Barracks
(Apartments)

The building itself is traditional (Japanese) and made entirely out of cedar wood. The tree stories provide large sized rooms (customizable to the individual's liking) complete with bathroom and small kitchen. There is a larger kitchen and large dining area located on the bottom floor for recreational purposes and get-togethers. There is also an open-air hot springs bath located in the back of the building with a 10 foot wall around it so no peeping you sick people! It is large in size and surrounded by vegetation to compliment the natural look.
The building itself is surrounded by trees as well as a small garden complete with a coy pond (thanks to Buru for this). There is also a small sign next to the pond that reads-
"Do not swim and please do not eat coy! Thank you!"

Ryan decided that he'd needed to get himself an apartment. He didn't think that it would be well appreciated if he kept sleeping where he did (mainly in the Men's Organization meeting room). Looking into the first room on the first floor, he saw it was empty, and decided to take residence there. He didn't really have that many things, but he did make sure to return to the dining area, where the room roster was affixed on the wall next to the hallway leading to the rooms, and signed his name next to "First floor, room #1" using the pen that someone had conveniently left.

Returning to his room, Ryan closed the door, reached to lock it, and found no lock. Eh, I'll find a way to lock it later, he thought. He flopped on the bed and reached to the bedside table on his left, reaching for the familiar radio dial...which was not there. Now...that won't do. Sighing, he got up and left in search of a radio.

Namon opened his eyes. The same roof was over him. The same room surrounded him. Nothing changed.
Namon let out a sigh of relief and closed his eyes again. Images of that horrid time spun through his mind again.
Namon awoke in a panic. Last thing he remembered was Buru and Nagi stabbing each other. They were both dying. No, they were both dead.
Were they? Namon jumped off of the mat and out the door, rushing to Nagi's office. He burst in without knocking, catching the inhabitants off-guard. Right by Nagi's desk was the Commander-General and one other Shinigami. There was no Nagi in sight.
Had Namon failed his promise? Did Nagi and Buru die? He knew Buru to be dead, but Nagi too? Blackness and chaos swirled around Namon's mind, just as when he woke up for the first time. Everything was changing. Nothing stayed the same. The chaos of it all swirled through Namon's mind until he couldn't handle it any more and started screaming.

Namon opened his eyes again. The same nightmare. Yet everything was alright now. Namon was training harder than ever and would soon be applying for a seated position.
Rolling over, Namon spotted the sundial. Eleven in the morning. He had overslept.
Namon leaped off of the mat and grabbed Yaneri-Ja, his Zanpakutou. Rushing out of the door, he stood in the Barrack's hallway, looking around for others. His room was the second one on the second floor. He had lived in it ever since he first came to Buru for Shikai training.
Namon rushed down the stairs and out the door. He needed to get over to the training fields quickly, before he ran out of time...

Holding his lover's hand, Nagi led Yuki up the stairs to the first room on the second floor. The only thing he could think about was the person connected to the hand he was holding and how soft her skin was. His mind was pretty much vacant of anything else at this point. He wasn't going to bother thinking about what would happen once they reached their destination. He already knew. There was no point in dwelling on it out of fear of making him nervous of the idea.

Sliding the door open, he stepped back a moment, allowing Yuki to enter first. He had always seen this gesture as proper etiquette and nobody would ever change his mind on the fact. Though with the mind-set he had at the moment, his mannerly intent also revolved around the idea of getting to close the door himself. He didn't quite know why something like that mattered to him but he'd think about it later. For now, there were other things on his mind and he wasn't going to ruin it for nothing.

The room wasn't as chilly as it used to be. Luciky, everything was tidy and in its rightful place. The temperature didn't concern him but he was indeed grateful that the place wasn't a mess. At least some good came out of the fact that Nagi very rarely used this room to sleep in.

He flashed Yuki a grin as she passed by him and entered the room first. Knowing that she was never into the whole "ladies first" ideal, Nagi wouldn't be surprised to get a "how dare you" look in exchange. Following her inside, he paused for a moment, finally exhaling the breath he'd been holding in. With both feet now inside the door, he reached behind him and closed the sliding door with a snap, separating them from the outside world.

Ryan slid the door almost closed behind him. Normally, he'd lock it, but today was different. He was expecting guests, or rather, one guest, so to speak. I just hope this is the right choice. She said I was lucky, but...well, she should know, and I don't want pity from anyone else, at the very least. He still didn't quite get why he'd extended that invitation either, but...well, it just felt right to talk about it. She'd never been to a fair anyway, so why not tell her about what it was like?

Hirimi had gotten horribly lost trying to find the 5th Squad barracks, though it was expected. Hirimi didn't have any sense of direction(rather depressing...), so it had taken much longer then normal to get to the barracks. When she did she was completely relieved, and completely out of breath. She had already figured out which room was Ryan's so she just watched out for the room. When she reached it she stared at the door for a moment, then knocked, hoping he was there.

Ryan slid the door open, nodding. "Come in, Miss Hirimi." To tell the truth, he was quite nervous - he barely knew this person and already he wanted to talk alone with her. It wasn't something he normally did, and he didn't have a lot of experience talking with people he didn't know well aside from politely as he would speak to a guest, really. He pushed his nervousness aside, though, now was not the time for that.

Hirimi gave him a warm smile when he greeted her. When he told her to come in, she did what she was told, glancing around the room, before glancing back at him. "How are you feeling?" She was refering to his injuries, since he had just left the healing rooms.

Ryan touched the side of his neck, where he still had a burn scar. "I'm feeling...better. A lot better. The burns twinge a bit sometimes, but I feel a lot better than I did at the end of the battle, at least." He slid the door closed, locking it, then gestured to the bed, which was really one of the only pieces of furniture in the room. "Please, sit down..."

Hirimi smiled when he said he was feeling better. "That's good to hear." When he motioned for her to sit down, then reinforced it with his words, she nodded. She walked over and sat down on the bed and glanced at him. "What was it you needed to talk about?"

Ryan sat next to her, there being nowhere else to sit, really, and just looked off into space. "You said I was lucky to be able to go to the fair...but we all were. It's something everyone looked forward to, everyone had hope for. A week of hope, really." He sighed. "Have you ever heard of the Great Depression?"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 24, 2008 4:25 pm

Hirimi listened to what he said about the fair. "From how you've explained it, it sounded like a lot of fun..." When he mentioned the Great depression she thought for a moment, she did recognize it... a little, but didn't know how. She finally shook her head. "It sounds familiar but I don't know what it was...."

Ryan shrugged, but only a bit. The Depression wasn't something to shrug off. "I lived in the thick of it. There was barely any work, everyone barely got by. The winds and dust storms were so much that there were barely any crops each year, and I was taught to conserve everything - even water. We all tried to have hope that everything would end, that better times would come..."

He sighed, looking up at the ceiling. "Our hope was the fair. One week where we could forget our hardships and have some luxury, a week of celebration. Everyone had fun, everyone pitched in, and we all had hope then. Hope that someday, somehow, all of the dust storms would end, we'd be able to pick up and move on somehow. No more sitting inside waiting for the storm to pass, then sweeping out all the dust. No more seeing people pick up and leave, hoping to find work elsewhere. Just celebration, relaxation, music, fireworks...we were all lucky for that."

This time, Ryan looked at the floor. "But whenever I was there, I saw happy families. Everyone had their whole family there...I only had my uncle, the hired man, and his daughter there with me. Everyone knew us, many looked on me with pity. Even though no one wanted the fair to end, everyone wanted to hear my harmonica playing, where we could all completely forget our troubles and just be lost in music. I was still jealous though, because everyone else had a mother and a father there. I didn't...I never knew my father, and my mother was...well, she died not long after I was born."
PostPosted: Sun Aug 24, 2008 7:19 pm

Hirimi didn't say anything while he spoke, just listening and thinking about what he said. She couldn't help but have the feeling of sorrow for him, but sort of jealous he could atleast remember his life while he was living. Ever since Hirimi had arrived at Soul Society she hadn't run into anyone who knew who she was when she was alive. When he finished, she remained silent for a moment, wondering why he trusted her in telling her this. After several moments, she responded. "I'm sorry... It must be hard for you to talk about it.... especially to a stranger like me."

Ryan shook his head. "It's not so much of a problem, just so long as you would, please, keep it quiet. I don't want pity from everyone again. I've had enough pity for being from a so-called broken family, from my mother dying and my father going off looking for work. I've had to defend my father when others have tried to kick dirt in his face for going to find work." He sighed. "I've long since had enough of walking into town and seeing everyone look at me and feel sorry for me, even if they won't say it. It made me stay home more, and then people thought my uncle was working me hard or something, or just more pity because of other things later on. They didn't get it. Only those closest to me knew that I hated being pitied and wanted to just move on with my own life."
