AIM LOG: Illuseon & _ p a o cx

Naya blinked her eyes open, a yawn escaping her before she could stop it. The femme rubbed the weariness from her eyes and smiled at the view before her. The sun was just beginning to peak out of the horizon, tinging the sky soft touches of orange and yellow. Sunrise - her favorite part of the day. A refreshing ocean breeze brought the femme to her feet, and she gave her slender body a good long stretch before beginning to walk. An early start to her journey for the day, and it helped that she was nearby the ocean. It wasn't as hot as the savanna, and there was always shade to be found. Which she was grateful for since she didn't do very well in the heat. Bright blue eyes scanned the area around her, and she frowned. No one around, as usual..

Imara'Maji was already at the beach, unable to sleep much at all the previous night despite the calming sound of the waves lapping at the shoreline lulling him into a dreamy, sleepy state. Once the sun had begun to rise, he'd given up and made his way to the beach where he let the ocean cool down his paws after his initial walk. At some point along the way Maji stopped to admire the sunrise, the breeze making its way through his mane- he couldn't help but to close his eyes and smile a bit. Maji had only just arrived in the area recently, and so he had met very few lions, and even less of any other species that may inhabit the majestic shores. As the sun continued to rise Maji opened his mouth wide in a hearty yawn, a rumbling growl escaping his throat, though it was lost in the waves' sonata.

The ocean itself was now in sight, and caught up in the excitement (since she'd never been to the ocean before, just told stories) Naya sprinted toward it, laughing along the way. It'd been a while since she last felt excited about any one thing, the loneliness of traveling alone having gotten the better of her long ago. Naya didn't slow down until her paws touched the water, it's touch cool and very soothing. Not wanting the feeling to leave her, the cheetah female began to walk along the shore, the sound of the crashing waves filling her ears. It was nice here...something she could definitely get used to. As she walked on, a blue pelt was slowly coming into view as well. Unfamiliar, no doubt, and a lion from the looks of it (she noticed the mane once she got close enough). Thinking that he was from around these parts she padded on up to him with a smile. "Good morning," she greeted happily.

Maji, in his own little state of euphoria amidst the ocean's waves and the pink streaks across the morning sky, had been so caught up in the moment that he failed to notice the presence of another creature nearby, not to mention that the salty sea spray covered up most any scent nearby and the waves obscured the ears. It was not until Naya had gotten very close and had spoken to him that his eyes snapped open and he jumped up, staring at her. His shocked look did not leave his face, for after his initial shock was over he remained quite in awe of the cheetah's beauty- her coat resembled the color of the sea's foamy green, the ocean he loved so much. "Oh!" He came to his senses then, quite embarassed for having been so surprised by her. "My apologies, I didn't realize there was anyone else nearby." Maji returned her smile with his own tranquil grin, sitting back down with his tail swaying behind him. "Good morning to you too~"

Naya giggled at the lion's reaction. He was surprised, no doubt because of the surrounding elements. The salty scent of the ocean blocked out most other scents, and the sound of its waves was all one could really hear. "Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you.." she apologized, "It's...just been a while since I've seen anybody else around. I got a little caught up, I guess." And the cheetah turned her attention to where the lion had been looking just moments ago, and her smile returned. "It's really beautiful though, isn't it?" she went on. "I've never been to the ocean, but it really makes a sunrise look all the more beautiful.."

"Never been!" Maji was almost aghast. Never been to the ocean? It seemed almost cruel to one like Maji, who loved the ocean so. "That's no good, the ocean is a wonderful place. Oh- I've forgotten my manners. My name is Imara'Maji, but you may just call me Maji if you prefer." He bowed lightly to Naya, a small smile on his face as he kept his dark sapphire colored eyes on her own. "You've been alone awhile, you said? Truth be told, you're the first cheetah I've seen since I came to this land-" He stopped himself from continuing on. Maji had a horrid habit of speaking without thinking beforehand, so saying anything too cheesy may drive the poor girl off.

The female only smiled as he spoke, seeing how much he loved the ocean simply by his reaction to what she'd said. She had that sort of passion once, before she left home as an adolescent. It had been for her family, her brothers and sisters.. her father. Naya shook the thoughts from her mind, knowing it wouldn't help with keeping her moods up for the day. It always managed to sadden her, in fact. "It's nice to meet you, Maji. My name is Adannaya, but most people I've met just call me Naya. Shorter, and easier to say." Another giggle passed her lips when he cut his sentence short. Why he did, she'd never really understand, but instead she decided to comment on everything prior to the abrupt ending of his sentence. "Yes, I've been on my own since adolescence. As for being the first cheetah you've seen around here...I'm kind of surprised. It's so pretty here...you'd think everyone would coming running for the view."

"Haha," Maji chuckled. "It's true, the ocean is very beautiful. But it's not for everyone. I've met lions who are terrified of it, in fact. The ocean.. is much like any other living thing. It has its dark side." His smile had faded a little and his head had tilted towards the ground some, eyes gazing at the gentle waves as they licked both his and Naya's paws. "Naya.. is a lovely name." Giving his head a shake, as if to shake himself out of his trance, Maji looked back up towards the horizon, which the sun had now left behind. He prided himself on his manners and appearance, and refused to allow himself to sink so easily. "Morning is such an attractive time- oh! But you must stay to see the sunset as well. The sea's sunset is quite incredible if I do say so- I think you would be able to appreciate it." Maji's smile had grown back by the time he looked back to the seafoam-colored cheetah.

She almost blushed at the compliment to her name. If only he were a cheetah.. Nevertheless, she always felt it was rude not to thank someone for a compliment. "Thank you," she said with a smile, then turned her attention back to the horizon. Staying the for day...might be a good idea, really. She was tired, she loved the ocean, and this particular lion was much nicer than most others she'd met. "I guess that makes sense," she replied to his comment about how the ocean wasn't for everyone. "And...I think I'd like to stay until sunset. I've always loved the colors in the sky at sunset. I haven't missed one since I left home, and that was a while ago." She glanced back at Maji. "And if the ocean makes it as incredible as you say, there's no way I could pass it up."

Maji's smile only grew at her acceptance of his offer to stay. "Wonderful! Though I'm not sure what to do until then." His eyes turned thoughtfully upward toward the sky, becoming increasingly more blue as the day progressed. "Well," he looked back over to her with sincere curiosity, the tip of his tail flicking about behind him. "Where exactly did you leave from? If you don't mind me asking. It seems like it was a fair time ago." After he had finished his statement his mind wandered to his own home and why he had left it, something he hadn't thought much about since he'd arrived in this new land. But because of his own circumstances is why he had a genuine inquisitiveness towards Naya's own origins.

Naya frowned slightly at his question about her old home, though it was more a lonely smile than an upset sort. Naturally, it was her family that first came to mind...she missed them, whether or not she was going to admit it out loud or not. "Mmm.." she started to answer. "I lived with my family back in the savanna. We considered a particular oasis home, since it had water and plenty of shade to go around. It was near a jungle, kind of. It was just me, my brothers and sisters, and our father. Our mother left when me and my siblings were still very young." The femme had to stop a moment, having to push all the memories back enough so a tear wouldn't accidentally escape. "Uhm...I left when I was an early adolescent. I haven't been back since."

Maji tilted his head a bit, frowning upon noticing that Naya's disposition had obviously changed for the worst. He wasn't sure whether to continue on with the conversation or to simple leave it at that. Despite his curiosity, he didn't care to sadden the cheetah any more than he already had, so he began his own story instead. "Oh, I see... I didn't have much of a family at my own home. I did belong to a clan then, one that lived near the ocean, I'm sure that's where my love of it came from. It's all I've ever known." Maji's eyes had grown a little sad, and his smile was weak, but still present. "Er, well things didn't exactly work out in the end, so I left and came to this place. It's fine though- it's all the same ocean you know."

She was happy that he didn't ask any more questions about her past, though not so much when he talked of his own. It seemed that both of them had a fairly lonely history, so she figured it'd be a good time to change the subject. "Right.." Though how she would do that...she didn't really know. "Well I guess we have that in common, don't we?" she said with a somewhat unsure smile. "Uhm...so how about a change of subject? I think we could use it..What do you like to do around here when the sun's not rising or setting?" She didn't mean to sound insensitive, but she really didn't want to talk about anything depressing, so she couldn't help it.

"Haha, probably for the best." Maji chuckled again, somewhat emptier than his previous laughter, but he had already decided that it was time to lighten things up. At that, he stood and stretched out, yawning much like he had earlier that morning, forelegs stretching forth and his tail strung straight out. "Let's see.." he pondered as he stood. "That's a good question. I suppose just go for walks and explore, move on to new places. I.. don't usually have company with me." Maji laughed gently at himself. "I must seem so boring- what do you normally do during the day?"

Naya smiled a bit apologetically at him again, feeling as though she was a little too insensitive, whether or not it was for the better. She listened to him speak, now very unsure of what to say so that she wouldn't offend him again. At his last comment about being a little boring she laughed lightly. "It's the same for me, Maji," she replied with a small smile. "I wake up, watch the sunrise, then walk until I get tired or when I find a safe place to stay for the night. I think it's the same for any traveler." She stood up on all fours and stretched herself out like he had, then turned her eyes to the seemingly unending shoreline. "Since we're both so good at it, how about we walk along the shore together and talk? Maybe we'll run into something interesting along the way.."

Maji only felt somewhat angered with himself, feeling that he had ruined the mood by bringing up their pasts. Naya did not seem to be feeling any better at all. "I suppose you're right. I was always under the impression that the life of a vagabond was exciting. But now I see what stories those were." He merely shrugged it off and smile carelessly. Already standing, he turned to the west and took a step forward before looking back to Naya. "If we go this way, I know of a nice cliff side where we could watch the sunset from. It's a fair distance away, since the shoreline turns at some point ahead." He grinned at her again, struggling to cheer her up. "I'd love to talk some more with you, we have plenty of time..."
