Name's zeejay but please call me by z.j.. I'm still a newbie on GAIA (5 days) but not on online forums.
I joined this guild because of two word: manga and games. So I thought, "Hey, this looks cool" So, I came and found out that this guild is dying?! Well, I'm not gonna stand around and do nothin'. I already put up several posts with helpful tips. I think it's in Matter of Life or Dead thread.
Also, I happen to be a founder of a club at one forum. It was dying but ever since I created the club and while I was there, the forum was buzzing with active members (no kidding).
The club is called The Annoying Group Club. Link here:
http://www.squareforums.com/showthread.php?t=88441&page=56How does this help the guild? Look at the posts made there. It was made from 5-26-2007 - a whole year! Yes, while it went paused for several months but I was surprised it was still there after I came back from a hiatus (because of internet connections). Usually a thread that's inactive for several months will be deleted. This one stands!
If you read the posts there, it maybe random but it was brimming with activity. Members feel like they got involved. They got special avys and sigs and sometimes ranks. I also personally give some gifts to those who are active through e-mail.
This July, I'm making a comeback there and start a project to save the forum. What's does this have to do with G.A.M.M., you say? Basically, I wanna inspire y'all how to stand for a year.
The A.G. Club's success that outdone every thread club ever created there (in a sub-forum for spammers) should be an example.
The guild's just've been created 2 months ago right? Here are the points to be long running and successful:
1) Advertise in a very unique way -
You guys got broadband, right? Well, try to advertise this guild at free social sites like MySpace (along with that, you'll advertise GaiaOnline as well), use videos in YouTube, talk with your friends, tell 'em all about it.
2) More features -
What do the guild offers what the others can't? Try to do features that outdo the others
3) Constant communication -
Once you got members, talk to them. Don't make 'em stay like that. PM them. MSN them. Be friends and strengthen your friendships. You might just be surprised who will be on the other side of the screen. It might be a successful person!
4) Be respected -
Respect others and you'll be respected. This can keep not only guild but you from falling off on the wrong foot.Trust me, this can really help in order to survive. How do I know all this? In real life, I'm a business apprentice for my family's business so I was trained with strict discipline rules and experiences.
So, that's from me. A guild member who wanted to help.
PEACE and ROCK! m/
