[[This RP is a short 'one shot' story directed at moving certain characters into position for the continuation of a plot for one of my soquili. Due to constraints (i.e. my teepee being under use currently) these RPs have been split into individual threads for my use alone.
Please do not post in these threads.]]

She'd followed him for weeks now, she had sprinted across plains and deserts to ensure that she kept them in her sights. They flew high and they flew fast but ultimately they had been forced to rest during the evenings. It had been through sheer will power and determination that the feline had managed to pursue them into the Kawani lands and it had been through luck that she had been able to track them for so long. It had been during this time that she had watched, listened and learned.
She had always been good at observing creatures, whether they be two leggers or animals. It was this skill that made her such a great predator and also enabled her to be so terribly quick to pick up on trends. Ah yes, she had watched for weeks as the feathered beast had exploited the creature that most would have called a demon. As the 'demon' had struggled against this 'angel' she had witnessed every little thing. From the shrieks of pain that were emitted from the lips of the demon to the cruel laughter of the angel...but this wasn't what she deemed important.
You see, in these weeks she had come to realise that the pair had a very unique connection. A bond that went beyond blood, it was almost as though they had the same heart for each carried and orb around their neck and both orbs reacted to the other accordingly. These spheres appeared to converse regularly with one asserting it's dominance over the other. Perhaps it was through age but the 'angel' always won - she wasn't entirely certain of how these spheres operated but since her discovery she had always wanted to test a theory.
Had it not been for the actions of the 'angel' she would have never had her chance. However, he had forced the demon to attack and provided her with the opening - now the heart was hers. The orb clasped firmly in her jaw she continued to dart across the plains. It was at times like these that she thanked the northern regions for having such long grasses. Despite her red colour she could weave in and out of the grasses without attracting that much attention. Occasionally a soquili would raise their head but otherwise...
So far, the 'angel' had made no attempts to pursue her even though his toy had colapse the instant she had taken the heart from his chest. It had been her belief that if she were to 'cut' the link between the pair then perhaps the angel would no longer be capable of making the demon scream. She had never experienced such a complex set of circumstances but she had her morals and simply couldn't permit it to continue. Even if the 'demon' died, it would be better for him to perish now than suffer for an eternity.
He wasn't a bad soquili, she had seen this.
But he was being made to do unpleasant things...
Run...
"I came from the slopes..."
Her gaze turned towards the towering slopes, partially shrouded in mist they seemed ridiculously steep. However, after much consideration she had long since come to the conclusion that the lowlands couldn't provide a place to hide for long - there were simply too many eyes. She came from a world where trust did not exist, where it was kill or be killed by the predators within the jungle and so...where better to hide than in thick mist where vision became impossible?
Heaving a sigh, she grit her teeth more firmly on the orb and bounded into the trees. Luckily, the foliage and the canopy would provide her with further cover. Provided she remained out of sight she could continue largely unhindered and tracking her would remain difficult. Unfortunately, it was more a matter of strength and endurance from this point forward. She could walk for miles on flat land but to request that she rock climb...well that was another matter entirely.
Was he screaming now?
Bracing herself, she pushed onwards and continued up the slopes towards her destination - the mist shrouded pinnacle.

Did it hurt?
No, oddly it didn't. He could no longer feel the searing pain in his chest but he no longer felt the warm pulse either. If he was honest then he would have to say he felt absolutely nothing, he was empty as he lay on the forest floor. Completely immobile, he still remained uncertain and in shock following the abrupt change in events - he had been the very last individual to ever think that the feline would trek this far and perform such a feat. Had she known all along?
He thrust his nose against the undergrowth, craving the gentle caress of something simply to comfort himself in his 'darkest' hour. The heart he had possessed since he was a child had been taken from him and in return he had been left cold, empty and completely immobile. This was purely mental of course, the shock of such a sudden change in circumstances had made him lose many of his senses and the 'heart' he had born had undoutably provided him with the strength that 'mutants' and corrupted beings such as he were renowned for. However, in losing this heart he also felt a sense of freedom for the beast that had selected him as his toy had fallen silent.
...The weight on his shoulders was gone.
It appeared that the mare had fled when Sui had attacked and frankly he was glad. At last he was able to lie down and rest, he was able to close his eyes and savour the rare moment when he was not being watched like a hawked. There were no bitter threats, no searing pain...just silence and he absolutely loved it. He could have lay here all day and waited for his legs to recover but as fate would have it, there was just one thing that stood in his way.
His eyes snapped open abruptly as he recalled the threat made by his 'father'. Heaving himself into a position where he could lift his head, he turned his gaze in the direction his 'father' had been hiding and growled lightly. So his father couldn't control him through his physical form anymore but the emotional tie still remained. Given Kiyoshi's current track record he was fairly certain that his father would exact that threat too.
Oh hell, why in the name of the gods had he permitted himself to fall so far?
"How does it feel to lose a heart?" Ah, there he was. The great beast sauntered towards him and while his eyes appeared unsettled his form seemed completely unharmed. The loss of his son's heart had been a surprise but it was not something that this particular stallion couldn't handle. After all, without his heart his son lacked the strength to subdue him, thus he still held his little crush over his head. Bella - was that her name?
Nevertheless, what Kiyoshi had failed to remember was that with the passing of the heart and the breaking of such a fragile bond that he could no longer anticipate his son's moves. While Azumoth had followed his like a puppy while he could be watched completely this did not mean that this hold remained. Azumoth's mind was empty save for his own thoughts and that weight was gone - he could think freely and his father would remain completely unaware.
"Weak," he uttered uncomfortably, keeping his gaze focused on his father. He had to focus, had to make sure what he said was timed perfectly to prevent him from arousing suspicion.
"You failed."
"I hardly expected to have a thief claim what is rightfully mine," Azumoth narrowed his eyes before snorting and shaking his head. Really, he had always craved to know how a normal soquili felt. He had never wanted his strength but now, as he lost it the weight of his wings became more apparent and he was just a little uncomfortable. "But you must understand that I can do nothing without it."
"Then what would you have me do, hm?"
"Give me yours."

It was a question that few would dare ask and it was a question that even fewer would consider. However, without the ability to completely read his son and with his own short comings, Kiyoshi had already come to the conclusion that his son lack the ability to grasp how such a peculiar sphere or 'heart' operated. Thus, it would be safe to allow this 'heart' to sustain him until such a time as Kiyoshi retrieved his subordinate's heart from the thief and returned it.
Right?
For a long time Kiyoshi simply stared at his son...the sorry excuse for a male who had done nothing more than hide within a forest for years. If Kiyoshi had, had his way then the herd that had 'tortured' him would no longer exist but instead this disappointment had run. He hadn't even redeemed himself by returning to destroy them either so therefore he lacked intelligence. He was pitiful, a wreck and as a result it was fundamentally impossible for him to grasp the true weight of what he possessed.
"Very well, you can use it." A cruel smile developed on his father's lips and after a few moments he approached, lowering his head to slip the necklace over Azumoth's head. It slid across his horns before sliding down to his chest. It came as no surprise to either as it aligned itself in the 'slot' that had contained the previous sphere. Admitting a rather bright pulse it soon began to fill the demonic son with warmth and he was once again able to rise to his feet.
However, it was undeniable that he did not have the same connection with this orb as his previous for it did not pulse in line with his emotions, it continued to respond to his father's. Nevertheless, it did provide him with the strength he required to continue. At the very least this way he couldn't 'fail' and risk placing his mare in danger - yes his mare and no one elses. This way he could continue until such a time as he solved the mystery of his heart and then rebel against the 'angel' that chose to toy with him.
"I suggest we move," completely unphased by the lack of a 'heart' around his neck, his father pushed passed the stallion and began to move in the direction that the feline had fled. He would retrieve that heart and enact his plans - he would kill that damn cat if he had to as well.
Unfortunately for Kiyoshi, he was completely unaware of the threat that loomed behind him. Glowering as he trailed after his father, Azumoth had already sworn that he would find a way to gain control of his father's 'heart' and in doing so he would be able to ensure the safety of those he cared for...how he would do this remained a mystery even to him but without his father in his head, plotting and musing became significantly easier...
