What's in a name?

*In case you wanted to know, Rose of Pluto was chosen as my username because another one that I had was Pluto's Rose, and I was angered by the fact that I couldn't use an apostrophe. Hence the "of". I answer to Pluto, because it sounds a little more like a name than "Rose of Pluto" does.

*Another random fact is that I'm obsessed with anything and everything Shakespeare. So beware.

If music be the food of love, play on...

*I've been writing since I was seven years old. Which is seven years, in case anyone was wondering. Most of my earlier projects have kind of died out, or were based on Winx Club (no joke), or were stories about imaginary friends (didn't have a lot of real ones when I was little).

My current project I've been working on since I was in the third grade, and it's come a long, long, long way since then. When I first started writing the story, it was a tale about a group of spies who had special powers, and went to a special school to learn about them (Spy Kids, anyone?) But since then, the characters have sort of grown up (when I first started writing the story, they were eleven or twelve, now they're sixteen and seventeen), and it's no longer about spies, just the powers, more characters were created, and there's a bit of romance in there as well.

Well, truthfully, I started writing it in the third grade, and picked up again five years later. But, I think you get the picture...

So, hi. I'm Pluto, and this is my journal. First order of business? Actually getting a decent amount of that story that's been haunting me since I was eight...

What is the Winx club? Haha.

Im glad to hear you have kept a series going on as long as you have given your age. When I was that young I had so many ideas I kept writing different stories.

I swear that Microsoft Word is out to get me. It really is. It's staring. at. me. It's probably going to attack while I'm looking around Barton for a halfway decent roleplay.

You see, one of my goals has always been to actually complete one of my submissions for a Writer's Digest contest, and the problem isn't that I don't have an idea, or an idea how to begin or anything like that.

No.

It's because Microsoft Word is staring at me.

It's very intimidating, that blank document, just ready to attack you when you least expect it. Very intimidating. Part of the reason I didn't finish my submission last time, I bet. Or it could be because I was working my a** off in school, but I digress.

If someone sees me back here, remind me that I need to finish that submission before I turn twenty.

Or at least remind me to hit my brother over the head for criticizing my off-key singing.

Hey, I like to sing to the song I'm listening to, and whenever I write, I listen to music. So sometimes, the two happen at the same time. So, sue me. >.<

I don't like MSWord, but it does have its uses.

Finish your submission beore you turn twenty, and hit your brother extra hard for me. I can sing, and pretty damn well...just not when it involves singing along with a song. I'm all OVER choir songs.

I know of a website that have this black box with green text, plus auto save, and that's pretty much it. If you want it, because it might help, I can go see if I can dredge it up.

If you could do that, that'd be great. biggrin I'd love to check it out if you can find the link.

The good news is, I was hit with a bit of inspiration while watching an episode of Miss Marple. So it might not take six years to write 1500 words after all. sweatdrop

While hunting around Barton for a half-way decent roleplay (like I pretty much always do), I realized something. Well, sort of.

You see, there was this one rp where you had to write a paragraph for the character's bio, and the one character that I was applying to roleplay as, I wrote seven paragraphs of the character's bio. In that character's point of view, and it worked out pretty well.

The bad part about this is, I have no idea how to maintain a first person point of view without making everything seem so...boring.

It's easier to be god-like in my own universe, not to live in it.

For a lot of people I've talked to, that seems to be true. After all, why would we want to live a normal life when we can step in and be all powerful...but then again, interesting things, really interesting things, happen in the universe of a writer.

So I guess both are good, but I'm way used to writing in third person. Could work, could be a totally stupid idea - I've only written something in the way of three thousand or so words, so I think I can experiment a bit...

First person, ugh, you either have too much going on or not enough. And then you have to poke the story along with a stick X_X;.

Have you tried DarkRoom or Q10 to write in? They're both free software programs designed by NaNo participants.

No, I haven't checked those out yet. I keep forgetting to. DX I used to love to write in the first person, but I never really found a voice that fit. Kept slipping back into my own. crying

So it's nearly ten o'clock at night, and I think I've become braindead. At ten o'clock at night. And I usually do the bulk of my writing at nighttime, too. Reason I haven't found something else to occupy my time is that I'm working on a few journalistic pieces for another site, and it sort of saps my energy for some reason. X_X And writing about escaped convicts in Hogsmeade isn't exactly my idea of a rigorous sort of mental endevour in the least.

I had hit this major bump in the road in my project. In the main part of the story, he's at a school for people who are "different"/they have powers, that sort of thing, and the reason I had hit the bump was because I had no feasible way of getting the MC there.

It'd sort of be like if Harry Potter found out he was a wizard, but didn't know where Hogwarts was. That sort of thing.

So I'm probably going to have to go back, and try something else. Because I can't exactly have the story work out if the MC isn't there.

Speaking of stories, my contest submission has fallen flat on its face. Or something like that. I got about two hundred or so words out before it died, which is why I'm trying to revive it. I want to have a chance at winning, after all, even if the chances are rather slim.

And, on another note, a fanfiction project is trying to take over my computer. It's an HP one with Uber!Sympathy and Voldemort's tehUber tragic past, or something like that.

I'll come back when I can type in coherent sentences again...

OooOoOoohh, can I read that fanfic? It sounds amazing-tastic.

Sorry, I'm a spaz this late at night.

That fanfic DOES sound like fun!

I wish I knew enough HP cannon to be able to read it and truly appreciate it X_X.

Anyway- when you get the chance- DarkRoom is my favorite. It's so BLANK.

Little leftover bits of stories that never were have a way of turning into parts of other bigger and better stories. Just you watch...

I am Lord Voldemort

I wrote it a while back, in December. Took me about ten minutes too. Still, looking back on it, it could've been a lot better, but I think it's pretty decent for the time that it took me to write it.

I have an edited version lying around somewhere, but I haven't been around fanfiction for a while, and am a bit lazy when it comes to uploading. X_X
