I just got my very first job at 16 years old. I'm working at Sobey's in the Floral department. Every Sunday and Monday from 9-2pm, I get payed $8.50 an hour.
I went in on Saturday for my training, and it went pretty well. And then Sunday and Monday I was on my own and even those days went pretty well. I'm going to work on Wednesday for another day or extra training.
I am just excited about my first job and still nervous about it. So far I've done well, but I am still a bit worried I might screw up some how.

Congratulations! I think it'll keep going well! Jobs get easier the longer you're there and the less you'll think about messing up. You'll do fine. And congrats again. ^_^

My first job was a Janitor place at our Chamber of Commerce. I was payed normal wage and had no taxes deducted, didn't work there for long, but made about 600 to 700 dollars, that was when I was 15. I'm currently looking for my third job and I'm almost 17, but the crappy economy is making this rural area a no job zone almost.

Love is like a fire...
Congrats! My first job was a Burger King. I hated it, so I quit. [Lame a**. D: ] That's pretty good pay for a first job, though. It seems like you like the job, so if you stay relaxed and positive, you'll be fine. But, you're new so mistakes will be made anyway. You'll be fine. <3 ...deep burning and unquenchable...

Thanks ^_^ I'd never want to work at a fast food restaurant xp I get payed only $0.10 above minimum wage. But where I live $8.40 is a good minimum wage... it seems that in the U.S minimum wage is a lot lower 3nodding

Congratulations! biggrin
My first ever job was... waitressing I believe, for this waitress that ripped us all off and broke a whole bunch of labor laws. sweatdrop It's also the only place I've worked where I was paid the $6/hr training wage.
Canadiam minimum wage (all across the country) is $8.00, but a lot of people are lobbying it for it to be raised to $10, since the cost of living is rising too. We have a training wage as well (for the first 500 hours of paid work), $6/hr, but most employers don't use it because it's too cheap and generally seen as a sign you don't care too much about our employees.

My Mom was a waitress once before... I'd actually hate to have a job like that... but only because it involves talking to people directly all day. And I'm shy and hate talking to people emo
There are some provinces where minimum wage is just under $8.00. But I do know the cost of living is going up... the government makes it harder and harder to even keep your kids in school!! It costs over $800 just to go to high school each year. For a regular public school too. The $800 is more like a deposit... and you do get it back. But the hardest part is coming up with that $800 to begin with.

My very first job was packing donuts at a donut factory in a rural area. I hated it, but my dad said it was a good experience. I can understand why he said everyone needs to see firsthand how an assembly line works. Sometimes I couldn't keep up with the line and had to ask for help. sweatdrop

My job has been going fantastically well. I've only had one klutz moment. I spilled a bucket of water with flowers in it sweatdrop Another employee was right across from me and just kept looking over like he was making sure I was going to mop up my mess loll. So I went off in search for a mop and bucket, I found one. Cleaned up my mess and then put the "Caution Wet Floor" sign there and it was all good lol
