Nereus lazily stretched and stood up. He looked at the trees that towered above him. Must've fallen asleep out here, he thought. He began to stroll through the woods, half searching for a way out, when he saw a small squirrel.
He hated to admit to the squirrel that he might possibly be lost, but he knew he needed help. If only he could remember how to say what he wanted to say. He sighed as he carefully made his way over to the squirrel. He wiggled his nose, trying to show that he was friendly.

Iwona had been playing tag with one of her squirrel friends when it stopped and looked to it's left. She looked where it did and saw one of her new friends, Nereus, attempting to speak with another squirrel. She began to walk over to him, darting from bush to bush to mak tings interesting.

Nereus waited for the squirrel to respond, but found that he had no idea what it was telling him. He sighed and tried his best to remember what Iwona had shown him. Learning squirrel had proven to be a more difficult task than he had planned. If only Iwona could have been there now to help him out. Nereus shook his head,, disappointed with himself.

Iwona crouched low behind the bush to Nereus' back. 'I'm a friend, go to the tree on your left or you might be hurt,' she told the squirrel and smiley slyly as it did so. Ok, everything is set, just 3...2...1... And she pounced on him from the back, saying, "Hiya Nereus!"

Nereus stared at the squirrel as it moved away, wondering if he had said something to offend it. Then suddenly something hit him fom behind, knocking him to the ground. "Oof!" he let out as his front legs gave out beneath him and he collapsed. He was about to attack whatever it was, but stopped himself when he realized he recognized the voice. He turned his head around to look at her as best he could. "Iwona!" he exclaimed happily.

"Yes, it is I!" she jokingly replied before rolling off of him and onto the soft ground. "What're you doing out here?" she asked as she sat up and as the squirrel she had been playing with climbed up her back and sat in the center of her forehead.

"I..." he scratched his head, trying to remember what had been doing. "I woke up here," he shrugged. Noticing her friend, Nereus smiled and pointed to the squirrel atop her head. "Who's that?"

She looked up on her forehead to see the little squirrel getting comfortable up there. "I don't think he has a name, he's just a friend I was playing with when he noticed you." She smirked as she looked back at Nereus. "He said you were saying some weird things."

Nereus looked from Iwona to the squirrel and back again. "What did I say?" He looked to the side and twitched his ears nervously. "I hope I didn't say anything offensive."

"One sec" She looked up at the squirrel perched on her head, and wiggled her nose, asking what he had said. The squirrel seemed to laugh as he wiggled his back in response, the answer making Iwona giggle uncontrollably.

Nereus frowned as he watched the two. "What's so funny?" he asked as he sat on his hind legs and folded his front arms. His eyes narrowed as he looked at Iwona for an answer.

Iwona laughed for a few minutes before being able to control herself. "H-he said that... you were calling all of namrah's ears a clever disguise for banana dwarfs..." she began laughing again as she finished.

Nereus stared blankly at them both. His face was emotionless and stolid. Then suddenly and without warning, he burst into laughter. "I .. said... that?!" he got out between laughing and snorting.

Iwona couldn't help but laugh with him at that moment. It would have nearly killed her not to. She nodded her head as she laughed, unable to say "yes" or "no" at that moment.

Nereus crounched down, trying to brance himself as he continued laughing. He felt a strange desire to roll around on the gruond; as so he did so. He rolled back and forth, holding his belly as it was starting to hurt from laughing too hard.
