Neliah paused at the edge of Fallenstand's territory, sniffing the bitterly cold air. "Time for Patrol. Again." she thought, looking out at the snow-covered flatlands. She longed for the warm spring, when everything would burst into exciting colors and life, but that season was still a few moons away.
But with the faint scent of deer in the air, she knew that life must go on. She leaped over a snowbank, throwing a quick glance over her shoulder to see if she would go on Patrol alone.

Ari Yawned nothing like freezeing your toes in the morning over a patrol trip. Not to mention the ice the seemed to coat her. She stoped a few times making her round nothing fun ever happened these days. wasnt even worth patroling no one was gonna do anything.
Suddenly the smell of a deer caught her nose and her stomach reacted giving a long growl. A bit of a morning snack wouldnt hurt. Crouching she slinked forward. Then pounced, but what she pounced on was in no way a deer.....

Neliah yelped as something brown and heavy leaped on top of her. AGH! A deer is attacking me?! she slumped in the snow, ready to flip around and teach that deer who the real predator was! But the scent of cat filled her icy snout instead. Sharp claws pricked her back, but Neliah was far from panicking. She tried to throw the Saber off, but she was simply too small.
Neliah wriggled through the snow instead, just enough to get her snout free. "INTRUDERS IN THE TERRITORY!" she yowled, determined to at least give the Pride a fair warning! Without another word or a look at the intruder, she continued to wriggle through the snow, trying to shake the attacking cat off.

Ari snorted as she yelled out "im no intruder ill have you know." She steped off the much smaller saber and laughed, "well your sadly no deer, nor do you even look like one." with a thump she sat down. She eyed the saber a moment before nodding, "why they let a tiny thing like you patrol i dont know, specially if i pined you that easy."
She glanced around. She sighed well they were on the same side at least her yowl made sure of that trying to alert the territory pfft she wasnt a intruder.....

Neliah shook off the snow of her head, her ears still drawn back in displeasure. "Well, I'm no preybeast, I'll have you know. And at least I can tell the difference between a deer and a Saber!" she snarled back before licking the scratches on her shoulder. This must be Ari... she had heard whispers in the Pride, of a cat with a sharp tongue and even sharper claws.
She looked over the spotted fur of the other cat. "I'm on Patrol because I can get it done in half the time it takes any other cat! What's your excuse?" she said hotly. Her temper hadn't quite cooled yet, but she did want to keep the other cat talking. How did the other saber sneak up on her without Neliah noticing?

She eyed the other saber, "my exuse? First off i dont have to give you my excuse...." Had to be he tiny one with a mouth didnt she.... "second off this is where they put me... its not like i openly say let me freeze my toes off." She growled a bit, "And maybe if you didnt go sneeking around i wouldnt have flattened you.... not my fault your easy prey."

Neliah gave the other saber a withering glare, but abruptly started to laugh in spite of herself. The bickering was beginning to get tedious anyway. "Hahaha! You're Ari, aren't you!" she snickered some more, stealing more glances at the bigger saber. "You're exactly how everyone says!" her paws curled in amusement, though her pads were beginning to freeze off.

Ari raised her eye brows, "yes my names Ari and what have they been saying? ill have to beat them all later." She grumbled then glanced up at Neliah. "well i know who you are to, only because people like to comment on your pattern, its fun....." she stoped ok now she was being a bit to nice.....
"how about we finish this up so we can take a break, my feet are freezeing..." She stood up shaking off before trotting a littleways before looking back to see if the other was following, "and ill make sure no one else decides your preyfood."

Neliah smirked, flicking her stubby tail as she rose to her paws. Choosing to ignore the jibe about her fur. "Alright, let's get going then." In a flash, Neliah had raced around Ari and was waiting in the snow in front of her, scenting the air. "What are you waiting for?" she asked innocently. "The scent of deer comes from... thataway." she motioned to the west with a shake of her head, towards a thick pine forest.

Ari's jaw droped and for several moments she just stared at Neliah. The finally relizing it was down she closed her mouth and trotted after, "well then your welcome to lead the way, or i will." and she quickly moved past her towards the pine forest.
"ill just scout the area for any unknown sabers." she was trying to glue back her pride.

Neliah blinked. She didn't mean to make her companion feel that bad about her abilities. "Umm, okay then..." she said. It wasn't her fault she was just so fast... she just was! A gift, perhaps.
Feeling awkward and torn, she ran to do what she enjoyed - tracking! The scent of deer was getting stronger... but she wrinkled her nose anyway. It was the scent of a strong, young buck. Alone, but not small or sickly. She followed the smell up a ridge and through some forested terrain, and finally spotted it. She sighed. The buck was just too huge! "I'll never take it down, even with Ari's help..."

With out a sound Ari was easyly at Neliahs side and looked the buck over. "Hes big, im big, but not that big." She whispered it and still his eyes seemed to focus on him. "i think i like the use of my legs at the moment maybe we should track something smaller, given its only the two of us?" She shrugged, "but we can give him a run for his money i bet."
She licked her lips her stomach was gonna get her in trouble one of these days, "of course where theres one theres often more." Backing up she looked around. "now we just have to wonder where, and hope he didnt warn them." She smiled at Neliah.

Neliah slowly shifted her eyes from the buck to Ari, and back again. After pausing, she finally said "No. I think we can take him." A mischievous gleam flickered in Neliah's eyes. "Unless you don't think you're strong enough." Her gaze hardened. "Unless you don't think I'm fast enough."
Neliah's grin grew wider as she heard Ari's stomach growl. "What do you say?" She asked, her smiling revealing bright sharp teeth. "Besides, the buck's horns haven't even grown in yet. What's the worst that could happen?"

"whats the worst..." she seemed to ponder over it, "well we'll not find out." She gave back the same smile. "i say we take this buck, he wont out do us..."
She laughed before turning and charging at him. "ill get the hind his back legs probley stronger. you can tease him." She laughed then growled and pounced.

Neliah nodded, and rose from the snowbank. She moved slowly at first, making sure the buck was still with fear as he watched her. She darted back and forth as Ari jumped on the buck from behind, throwing snow into the buck's face. "It's good to keep dinner cold!" she giggled.
Neliah began swiping her sharp claws all around the front of the deer - the eyes, the snout, the throat - all while avoiding the kicking, flailing hooves of the young buck. Her ears were pounding with the sound of the hunt in her ears, as well as her quickened heartbeat. It's good to be out on patrol!
