The wind blew gently through the lands, tossing Misaki's mane slightly as she rested. Her journey had last many days now, she had bedded down next to the river under the protection of a large willow. She watched as the streaming branches danced in the wind.

She began to wonder if she'd ever find her sister, she didn't even know if Vara still roamed this area or if she had moved on to other places. She could only hope that with time, her path would lead her to her family.

Misaki lie there, closing her eyes to listen to the songbirds in the distance. It was peaceful, it reminded her of 'home'.

It hadn't been long since he had grown up. It seemed to happen so suddenly. He still wasn't completely used to this newer, larger body, so he still moved a bit awkwardly. He had left his mother and his brother behind for some time to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet.

The bangles on his hind legs jingled as he came into a clearing. It was quite a nice day out, and he was sure he would enjoy it. It was nice to be away from his difficult family sometimes.

As she listened to the songs being sang by the birds, Misaki's ears picked up another sound. It sounded like bits of metal, or...no, she was sure that was metal. Opening her eyes, she surveyed the surrounding, she couldn't tell exactly with direction the noise was coming from.

Just as her eyes glanced over the treeline in the distance, a stallion with glimmering strands adorning his body made his appearance. Misaki's head tilted with curiousity. She watched as he stepped, she heard the jingles again. She concluded that it was the stallion's adornments that she heard.

He was a stunning looking soquili, his colors graceful and the markings on his legs were intricate. She was intrigued by his adornments and colorations. Misaki nickered in greetings, not wanting to impede on his path if he wasn't interested in company.

Shen blinked a bit as he stepped out of the shade from the trees, and scanned the landscape. He thought he saw something in the distance, so he made his way towards it to inspect some more.

When he got close enough to see, he smiled. It was a beautiful mare. He had never seen anybody quite like her. He noticed right away that she had a horn like him and his mother and brother, but that was about the only similarity. He allowed his eyes to look her over, taking her eccentric yet beautiful appearance.

When he got within earshot, he heard her quiet greeting, and smiled softly, making his way closer towards her. When he finally reached her, he bowed his head slightly in greeting.

"Hello. My name is Shen. I hope I'm not bothering you."

She watched as the stallion came closer. He was even more stunning up close. She continued to smile and made her way to her feet to greet him properly. She shook quickly, grass and dirt falling from her colored coat.

"Hello, Shen," she bowed her head in return. Once raised again, she continued, "I'm Misaki, and no, you are not a bother."

Her voice was soft and her eyes were intent on his adornments. "You've glorious designs and jewelry, Sir." She had learned to appreciate the details in life. "Your coat is lovely." she always found it proper to be polite and name positive things about the soquili she met. "You seem to enjoy the day as much as I." she laughed again softly.

Shen smiled at the welcoming greeting. It seemed that she was as interested in his appearance as he was in hers. He bowed his head again in polite acknowledgment of the compliments.

"Thank you. And there's no reason to call me sir."

He chuckled a bit. He had been slightly taken aback at the way she addressed him. Nobody had ever called him "sir" before.

"But I must say that my coat pails next to yours. It looks almost as if you have been painted. I have never seen anything like it before."

He allowed himself one last minute to look at her coat before finally meeting her eyes.

"Yes, it is quite a lovely day. I have managed to escape the company of my family for a while to come out and enjoy it."

"Appologies, then." She offered when he said there was no need in calling him 'Sir'.

Her facial expression showed just a bit of embarassment as he complimented her own colorful coat. She wasn't so use to being on the receiving end of niceties.

She laughed softly, "Escaped your family?" she nickered a bit, "Ironic. I'm on a journey searching for mine." she grinned up at the stallion, the breeze slightly tassling her mane a bit.

"Would you like to rest in the shade for a bit?" she motioned to the shaded ground with her head. There was plenty of room for another soquili to rest. "Have you been exploring long?"

Shen sighed when she mentioned his family.

"Yes, escaped. They can be...difficult at times. I understand that my mother didn't have anybody around to help her, but...I just don't think she was cut out for parenthood."

He didn't go any further into this. He was sure that she didn't want to hear of all his family problems. He still had yet to find his father. But he didn't lost hope. He hadn't been looking for very long.

When offered a space in the shade, he joined her, welcoming the relief from the high sun.

"I haven't been out long, but the sun is quite strong today. Why are you searching for your family? Did you lose them?"

She didn't inquire any further about his family, at least for now. Misaki felt that he would share if he felt prompted to later on.

She laughed at his question and watched him as he took his place in the comfort of the shade. "You could say that, I suppose." her ears flicking sporadically and the muscles under her coat flinching to shoo the insects from landing on her. "I've been away for many years, I've come home looking for my sister." she offered with a smile.

"Destiny will lead me to her one day, though it may not happen as quickly as I would hope." she shrugged a bit.

The wind blew gently causing the drapeing limps of the willow dancing gingerly around them.

The wind caused the golden thread on his hindquarters to rustle and jingle against each other. He tossed his head, moving his mane out of his face. He looked over to Misaki curiously.

"Destiny? Yes, I suppose..."

He had heard of destiny before, but had never really thought much upon it.

"Does that mean that you know for sure that you will find them...but it is mostly out of your control?"

He didn't feel embarrassed at asking this question. If you didn't ask questions, how were you supposed to learn anything?

She didn't mind the questions, in fact, she enjoyed conversations where she could help to share her knowledge and philosophies with others.

Her ears flickered quickly as some of the stallions adornments made a tinkering sound. She returned her attention back to Shen's face as she spoke though.

She laughed softly, "I'm afraid, I'm not sure of anything." she shrugged a bit, "The only thing I'm sure of is, one day, I will die." She didn't seem depressed or sullen on the fact. She stated in a 'matter of the fact' type of way. "I believe that fate has brought be home for some reason....I believe it's my sister, but, it could be something else intirely."

She rested there, silent for a moment. "Do you believe you have a destiny?"

He thought on her words for a moment. It seemed that she felt that things were pretty much out of her control. Shen admittedly felt that way at times, too, but he wasn't sure that he felt he had a destiny.

"Well, I suppose I could have a destiny that I don't know about yet. But at the present moment, I don't feel any strong inclination towards anything. I pretty much just wander around. Now that I am grown and no longer visit my mother all the time, I find I enjoy my freedom and just take advantage of it and enjoy myself. I let my feet take me where they want to go."

He knew it might sound a little strange, but it was actually very true. Shen rarely had a destination in mind when he set off on his wanderings. Like he said, his feet just took him places, and he was often surprised at where he ended up.

She actually understood quite well what he meant. When Misaki had taken to travel when she was young, she had no real idea in mind. She just wandered where her hooves lead her to go. She ended up in the east and fell in love, staying there for many years. Apparently, it ran in the family as her sister, little known to Misaki, had traveled the lands for many years as well until she met her mate.

"Freedom is a wonderful privelage," she bobbed her head slightly. "I couldnt' imagine being the type that had to be tied down to an area. I have to be able to 'spread my wings' as they say." She sat there thoughtfully for a moment longer.

"Might I ask," she couldn't help herself, she tried not to be nosey but sometimes it just didn't work, "If it's not too personal, why don't you visit your mother?" her head tilted a bit. She would understand if he declined to answer.

He smiled a bit, looking down at the ground, his eyes fixed on nothing in particular.

"I have been thinking about it lately. I believe that I am almost ready to go and see her. I think I needed some time to be away from her first. But now that I've been on my own for a while, and I have learned, I think it may be time to visit her."

He sighed, returning his eyes to Misaki's. He also wished to see his brother, but he left him out of the conversation for the time being. And then, of course, there was his missing father. That had been part of his reason for going out on his own. He hoped to one day find his father and learn more about him. Also, he thought he might ask him why he was never around to help them, but maybe that would come later.

She was glad that he hadn't taken offense to her prying question. She listened intently to him as he spoke.

"Sometimes, time and space are the best answer to problems." She said quietly. "I'm sure she'd be happy to see you though."

Misaki didn't remember much of her parents, the only family she had memories of was her sister. She hated that they had wandered so far in opposite directions of the earth.

"You've been on a self-exploration then, I take?" her head tilted. She guessed that would be what she had been on as well. She never intended to be gone for so long, she didnt' think it would be years before she felt drawn back to her home grounds.
