Mittrei watched as the sun sank on the horizon. She could never decide if she loved this time of day or hated it. It was when she usually woke up but something about the way the sun stained the clouds red always stirred an uneasiness within her. She wouldn't call it a fear... not even an anxiety in strength. It was only the softest stirring of emotion and memory yet tonight it was enough to put her in a foul mood.

"If I have one more mongrel foal coming up to me and saying 'Ooooh! A butterfly!'...." She left her muttered threat unfinished and instead tore a clump of grass from the ground for her breakfast. She truly had little patience for foals that weren't related to her. They were noisy, hardly ever good conversationalists, and mostly acted the same as any other foal.

That one kalona colt she met had been interesting. A dry smirk came to her face at that particular memory. It was odd that those of the evil persuasion seemed to mature so much faster than the fluffy happy ones. It was almost a pity... but she didn't want much to do with the fluffy ones anyways, foal or adult.

She bit off another mouthful of grass and spread her wings to catch the sun's last rays. Might as well enjoy the warmth of it while it lasted. Hopefully she could enjoy a night free of idiots for once.

While the sun rested in the sky above, a gentle tremble lifted a flock of birds who intended to roost in a nearby tree, until their safety was threatened. The indefinate sound of hoofbeats then began to follow the faint tremble, and a stallion's figure, outlined by the last gleaming of the sun grew closer and closer into sight.

Castillo's hooves kicked up small mounds of dirt behind him, the strange equine booking it to get to nowhere, but away from where he came. Having been used for years as a war horse, he had finally determined his time of revolution and rebellion, and made a break for it the chance he had. For days he had been running, running for his freedom and a life where he called the shots, like he had always been disillusioned with. The stallion would always get the idea in his head, that he, of all other horses, deserved the best... for he 'suffered more than any other', that is, at least in his mind.

The closer the stallion drew, the louder the noise of his hooves, his dangling reins, the fluers and stirrups of his saddle, and his heavy breath grew. Barely having time to glance around, or think for that matter, he had not yet come to see the mare ahead, but as her form registered in his mind, he bellowed out in a less than mannered tone, "Out of my way!!"

Mittrei had been prepared to dive out of the way when she saw the stallion come charging. After all, it wasn't in her best interest to get trampled into the ground. She was firmly aware of her small flutter stature and relative delicateness compared to other more robust soquili kinds. She wasn't out to take any avoidable injuries.

When she heard the shouted order, all that changed. She was quite willing to leap out of way for her own safety but was absolutely not willing to do so at someone else's command for their inconvenience.

With no time left to think, Mittrei did the first thing that came to mind. Her wings flared and fanned out, doubling her apparent size. The eyes on her wings matched her true eyes as they blazed with indignant ire. "I absolutely will NOT!" If he crashed into her, so be it. He wouldn't emerge unscathed and her body would be injured less than her pride would be otherwise.

((I apologize for the slow return; You know... with Jack and all))

The last thing on Cast's mind had been conflict with another Soquili, but after a monotonous running, he was easily phased. Lowering his head and making threatening jabs into the air with his horn and fluers, he drew a more aiming path towards the flutter Soq.

His hooves still trampled the ground with a sense of irrateness behind him, tail winding and snaking angrily, up till his eyes found themselves focused on the flutter's wings. Finally, Castillo seemed to realize this was.. a rather intimidating foe, be it a female, but intimidating nonetheless. Managing to cut his concentration on straight at her, the mutant uni slowed to an untrained trot, and half circled to her left.

Now lifting his head, Castillo snorted and looked at her from the side. "Well now, what ugly mannerism from a mare." he said spitefully. "Maybe they should stick a saddle on YOU and have you prance around for them.." he said, in a reference to two-leggers.

The stallion's attitude certainly didnt match his regal and almost royal looking pelt, and behind such scattered bangs were the eyes of a hateful creature, whose discipline had now gone to waste.

Mittrei had met her fair share of obnoxious stallions but this one had more nerve than an irate snapping turtle. Her lip curled back in a sneer of distaste for his company. He'd nearly stomped her into the ground and now had insulted her. If he thought he'd get away from this unscathed he was vastly mistaken.

"Or maybe they should have tied that scarf around YOUR mouth tighter so you'd be forced to be silent and the rest of us wouldn't have to endure you." she snapped back with an acid bite of disdain to her tone.

Weren't unicorns supposed to be polite? All the other ones she'd met had lived up to that standard and this one, perhaps the most physically appealing one that she'd seen, was also the rudest. She looked him over with a curiosity that did nothing to diminish her irritation for the stranger. Once finished, she tossed her head and mane back while her customary smirk took it's place back up on her face.

"What are you doing out here, anyways? Running away from your two-legged masters?"

With a wonderfully fowl glare, Cast gnawed on the cloth wrapped around his snout and reared his head back a bit, and took a scrape of the ground with his hoof.

"Watch it, mare.." he warned quitely, but with a little less hate to his voice. He was well aware he was a bit more bound than she, and she could easily trip him up with the reins and belts that made up the uncomfortable restraints of his saddle.

Cast unfortunately had not had enough contact with wild Soquili to know how to act apon meeting one, where as his former masters treated him as well as his fellow captives as supply.

"And yes... I am.." he said pulling his head back and lowering his eyelids a bit to imitate a more calmed-down mood. "Sick of those creatures... feh..." he snorted distastefully. "Laced me in this.. annoying contraption, then thought... somehow... that it was a great idea to latch these cast-iron fleurs to me.." he said looking back to the one on his rump, which served as (somehow) armor, and a weapon.

Mittrei's eyebrows raised in unison at the verification of what was just meant to be a caustic remark. So he had run away from humans? Being bound to such creatures was something that Mittrei could never imagine enjoying so the only surprise in his answer was that he had taken as long as he did. It couldn't be that hard to run away. Humans never seemed terribly intelligent to Mittrei in what she'd seen of them.

"Perhaps they thought to decorate you with all those devices you hate to distract from your obnoxious personality." Her tone had all semblance of sweetness but for the mocking undertones that ran through it. He was being less annoying now but she hadn't forgotten his entrance and wouldn't let him forget so soon either.

No one was going to treat her with such disrespect and not live to rue the encounter.

((LOL RUE.))

The Uni's tail whipped around behind him occasionally, as he slowly padded across the ground towards a few scattered rocks buried in the earth, and leaned his head down idly digging at them while he listened to the mare, to avoid having to be poilte but also to avoid being rude by not listening at all.

"Perhaps.. but the humans wouldnt have understood me anyways... and I can assure you I wasnt the only upset equine in their posession." he said, looking back up and glancing back to Mittrei. "Judging by your naive assumptions, youve never been in the hands of a two legger." he said starting to smirk a bit. "But of course, judging by your independent nature Im sure youd manage to escape /somehow/ should that ever happen."

((YOU WILL RUE THE DAY YOU LOLED MY RUE!))

"Hmph. Of course I would." Mittrei hadn't moved when the stallion had gone to digging holes in the ground... or whatever it was he was doing. Only her eyes had followed him and those golden orbs were alight with a self-confident disdain. "Even if they sneaked up on me in my sleep and caught me I'd be able to fly away the next day. If they tied me up I'd just shrink down to my smaller size and get out of the ropes."

Smugness added onto the disdain already present. "That's one of the many reasons I enjoy being a flutter." To accentuate her point, she unfurled her wings again and gently fanned them up and down. Her wide moth wings had always been a source of pride to her. They suited her.

It was only unfortunate that the stranger before her didn't seem well suited to his breed. Mittrei idly speculated on his heritage while watching him. Maybe if he was only half unicorn and half something less pleasant it would explain his behavior.
