Do you think there are any good side effects of depression and/or melancholy? You could have grasped a new perspective on life (possibly an even brighter one) after experiencing a wave of depression. Even so, a lot of people do view depression and melancholy as a scar on their lives, and as time taken away... emo

What do you think?

"Whatever doesn't kill you will make you stronger."

Outside of that, no I don't really see a good side to being depressed and melancholy. I was clinically depressed for about a year and hated every minute. Fortunately now I can look back and say that it made me a much stronger person, but at the time it really sucked.

I suppose something good from being depressed is after it you do get stronger as far as immunities to what caused your depression. Another thing is, if its a break up depression, you tap into your artistic talent and even if you didnt have any before, it still pops up.

As long as you know you can become happy again i guess.

If we're talking about actual clinical depression, I think one positive is that people who have experienced depression might be better at helping others who are currently experiencing it. But that's not really even a positive of depression itself, it's more of a positive of overcoming depression.
