"When we all smile then HAPPY ARE WE, happy are we, HAPPY ARE WE," Tsôtsi sang loudly as he trotted along through a patch of dried-out brambles, not caring who heard him. As far as he was concerned, it was his life and he was going to live it to the fullest. Who cared if he was bothering all the snakes? He sure didn't. As he neared a shady dug-out he usually napped in deep inside the brambles, he began to sing again. "When we all--" he stopped himself short and pointed his nose to the air. "Ah?" Furrowing his eyebrows, he took a few deep sniffs. His previously emotionless face lit up. "What do we have here...?" he asked no one in particular, smirking. With a swish of his tail, he was bounding past his usuall hang-out spot. He followed his nose farther and farther away until he reached his destination; an old, hollow log. It was pretty small, but he smelled something delicious inside. Tsôtsi shoved his nose forwards for a closer scent. "A dead rat." he mumbled, drool dripping from his chin. He licked his snout and plunged head-first into the log. He wiggled and thrashed, but he couldn't get past his shoulders. Only his head would fit. The old, dead rat was situated in the middle of the log; Tsôtsi couldn't reach it. "DRAT!" he hissed, glaring at the morsel. With red eyes glowing in the darkness of the log, he finally gathered up some acceptance. With a sigh, he made a move to pull himself back out of the log. Then he made another move. And another move. Then he made one more. "...Okay, no...I am not..." His lips twitched into a sneer and he jerked his head. "STUCK?!"

Sauda was on her usual walk to no where. Each time venturing somewhere new. She always thought it was good to know exactly where you lived, and if you didn't explore every aspect of the area, you didn't have the right to live there. She swished her tail as she went. Though something caught her attention. A noise. Or rather someone that was trying to sing. Slowly she started to head towards it. Curious of who it might be. All thoughts of it being dangerous out the window.
As she got near, the voice stop. That was no fun. She frowned and was about to turn around when a moving log caught her eye... Moving log? She quickly looked in the direction. It took her a few moments to realize what was on the end of it. And even then she wasn't totally sure. A hyena? No doubt a dog type. A pup? Maybe. She wasn't sure about all the types of animals in the area. She walked closer.
" Do... you need help" She asked As she walked up almost next to the log, but far enough away in case the pup were to move it. Not likely. The log looked heavy. But you could never judge someone's strength when you didn't know them. "Are you stuck?" She asked another question to try to see what she can do about it.

Tsôtsi heard slow footsteps from behind him, muffled because his head was inside the log. His heart beat wildly in his chest. Could it be...a predator? He ground his teeth and sniffed deeply. A scent. Past the strong smell of musty log and dead, juicy rat, he could smell the faint odor of Hyena. Would another Hyena...eat him? Or maybe attack him for fun? If it was male, he was sure it would. Tsôtsi stared around in a panic. He gripped his claws deep into the earth beneath his feet and narrowed his eyes. He was ready to yell some choice threats if need-be. What good it would do, he wasn't quite sure, but he wasn't going to be killed or injured without a fight. Right when he opened his mouth to speak, he heard a voice. It was smooth and questioning. Tsôtsi's lips twitched into a relieved smile and he sighed. 'A female,' he said to himself. "Are you stuck?" he heard. So, she wanted to help. That was good. At least it meant she didn't want to eat him. Tsôtsi didn't like admitting that he needed help, though. He cleared his throat. "I, uh...I'm alright! Just--" He dug his paw into the log in an attempt to pry his head from the log but only succeeded in getting his leg stuck as well. "DANGIT!" he cried.

"Don't move, you could hurt yourself." She said trying to figure out a way to help him get out of the mess. She could try to break the log in parts near the end to where it'd be easy to get out, but she didn't know how to exactly do that without getting some of his hair. "Let me think for a moment..." She looked around for maybe a stick, or something. Or grabbing the pups neck and trying to pull him as hard as she could. But she didn't want to hurt him.
"How weak is the end of the log?" She asked him. Seeing as gnawing bits of it off was the only thing she could see happening. She'd just have to be very careful about it. "Cause, if it's not too strong, I can bite them off." It wouldn't be a easy and quick thing, but at least it was work.

Tsôtsi stopped struggling at her command. He frowned and blew his hair out of his face. 'How weak is the log?' he repeated the question to himself. "I have no idea how weak it is," he yelled. "I'm not that--" he stopped himself. There was no way he would admit he wasn't strong, especially in the presence of an adult female. "...Go ahead and try to break it." he sighed, finally. He just hoped it wasn't all the girl's clever game to kill him.

Sauda moved slowly towards him examining the log for a moment, it looked like it was sort of brittle, but still strong. She could smell the rotting of the log, mixed with something else that lingered. Was that the reason the little one tried to get inside it in the first place? She ignored the smell and gently slipped her under jaw between the pup and the inside of the log. It was a tight fit, and she didn't know if she got part of him in it at all. But she bit down as hard as she could. A snap, yet it didn't break off totally. Again, she bit down... Another snap. A small chunk came off. Only rotting park though. She didn't move and bit down again. this time the rest of the chunk came out. she pulled it out and started to try to spit it out. Giving a weird face and tongue motions to get the dead log out of it. It was really a nasty favor. "Now try" She asked. She was sure she had to bite in more spots, but trying to the least was still good

Tsôtsi jumped at the feel of her biting away the log, images of his life flashing before his eyes. When no pain came, he sighed with relief. At the female's following command, Tsôtsi jerked his head to free himself. Then he jerked it harder. "GAH," he groaned. "It's no use. I'll be stuck here forever, all because of a STUPID rat!" he yelled, his voice muffled from inside the log. "You'd better just leave me here for dead, Lady..." he murmured with a wiggle of his tired back legs.

She giggled. "Don't give up now. We only just started." She said. With no more wasting time she went back to the same spot, just a little bit over. Biting down again. The log was thicker this time, and would take a bit more work. It took another five hard bites to get some pieces off. She was glad it was rotting, or she'd have never been able to do this. Taking her head away, she spit out the bark again. "Try again"

Just started? It had been sooo long, and the smell of the rat seemed to be stuck in his nose. When she had finished, with just a bit of effort and some help from his back legs, Tsôtsi ripped his head out of the log. He gasped in the dry, non-musty air and grinned. "I'M FREE." he laughed. He spun in a circle in his joy. His neck was a little sore, but it would heal quickly. He knew it would. "I'M FREE! I'M--Woah." In the middle of his ejaculation, he stopped himself. There, in front of him, was the female Hyena who had helped him out of his predicament. It was odd seeing someone he had talked to but not known only moments ago. Sleek, black fur, golden markings on her muscular shoulder, white spread across her face and pink, shining eyes. Tsôtsi felt a grin tug at his lips. He flipped the hair out of his face in one swift motion and cleared his throat. "Thanks for helping me, babe. I appreciate it."

Watching the now free pup enjoy the fresh air, she just stood there waiting. Her tail wagging back and forth. She liked helping others. It made her feel better about the day, knowing that someone's life was some how better because she was there. As he finally realized that she was there, or rather remembered she was there, she smiled. He was trying to act older? She wasn't sure. "It wasn't a problem, truly."
"What were you doing anyways?" She asked curiously. She then went to wonder why he was by himself and not with his mother and father. "Where are your parents?" She looked about to see if there were any hyena's in the area. It was strange for her to see a pup all by himself alone in the world.

Wasn't a problem? What was he supposed to say in reply to that? His plan at looking cool shattered and he cleared his throat once again. "I was, uhh...Trying to get to a--I mean, hunting a rat." There, that would be something to talk about. Something to fill the gap. He couldn't take silence for very long. Then he heard the word "parents". At the mention of the word, Tsôtsi's heart skipped a beat. His face lost its grin and he suddenly grew deadly serious. "I don't have any." he answered stiffly.

She raised a brow to that he was hunting a rat. Though, he changed it half way through which made her want to question what it really ways, but didn't ask, no she didn't even get the chance to. The next part just kind of shocked her to where she forgot about the other part. Of course, she really couldn't say she had parents, even though she did. She didn't remember any part of that. Her tail stopped it's wagging.
She had a fast decision to make. Her mind was racing. "Well, that won't do, now will it?" she finally said. She wasn't going to let him be parent-less. She wondered what Letadika would say, but no mind to that for now. "We can't have you getting hurt so young" Or having the log incident happening without someone else there. What would have happened if she hadn't come along, or if anyone nice like her hadn't come long. Something she really didn't want to think about.
"You can stay with me."

"Stay?" Tsôtsi echoed. "With you?" he eyed her suspiciously, though she did seem to have a truly kind and motherly air about her. "I don't even know your name. Besides," he flicked his tail and smirked. "I'm a loner...NOTHING gets in my way. I live on my own, do my own thing," He darted left and right. "hunt for my own prey, and I'm not scared of anything hurting--" A dying cricket flew from a patch of grass and ran into Tsôtsi's leg. Tsotsi yelped and darted behind the fallen log.

"I'm Sauda" She said right after he said that. To be honest, she almost forgot totally about the name factor. Having had this meeting start off so differently, she didn't realize they hadn't exchanged them yet. As soon as she said that, he went on about how he could take care of himself, and wasn't afraid of anything until a bug landed on him and he hid behind the log. She gave a giggle. "Well, then, if you think you can handle yourself, I guess that settles it" She said. Though, she was only joking, she wasn't about to leave the pup all by himself.

Tsôtsi peeked out from behind the fallen log, blinking. Quickly recovering himself, he scrambled back onto his feet and pranced over to her. His heart was slamming in a panic at the sight of her looking like she was about to leave. He cleared his throat loudly so she'd turn around. He flipped the hair out of his face (a habit he was growing to like) and smirked. "Smooth name, baby." he said in his coolest tone. "I'm called Tsôtsi. But you can call me whatever comes to mind."
