  Here the river brought you, and it is here the river meant to be your home, my son... It was another song her mother would sing to Scarlet when she felt alone. Maybe... no, Azzan seemed dead set on escaping, and Scarlet had to think of his happiness. She grazed uneasily... maybe if she hadn't been so short with him it wouldn't have ended so badly. Maybe if she wasn't here she would feel so awful. This was where Syipher had shown Azzan to her to be his mother. She looked around sadly. He'd always retain that image to her. A carefree foal who only wanted love adn to be loved. She sighed deeply and nibbed on a clover.

Azzan walked in the shadows, watching his mother. For some odd reason he was always drawn back to her, his father, and his siblings. 'I guess I cant escape family...' Azzan thought. 'No matter how much they hurt me.' He sighed and scooted farther into the shadows so not to be seen. As much as he was drawn back, he was sure that the events of the last encounter would only repeat this time if he was to re-appear.

Scarlet flped over onto her side, dead, as it were. She hadn't slept much and was tired from keeping up with Ranulf and Sweet. She inhaled the sweet scent of the flowers around her and closed her eyes. "This is your home, my son. Here the river brought you adn it is here the river meant to be your home, my son. When the gods send you a blessing, you don't ask why it was sent..." she hummed quietly to herself. She inhaled again and smiled lightly to herself. Just smiled. Remembering, maybe. she couldn't tell. Maybe she was just slipping into an irrational bliss. Whatever the reason and smile and all it's side effects were warmly welcomed.

Azzan listened to Scarlet. Ever since he had been a foal he had herd her sing him to sleep, and now, seeming solemn, she was doing so to herself. A bit of a tune floated through Azan's mind, and he sung the words in a soft whisper. "This is my home. With my father, mother, brother; oh so noble, oh so strong..." He smiled a bit before shaking the grin from his face. This wasn't his home; he didnt have a home anymore, Sweet made sure of that.

Scarlet heard a voice. Her strained to hear it, her voice stopping as she did. Her brow furrowed but then it clicked. She wriggled on her back to flopp onto her side and popped up. "Azzan," he called softly. She blinked back tears and called again, louder, "Azzan, og my sweet baby, I heard you!" she flopped onto her hip and shook her head. She wasn't crazy, she heard her son. "Baby, I know you're there, don't hide from your mother!"

"Mother..." Azzan whispered in a tone little more than the sound of his breath slipping over his lips. "She's a skinwalker..." Scarlet had made it clear he was the son of the mare that had left her and his dad scarred. 'This was my home. All this pain and devastation, How it tortures me inside...' The once happy tune that had been floating through his mind had taken a darker course, and as these new words crossed through his thoughts he couldn't help wonder why he had come back in the first place.

"Azzan, I know what you're thinking. I raiused you, believe me I know. That monster may have born you, but it was I who raised you. I nurtured you and I loved you with all my heart. And as you grew so did my love for you. Even now as you break my heart I love you more then you can know." Scarlet forced a smile and said softly, "a family is a group bound together by bonds of love far greater than any other. You can murder someone and still I will love you, as will your father and your brother. You cannot adopt that kind of love."
