Naya had taken to lazing about in the shade of a fairly large boulder, her body exhausted from the travel she'd done for most of the day. Since early morning, in fact. The femme was lying on her stomach, tail swaying calmly behind her as she looked on into the horizon. It was very...uneventful. Not even a breeze blew past, and with a sigh she lowered her head to start grooming herself. It was all she could do to keep herself entertained, really. As she did so, her mind began to wander back to her days as cub, playing innocently with her brothers and sisters, their father's watchful eye making sure they didn't hurt each other too much.
Her father..
Naya stopped mid-lick, her father's face suddenly flashing for a second in her mind. He was the reason she had to leave.. Him, with his strict rules and demanding traditions. Him, with his strange ways and twisted mind...
The cheetah shook the thoughts from her mind, and the tears on the corners of her eyes. "I...was right for leaving.." she said to herself, then tried to push the thoughts away by concentrating on grooming once again.

Jishin, alone as always, made her way towards a rather big shaded area. The cause of the shade, was a nice sided boulder. She didn't notice the other that was there, nor was she really particularly paying any mind to anything at all. She had ran away from her huge family. All pathetic as they were. It was good to be alone, at least as alone as she could get. She had met a female lion who had decided to take her in. Or at least what Jishin was using her for, was shelter until she was old enough to leave.
She really didn't have any care for the lioness. It wasn't like she should care, right? She was just another opportunity to take advantage of someone when you had the chance. Just like her mother did with her father. Running off with only one baby, leaving the rest of them with her father. Bleh. She hated leopards, or at least for now she hated them. She wondered if all leopards were the same, and figured that they were.
The day was hot, or what anyone could notice. She didn't pay much until she was thirsty. The sun seemed to be starting to set, but still slightly high in the sky. It was telling her in a few hours it would be the evening, or at least when the sun went down. She normally slept during the day, but today she had stayed up all day. She'd be tired, but she didn't care.

It was probably a good thing that she noticed the company of one other, since grooming herself wasn't enough to get the thoughts of her father out of her head. As the other approached, Naya couldn't help but tilt her head in curiosity. She...didn't look like any species the cheetah femme had ever encountered before, and though she didn't want to sound rude, she'd always been the type to ask questions when she was confused or unsure of something. So Naya cleared her throat, hoping it was enough to catch the attention of the brown femme approaching, and she spoke.
"Uhm..." she started. "I hope you don't mind me asking, but...what species might you be?" Naya finished her question, but felt it was too rude to ask directly without any sort of explanation, so she continued. "I only ask because...well, because I've never seen a species of your kind yet.." And she waited patiently for a, hopefully, kind reply.

Jishin almost jumped when she heard another's voice. Though, she had been in deep thought about nothing really. She stopped almost instantly and just started at the female. Then she realized what she had asked. She could lie, and say she was a cheetah, but she didn't really know what female cheetah's looked like. She only knew what her father looked like. She wasn't about to say she was a leopard, though she couldn't pass as one anyways. She was skinner then one, more like a cheetah, but still not as skinny as a cheetah. She wasn't fast either, she was slow like a leopard.
"Oh... I'm..." She thought about it for a second. Does she dare to say that she is a filthy mix of two breeds of cat? She didn't realize that she wasn't being rude, at least not yet. "I'm a Cheetah mix" She said. She wasn't going to admit that her mother was a leopard. She could lie and say she was a lion and see if that would work. For all, if she was lucky, this female wouldn't realize the difference. She finally gave the other a small glare.

"Oh?" she replied, her attention now completely on the other. "I cheetah mix..that's interesting!" she said with a slight giggle. Naya examined the other femme with a smile, noting her color and her figure. Slender, somewhat like a cheetah, but strong at the same time. No doubt a good mix, whatever that really meant. She...wasn't about to ask, since the expression on her new companion's face didn't really look all too friendly. "Well you're very beautiful, more so than some cheetahs I've met," she said, hoping it was enough to get the small glare off of the other's face.
"I go by Adannaya," the femme then proceeded to introduce herself, just to make up for her earlier, slightly rude question. "Might I ask what your name is?"

That was a little better, the complement anyways. Her being sized up wasn't exactly comforting. She continued to eye the female, but with a less of a glare then before. Suck up, was all she could think, but maybe she was just trying to be nice? "Oh.... Thanks I guess." She said with a rather rude tone, not like she cared what the other said about her, but she kind of did in a way. Being called beautiful was nice, but strange from another female.
"Jishin" She said simply. Her name was weird, yet it meant Earthquake. To her, that meant something with power, or something to do with her being strong. Or whatever. It made her feel proud of her name. At least, for now. She'd probably change her mind later. She flicked her tail a bit. It was thick like a leopards, yet long like a cheetahs.

"Jishin.." he said, testing the name on her tongue. It was a different name, nothing like the names her father had given her and her brothers and sisters. It raised her curiosity all the more, and as she scooted a bit to make room for Jishin in the shade, tons of questions managed to push their way into her mind. Lots of distractions she knew she'd be grateful for later that night. With the way the other female was acting, she felt she would leave before dark. A bit saddening, but at least for now Naya had some company.
"It's a nice name," she commented. "Does it have some sort of meaning?" she asked, then...rambled on a bit. "Being the first born, my father named me what he did because it means 'her father's daughter'. My mother left us with him as soon as we were weaned, and we were all still nameless at that point. So he was left with the task to name us. I guess he named me what he did because I look a lot like him, too.." and she finally caught herself and apologized, smiling and feeling a bit embarassed.

So this female was much like herself. Being left with out a mother. Did that mean that cheetahs were like that too? She didn't like the thought of it. Not one bit. Maybe she should just stick with lions? Would make her brothers and sisters rather angry at the fact. She swished her tail, and noticed the female had moved over a bit. Having done so, Jishin decided it was best to take up the shade before answering anything. She swished her tail as she walked over, and sat down. Not very close to the female.
"It means Earthquake" She said. Not sure if she should say anything else. "It was a name giving to me from my father, as well." She said but decided she didn't need to add the other part. "I was last born, I think" She wasn't quite sure. That was what her father told her, so it must be true, right?

So she was the youngest? Naya's mind went back to the baby of her family, her brother. He looked up to her the most, always tagging along and following her around. She taught him everything their father had taught her as soon as she learned it well enough. He had even wanted to leave with her when she told him that she was going. For some reason, she told him to stay put. For his safety, more than anything else. She was scared that, since she wasn't completely an adult yet, she wouldn't be able to protect him should something attack them..
When Naya's mind returned to the present, she apologized again and cleared her throat. "Sounds like a strong name," she said. "I'm not surprised you're out traveling alone with that kind of name. You probably handle yourself very well, no?" She didn't mean to sound like a brown-noser...really, she didn't. It was just how she was, always finding the good in everybody, no matter how they were acting.

Really, Jishin hadn't ran into any trouble. She didn't understand why others had a fuss. Maybe she was just very lucky, or just knew where not to go. Shrugged. "I manage pretty well, I guess" She said with a nod. She hadn't looked up to anyone, at least not yet. No one showed themselves worthy for her approval.
"But just cause of a name, doesn't mean that it matches who they are." She said with remembering some of her siblings names. Some of them didn't match up to their names. She did, or at least she thought she did. An slight ego she had, which was more then likely to grow as life went on.

"Well..." and Naya paused a moment to think of what to say, exactly. "Your father did a good job of predicting what you'd be like when you got older. At least that's how I see it. Either way, it's still a nice name." The femme gave Jishin a smile, then proceeded to look away. It seemed she wasn't doing a good job of getting the other to get comfortable enough...oh well.
The silence made her uncomfortable, so she prodded around her mind for another topic...and came up dry. "Uhm...so.......why're you traveling along anyway? Did you not like your family or something?"

Was she trying to be a suck up? Jishin eyed her for a moment yet again. She seemed like she was just trying to get on her good side. It was getting annoying. Jishin had a low tolerance for anything it seemed. But that was mostly because of her siblings. "I guess he did." She replied rather dully.
"Something like that I guess." She said with pawing at the ground for amusment. "They are nothing but pathetic worthless wastes of space." It was harsh, but true to her. She should have at least tried to give them a chance, but what was the point? She'd never see them again when she grew up anyways. Why wait? It wasn't like they'd give her 2 cents of their mind. If she was in danger, they were the last she'd go to for help. "But I guess everyone has at least one of those in their family. Unfortunately, I have five." Her father wasn't a waste, he was just too busy with the rest of the family to pay any notice.

Jishin seemed to get more annoyed with her with everything she said. Maybe she was trying too hard to lighten the mood a bit between them? Naya sighed and kept her eyes on her paws, particularly on the spots on the one paw. It was a passive activity, and she did hear everything that Jishin said as she spoke. She just didn't want to get on her nerves, that's all it was. Once the other femme finished speaking, Naya had a frown on her face.
How could somebody hate their family to that extent? That was the question that was surging through her mind now. Though...she wasn't going to ask it. It'd be much too prying, in her opinion. So instead, she thought of something else she could say to comment on it. "I don't believe anybody's a waste of space, like you say, but I suppose that's why my dad used to always say 'to each their own'..."
It was all she could think to say, really..

She gave a shrug. "I'm sure if anyone met them, they'd think the same." She simply said. It was so easy for her to say cruel things about her family. It made her feel good. At least, for a moment. "But you can't like everyone in the world." For her, it was no one, at the moment. She still saw things differently. If they had no use to her, then she'd just leave. One day, it might change, but not soon.
Her tail bobbed up and down, giving a light thumping sound as it did so. The other had changed a bit, perhaps she caught on to her annoyed looks, but no matter. It really wasn't like Jishin was hiding it. "Don't you dislike, or even hate anyone?" She asked, trying to keep the silence away. Not because it was nice to talk, but just because it was uncomfortable sitting next to someone who she just met.

Naya frowned, seeing as nothing she said seemed to get through to the girl. But the cheetah femme let out a sigh and simply let it be, knowing well that it would take more than a few moments to convince Jishin otherwise. Along with that, she didn't know her family at all, and was in no position to tell her how to feel about them. Naya just dropped that subject, and her eyes twitched when Jihin posed a rather interesting question. Or...it was to her, anyway.
There was only one individual that she very much disliked in this world, though she'd never admitted it to anyone, or even out loud. It had always been a feeling she kept to herself...but then, there was always a time and place to admit such things. And Naya felt this was such a situation. So with another sigh the femme shrugged.
"My father, I guess.." she said, and almost immediately started feeling a little uncomfortable with the change of topic.
