A small piece of paper clutched in his paws, Demy stood in front of the door to Lali's place. This....this wasn't going to be easy. How do you explain to an old friend that you screwed up yet again and needed to go away for a while to figure things out?
...Exactly, it was way too hard to explain in person. So if he could just slip this note under the door without being noticed, he could slink back into the shadows of society and stop being a thorn in everyone's sides. Yeah...
Shaking a bit, both from stress and withdrawal Demy leaned down to slip the note under the door of his former singer.

Lali was late. Or at least, that's what she told herself as she snatched her camera and bolted for the door. Her friends would be amused, she thought, if they could see how very UN-rocker like she looked right now. In fact, she looked like some eccentric student. Well.
Reaching out, she grabbed the door knob and yanked it open to reveal Demy standing crouched in front of her door. Staring down at him in puzzlement, she finally managed to make her voice work.
"Demy? Are you all right?"

Demy yiped, quickly straightening back up and backing away from Lali.
"I um...I'm...f-fine."
He nodded, mostly to assure himself, and quickly stuffed the note back in the pocket of his hoodie.
"You....look different?"
Like he could talk, here he was wandering around in dirty clothes with his guitar still strapped to his back.

"And you look like hell. So what's wrong?"
She didn't miss how quickly he moved away from her or the state of his clothing and wondered just what trouble he'd gotten into this time. Reaching out a hand towards him, she felt a sharp stab of worry.
"Talk to me, cutie-pie," she coaxed. "What's going on?"

"N-nothing."
The boy eyed the hand warily, not making an effort to reach out towards it.
"I just......I need to go away for a while..maybe a long while. I j-just thought I should let you know..."
He was shaking again. Demy cursed himself silently and did his best to stop them. Once he was finished saying his goodbyes he could go drown his sorrows in booze and drugs...yeah! That'd feel a hell of a lot nicer than this guilt trip.

"Please don't lie to me, Demy. We're friends, right? You can talk to me."
She tried to control it, but she couldn't hide the alarmed expression that must have flickered across her face when he mentioned going away. And she was shaking, though she couldn't tell why. There were times she was glad they were about the same height and this was one of them. Rushing forward, she moved to throw her arms around him in a bear hug. Fine, so he had to go away. But it wasn't going to be before he knew that she still gave a damn about what happened to him.

"Of course we're friends! But---"
Demy gave a confused blink as he suddenly found the singer bear hugging him. Sniffling a bit, he quickly hugged back.
"I just...I need to go... I screwed up, and I have to go...figure things out if I want to go back..."
He spoke softly, snuggling against the other as he did.
"Please understand. I just...I don't want you mad at me, or Lou mad at me or...anything. But...apparently I can't handle that..."

Closing her eyes, Lali simply kept hugging. When she heard the sniffling, she knew she'd doen the right thing.
"I don't know what you did, cutie-pie," she answered in an equally soft voice, "but if you say you have to go get sorted out, I believe you. And I am not made at you. But if you try anything stupid and dramatic like tossing yourself off a building, I'll find some way to stick your ghost into the body of some celibate, priestly type."
She tightened her arms for a moment before carefully letting him go and watching him with worried gray eyes. Finally, she reached into her pocket and fished out a key.
"If you can promise to not lose this, you can have it. It's a spare for the apartment. What this means," she continued, smiling a little and winking, "is that I trust you completely as a friend. It also means that if you can't bear being alone with your thoughts anymore, that you're welcome here anytime and if I'm not around to open the door you let yourself in. Got it?"

"Pfft....would fun would it be to toss myself off a building? ...Especially with that kind of threat following after it."
A hint of a smile flickered across his maw, but it was gone as quickly as it had come.
"...You sure you want to trust me?..."
Demy eyed the key, before slowly reaching to take it.
"I promise I won't lose it. And...thank you."
Trust..trust felt nice. Even if he didn't feel like he deserved it.

Leaning forward, Lali kissed Demy's forehead and smiled.
"Of course I want to trust you. We're friends. Friends trust each other."
Now, she crossed her arms over her chest and winked.
"You take care of yourself, Demy Stardust. I want my friend to last for a good long while. "

Demy gave a mock salute to the female.
"So....be seeing you...."
Slowly, the boy turned and made his way back out. Hopefully one day he'd return under much happier circumstances.
