The Grand Gazebo is just that...a covered outdoor place for people to meet together. Rain or shine, it's the perfect getaway from classes and Dorm Room Drama.

The second they reached the shelter of the Gazeebo and were out of eyesight, Samyule undid the front of his uniform, exposing the white undershirt and allowing the little breeze to circulate around his body. "These things are hotter than they look."

Ella nodded in agreement, taking a seat on the circular bench that ran the inside of the gazebo. " I know what you mean." She stretched a bit, settling herself on the bench and crossing her ankles. " So, why did you decide to come here?" She asked, trying to strike up some conversation.

Samyule scratched his arms, thinking of what would sound like a good response, but deciding that it was too disingenuous. "Well, my sister has contacts among the teachers here on campus. Her position at another academy is what helped my acceptance, but I was originally scouted from the ROTC program at my old school."
He usually avoided any mention of his ROTC experience. The program was a good resume builder, but he had never intended on joining with the army full time.

Ella nodded thoughtfully. " You don't seem an army type of person, oddly enough." Experimentally, she poked him in the stomach. " Too soft." She winked at him, before looking out over the gardens.

He smiled. "You'd be surprised what I would do to protect someone. Anyway, the ROTC program promised a lot of scholarships. Since It's not like My family has a lot anyway, I needed to take advantage of the opportunity."
He sighed. "That's when I was accepted to Grove academy." He leaned forward on the Gazebo railing. "How'd you get here? Headmaster has his connections in the UK I bet..."

She shrugged. " Not really. I guess I got lucky, being accepted here." She drummed her fingers against her knee. " You see, I grew up in an orphanage, my parents didn't want me, so I didn't have alot either. Everything was split evenly, and there were alot of kids there. My marks were pretty good, but not exactly exceptional. I wonder if the Headmaster knew the Matron, and she recommended me, or something." She shrugged, leaning against the wall of the gazebo.

"Who knows about that guy...he seems a little strange, but it probably comes from dealing so closely with all the Keystoners. He probably knew the matron and offered to recruit you."
It was strange, the two of them not having parents. He'd thought that he would not meet too many other orphans. "Anyway, I guess I was lucky that I at least had Gloria - though she worked most of the time. Must have been hard looking only to yourself."

" Yeah, he probably did. No way I could have gotten here without recommendation or something of the like." She smiled slightly. " It wasn't so bad. I had Colin, tosspot that he is." Her smile grew a bit thinking about him.

Samyule sucked in his breath hastily. "I didn't mean to imply that you couldn't get in on your own...just that unless you applied directly it would be completely random for him to have noticed..."
He knew he was talking himself even deeper into a hole. "Ah well, who knows. So this friend of yours, is he...good looking?"

Ella gave him a strange look. " I suppose so...I don't really look at him that way. He's like my brother.." She smiled. " So don't worry. You don't have any competition." She winked at him, before letting out a soft laugh.

Samyule feigned surprised. "competition? I don't know quite what you mean by that." With a wink he reminded her that he was teasing.
"However, thanks for that. I'll have a hard enough time keeping others away - but someone as close to you as he was would be harder to get rid of."

Ella let out a short laugh. " All he'll do is hover and be like an overprotective big brother, though he'll leave us be if I pout." She grinned, her eyes sparkling. " Useful really. And I can get rid of the hopeless hopefuls myself, thank you." She rolled her eyes at him, smiling.

He winked. "Ah, but what man would I be if I didn't defend the honor of a woman? It doesn't matter if she can defend herself or not...If I'm there, you can be damn certain I'll help out."
One of his bad habits, he laughed at his own joke. He always held the philosophy that if he could make himself laugh, that was half the battle.

She rolled her eyes at him, though laughed softly with him. " Shush you." She playfully wiggled her finger at him and smiled. She leaned back against the wall of the gazebo, stretching out her legs a bit.
