Blacklight skilfully navigated the air currents, with her dark young son trailing awkwardly behind her. He was still getting used to his pinions, poor thing, and he often misjudged the angles he needed to take with his wings. She and Swift Wind had been forced to fish him out oof a tall oak just the other day.
Had Blacklight ever been that awkward? It was very hard to remember! She'd thought she was so young, before she got pregnant, but now the world was a very different place than it had been just a few months ago. The mare loved her sons dearly, but privately, she was very much at a loss. Blacklight didn't know how to be a good mother, and-
And she didn't want to ask advice from her own. Sa'ida was a great psychic. If she saw evil in Bright Dusk and Zephyrus' futures, then Blacklight could not bear to know it. She could only hope her grandmother would be able to help.
"Hello! Oh, hello! Is anyone here?" Black called, as she pulled into a landing. Her father had told her that Allariana could be found in this small, flowery glade. Bright Dusk's landing was far less smooth than his mother's, and involved a great deal of flailing his wings and tripping over his own hooves. He was secretly very relieved that Swift Wind was not there to see him stumble. To his mind, his father was the greatest and best stallion in the whole world.
"Oh, wow, Mom! Look! Dandelions!"
Grass was so boring. Bright loved wildflowers, and other, more exotic foods. Before he'd been sulky about not getting to go to the lake with his father and brother, but suddenly, this day was looking up.
He trotted over to a large shock of flowers, only to feel his mother's prehensile tail thwap him on the side of his leg.
"Bright! Sweetie, don't eat those! Your great-grandmother can become very small! You might accidentally eat her right up!"
Oh. Ew.

Glancing about, Allariana wandered about the small clearing and glanced at the flowers happily. She couldn't help but admire how beautiful the world was especially during the spring and summer. The petite mare hadn't seen her entire family in awhile and was wondering how they were doing. She could only hope that they were doing well and she was curious to know if she had more grandchildren or not. Allariana moved with a certain elegance that only an older soquili could have. She continued to flutter about the meadow looking around. She had never met Boo's children so she didn't realize that Blacklight was actually family but Allariana knew there was something familiar about the dark shape in the distance.
She watched the two figures land in the distance and she began to walk towards the two. Smiling happily, Allariana observed the two as she came closer. Why did they look so familiar? "Hello there!" Considerably smaller then the other two, Allariana was never fazed by her petite size and did not show fear; she was much too friendly.

"Ah, good day!" Blacklight beamed at the incoming flutter. She wasn't sure if the older mare was the one she was looking for, but she was pleased that they had at least found a local! Taking off during a red dawn had really paid off.
"Can you help us? I'm-"
Blacklight was interrupted when a foal-shaped bundle of energy darted out in front of her, all bristling with feathers and enthusiasm. Dad had told his boys that they learn how to talk to girls, in order to do their old man proud. Bright was determined to start right away!!
"Good day, elegant madame. You're prettier than all the flowers here. " He beamed up at the small mare. His wings flared out for balance, and he nodded in an equine sort of half-bow. "It's a pleasure to meet you! I'm Bright Dusk."
He cast a quick look behind his shoulder.
"That's my Mom."
Bright was still at the age where it did not occur to him that his Mom had any other name.
Blacklight valiantly suppressed a small sigh, and smiled wryly back at her darling boy. Bright could not possibly know how far his little lines were from mimicking his father's flirtatious quips and easy, charming banter.

Smiling softly at the two, Allariana loved meeting new soquili. She tossed her mane to shake away the flies and then started giggling when the little foal interrupted his mother. "Wow, you flatter me way too much little one. It's quite the pleasure to meet you Bright Dusk. What is your mother's name or would you prefer me to call her mother?" Grinning happily, Allariana was pleasantly surprised and amused by the colt.
She didn't know any of her grandchildren's names but she did know they existed but it wouldn't have occurred to her that these two were related. Allariana missed children though... She herself only had 3 and some of her kids had even more then she did. Allariana looked at Blacklight, "Did you need some help with something?"

Bright huffed and stomped his hooves. He wasn't a little baby! He could fly all the way up to the top of a tree on his own!!
"My name is Blacklight. It's very nice to meet you!" Blacklight covered for her son. He wasn't very good at being gallant yet. Foals were always in such a hurry to grow up.
"My father sent me here to find someone. But, mmm... I thought today was a lucky day, but I could have counted wrong... er, are you the only one who lives here?"
Blacklight had heard stories about her grandmother, but- but surely this wasn't her! They looked so little alike! The thought didn't even cross Black's mind.

Giggling, Allariana loved little children so much and it showed. "It's quite a pleasure to meet you too Blacklight." She smiled once more; it still hadn't hit her that this soquili looked a lot like her son, Boo. It's not everyday that she met another one of her family members. "Your father? Who might your father be?" She nodded softly, "I live here alone but sometimes my mate comes by. But yes, I'm the only one that really inhabits this area."

Blacklight watched her son with a look of wry amusement. He had decided to have a brief sulk over the way his age sabotaged his attempts to be noble, and had trotted over to a patch of wild-flowers, to engage it in a ferocious battle of wills.
"Oh, my father's name is Boo." Black said, with a flick of her tail. "I'm sorry! I was looking for my grandmother, but she must have moved on from this place. I've never met her, you know."
The mare's face took on a thoughtful look.
"If only I'd had one of those two-leggers make me a divining rod... do those only work with water? Oh dear, oh dear."

Tilting her head curiously, Allariana's ears twitched as she recognized the name. Boo. "Oh, I had no idea." She began to giggle wildly as she thought about it. Wow! She was related to Blacklight and Bright Dusk! "Actually, I'm pretty sure you've come to the right place. Boo is my son." She couldn't help but giggle happily. Her family had grown so much! And they were all so beautiful. She couldn't help but beam with pride. "I guess I'm the grandmother you're looking for then." The coincidence was so ironic. "Well then, that changes things. I'm so happy to be meeting my granddaughter and great grandson." She was... getting old...

"Wh-what!?" Blacklight stepped back, her wings snapping out with surprise>
That? That was her grandmother? But she didn't look old at all! And she was so light-colored! Blacklight was shocked, and now that she thought of it, she supposed she was a little nervous as well. Oh dear oh dear! She should have bathed in her lucky spring before arriving.
"Really? Oh! Um- hello! It's very nice to meet you!"
Unlike his mother, Bright retained his composure at the revelation that the giggling flutter was related to him. The colt tore some lilies out of the ground with his moth, carried them over, and dropped them at the older mare's feet.
"I would have brought flowers from home," he announced with a flourish. "But Mom didn't think it would be good to carry the that long."
Bright seemed very pleased with his noble gesture.

Laughing happily, Allariana was having a wonderful day and she was so happy that Blacklight and Bright Dusk had found her. "I guess it does seem a little strange that we're related." She observed the other two and while Allariana was sitting on the lighter side of the spectrum, Blacklight and Bright Dusk were on the complete opposite side. "It is very nice to meet you too." The flutter couldn't help but feel so ecstatic and lucky. It took a lot to make Allariana nervous and in general, she was a very happy and cheerful soquili.
Her eyes softened as Bright dropped flowers at her hooves. "Oh my. Thank you so much." She was definitely surprised that this little one had such great manners. Her size basically matched the foal and she nuzzled him softly. She couldn't help it. Her nature was to always be compassionate and loving. Allariana turned her attention to Blacklight once more, "So why are you seeking me out, of all soquili?"

"Er... well... do we really need a reason to seek out family?"
Black had never been a very good liar. Her nervousness showed in the lashing of her tail.
"Bright, sweetie, why don't you go practice your take-offs?" She nudged her colt with the tip of one wing. "We won't get home very easily if you need to find a hill to take to the air."
"Awww, Mom."
Why did she have to say these embarrassing things about him in front of other people!??
"Fine. Okay. Whatever."
The foal trotted off to do as he was told, his broad smile doing little to disguise the twitch of annoyance in his features.

Smiling softly, Allariana was very in tune with those around her and understood body language and such very well. "Really now?" She wasn't mad though. Allariana was an incredibly understanding soquili and she really loved everybody. She never held any grudges and wanted to be able to help those around her. Nodding at Bright, she sensed that there was something more to her just wanting to 'seek out family'. "Have fun and be careful Bright." Again, Allariana continued to smile at the young colt. Did she ever stop smiling?

Blacklight watched her son leave and tried not to feel anxious about him flying on his own. Before her foals, she'd lived an easy, carefree life. Now it felt like she could fret her whole life away. When had Blacklight gotten so old?
"Have you met my mother?" She asked Allarianna. "Mom has a great gift! She can hear the intentions of the spirits. They whisper the secrets of the future to her."
((note: Sa'ida cannot really see the future. She's a total fake. But her daughter believes in her without question. XP))

Allariana knew that time was creeping up on her and eventually her body would feel the physical effects of it. But she never worried about it, what happened, happens. That was one of the reasons she was able to stay youthful for so long. Her mother... Boo's mate was Sa'ida. Allariana was almost surprised that she remembered. "I don't think I've been able to meet her before but maybe I should make a point to do that." Giggling softly, Allariana really did need to meet the rest of her family. "Really? She can see into the future? What an amazing gift."

"It is!" Blacklight agreed, all bright eyes and uforced enthusiasm. So many Soquili scoffed at her mother. But Black took pride in coming from an amazing bloodline! "Shes very powerful! And she always knows just what to say! Only-"
She gazed at Bright chasing butterflies in the distance.
"If I go see her, she'll speak his future. I don't want to hear that. It's- what if it's something bad?"
Black turned to her long-lost grandmother. It was strange to talk to another Soquili who was so small. She caught herself bending her head when she wasn't thinking.
"H- he was an accident, you see." The mare said quietly. "I don't know what to do."
What if he turned out all wrong? Luck couldn't carry her through this one. It had run out the moment she'd woken up to the kicking in her belly.
