He knew the Gatekeeper on the other side, and doubted that she would knowingly sabotage the Gateway, so there must have been some other reason for the ripples.

As if on cue, Gabriel popped in through a side door that no doubt led to his home. The three exchanged brief greetings before business. Gabe sighed, leaning against a reception desk. " Theres not alot I can do. It seems these ripples have been happening for a long time, but grew in intensity so we can only now feel them." He sighed, brushing some hair from his eyes in a girl-attracting manner only an angel could do. " My guess is something unwanted broke through the Gateway when it wasn't supposed to, that something being incredibly powerful. I don't know any other way the ripples could start."
Evy sighed after listening to what he said. " Guess we have to ride it out, then." She muttered, thinking.

"At least until we find whatever broke through." Samyule said, slightly crestfallen. This was something that they'd been brought there to prevent - an intrusion by some unknown entity from the other realms. "For now we should-" He was cut off by his cell phone.
One of the few human inventions that had proved enormously useful in the Mortal Realm, he rarely went anywhere without it. Flipping the lid open, he saw that the number displayed was Headmaster Sordeau's. "Excuse me." he said, walking slightly away so that if they wanted, the two of them could continue their conversation.
The headmaster was using hushed tones, but apparently one of the students had developed Vampirism and was now suffering from the pain of the transformation.
"Headmaster, that's something that I-" Kaien cut him off before he could protest.
"She's very young, Sebastian, and though you can't cure it you can help ease the pain." The headmaster was, as always, his cool self.
Irritated at being interrupted Sebastian replied, "I can ease only some of the pain, not all. Unfortunately the nature of these transformations is to be violent."
"Please, Sebastian." Kaien said quietly.
Sebastian sighed, passing his hand over his forehead. "Fine. I'll be there."
Looking appologeticaly at Gabriel and Evy, he gave a weary smile. "Looks like the headmaster has need of me momentarily. You are free to come along - as long as you can be discreet. or you can simply wait for me here."

Evy smiled. " Oh it's fine. Run along, Bastian. I'm sure I can keep myself entertained while you're gone." She rolled her eyes at Gabe, who looked in a panic as he ducked behind the desk. She smiled and winked at Bastian before attempting to tug Gabe from behind the desk. Acting as if nothing was wrong as she pulled his ankle, she waved at Bastian as he exited. " C'mon, you big idiot.."

Sebastian looked warily at the two of them. They were playing around, but should something happen while he was away, he didn't know how he could forgive himself. If Gabriel was right and something had come through...
He didn't have time to dwell on it. Waving farewell, he quickly made his way toward the headmaster's office.

Evy was finally able to drag Gabe out from behind the reception desk, saying she wouldn't smack him or anything, even though she gave him a whack on the back of his head when he finally emerged. They sat talking for awhile on different things; the school, the campus, and life in general. The sun was just beggining to set when Evy finally stood up. " I'm gonna get going, it's starting to get dark." She gave Gabe a slight hug and headed out the door, rolling her eyes as Gabe shouted after " Stay out of trouble!" With that, she headed back to the Keystone dorms.

A white-haired lady stepped through the gateway and looked about. Nodding to the gatekeeper, she continued on her way. No one would question her appearance and she was silent as she made her way to the headmaster's place.

Arondis silently hurried back to the gateway house and stepped right through the portal. It felt weird going through it. Like the portal wasn't quite right. Though as long as it wasn't dangerous, everything could proceed as normal. She just hoped the waves wouldn't increase any more.
On the other side, the white-haired lady took on the form of a magnificant white dragon. Yellow eyes flashed before they closed. A mental summoning was sent across the land, searching for the far-away recipient. It reached a seemingly young man who took dragon from and set off.
Patiently waiting in dragon form, Arondis meditated for the 30 minutes or so that it took her son to arrive at the gate. An impressive looking red dragon landed with a soft thud and walked over to the white one who still had her eyes closed.
"Welcome my son." They spoke in each others minds. "It's good to see you mother. You are well?" He affectionately touched her nose with his and then lay down in submission while they spoke. "As always." "Then you're not getting enough sleep." He laughed good naturedly and Arondis joined in before turning serious again. "I called you here to be of use to this school." Mentally raising an eyebrow, Pyralis was curious. "Teaching? I'm not objected to it, but are you sure?" "Very. You are well equiped to keep students safe and protect this school. A teaching position may be just the thing for you." The male dragon had to think for a moment, and his mother let him roll the thoughts around in his head in silence. "Alright, I'll do it. As a favor to you my mother, I accept this position." Nodding, Arondis seemed pleased. Both shifted to human form and embraced.
"I am glad. Off to the headmaster." Pyralis had been away for a long time, and a mother always misses her children. Nodding, the man glanced once more at Arondis and then stepped through the gateway into the human realm. He nodded politely to the gatekeeper and then set about on his way.
Arondis took up her post again and waited.

Anna and Pyralis entered the reception hall in haste. After what they had just encountered at the fish pond in Moline, they had to report the creature to Arondis. Anna held on to Pyralis' hand lightly, just in case maybe he didn't want to make their relationship evident to his mother. Personally, she was very scared of the idea, though hoped the matter at hand would get more attention than herself.

With a reassuring look, Pyralis led Anna through the gateway. It took only a few moments, but even he could feel that something was slightly off. This had to fixed soon.
Arondis had been contendedly watching the Gateway while drinking tea under a large tree. Seeing her son step through, she stood, and then she saw that Anna was in tow. Ah yes, the elf her and Kaien had seen to after the last large wave from the gate. The two looked hurried. Calm as always, she walked over to the two. "To what do I owe the honor of my son's presence again in less than 24 hours, and acompanied by Miss Anna?"
"New of what troubles the gate my mother." He saw the flash in her eyes. Did she know what form the disturbance was in.
"So it has spread." Her son nodded mutely, and the silent convorsation minds took its course before she turned to Anna. "Have you anything to say on the matter?" Though buisness-like when it came to these things, her voice was still very kind.

"Only that I felt it to be malevolent and full of deceit. I'm not sure how to stop it, though..." In the presence of dragons, Anna felt rather inadequate. She had read about them in many books, all about their gifts and abilities. How did an elf compare, she wondered? And did Arondis know of the connection she had with her son? The entire situation was intimidating on so many levels, and it made her fatigue no better.

Arondis nodded, thinking over the information she had aquired. Kaien would need to know, but she would tell him later. "I am unsure as well. Give me time and I may have an answer." The gate was a mysterous thing. One could never really know what was going on with it. That was good enough for Pyralis. If Arondis said she'd come up with an answer, then she would. Now to come to poor Anna's rescue. He cleared his throat and pulled Anna closer to him. The gesture was enough to let his beloved know what was going on, but the true explanation was between minds again.
Taking all information in silence, Arondis' face was a mask of calm. She betrayed none of her thoughts as her careful eyes studied Anna. So this was her son's choice. Rather quick about it, but that was how such things worked when one found one's other half. Was this truely she? Yes, the elf held her own powers, but she seemed such a delicate thing. Would it really be this woman to temper her son's inner fire. Eyes returning to Pyralis, she smiled warmly, and then awarded the same smile to Anna. May you know what it is you do my son.
I am aware. Pyralis felt the silent command that Anna know what it was that she was getting into. Indeed, he would show her soon.
And you, daughter of the moon. Happiness be yours. The thought was sent to Anna's mind. Only an old and skilled dragon such as Arondis could send a thought so easily to another without joining minds in dragon form first. No doubt her words seemed very formal to this elf, but the old dragon knew her son would explain any questions asked. "Go, enjoy one another's company."
Happy with his mother's blessing, Pyralis embraced her and gave her a kiss on the cheek before taking Anna's hand once more. "I will see you again soon."

Anna felt honored that she could be sent the thought of a dragon. She blushed a deep crimson, nodded slightly, and had to stifle a small nervous laugh. They had her blessing. But Anna's parents had yet to know, being far away as they were. They'll know when they're ready, she thought wryly. Nothing could stop her, not even her grandmother, and that was saying something.
Anna looked to Pyralis, all smiles, even though their past experience had been terrifying.
