Lonely. That was how Konya had felt recently. She hadn't seen her sibilings for a while. Had they left? SHe didn't know. All she did know was that things changed as you grew up. Her only real friend had left with his family long ago, and she had no idea where he had gone. Growing up had given her a bit of sense, not the dense, naive little cub that she once was. She'd never find him out there in the big world. She would be much safer here, with her mother. The only family member that she knew was still around.
"Mother?" she called out, returning to their den that she had lived in her whole life. She didn't think to move out, or else her own mother would be completely alone. Konya had let herself assume that her sisters were out discovering themselves, and that made her happy for them. That was something they wanted, and she just wanted to stay here. Hopefully.
"Mother, are you in here? I want to talk to you, if that's all right..." It was odd, hearing the echoing off of the empty walls. She heard a rustling, which proved that her mother was here, at least.

Latifu had been taking quite a nice nap, but the concerned voice of her daughter had shaken her from her dreams. She rustled around, getting her mind more awake before returning her call. It wouldn't do any good to make her daughter feel bad that she had woken her mother up from a nap. Nor would Latifu be a good mother if she spoke to her daughter with slurred, sleepy speech.
"Konya? What's wrong?" she asked softly in reply. She kept out the 'again, today' part. Lately Konya had been something of a mess, and it didn't seem like it was going to get better soon. Her teal tail twitched as she motioned her daughter to come lay next to her, hoping that the light would sink into the cave and make it a much lighter environment.
"What do you need to speak about, my dear child?" It still almost felt odd having children, especially so when she only saw one frequently, but it was....amazing. She nuzzled her daughter behind the ear as she settled herself next to her. Konya having such a similar coat as her father made it difficult to see her at times, since Latifu hadn't seen Bakari in quite a long time, and it made her feel lonely again.

"Yes, well...." She didn't know how to start. Instead, she took the time to curl up next to her mother, letting her warm body give the young lioness a bit of hope. Maybe not everything was lost. Life was just being difficult right now, but as long as she still had someone to depend on she would be all right. Mother told her of stories of how she grew up all alone. Konya had her mother, so life had to be at least a bit easier. If only for someone to curl up next to in the dead of night, an ear to listen to everything, a kind smile.
"Ummm..." C'mon, she had to get the ball rolling somewhere. THe first subject that bothered her? "Have you seen Father lately?" She flexed her cream coloured toes as her light green eyes glanced down to analyze them. It was probably going to be a hard question for her mother to answer, but it was important. She hadn't seen him in quite some time. Did he go away somewhere? If he did, Konya only hoped that he would return soon.

Latifu blinked, the question being something unexpected. Bakari? Even she had no idea where he had gone to. True, she had been too nervous to ask his mother, but he was an adult, and capable of taking care of himself. There must have been something that he needed to do. His family had been through enough trouble in the past, perhaps there was something that he was having to do.
Or was she merely just convincing herself of that?
"Konya...I'm going to tell you that I don't know. Because I haven't any idea where he has gone." SHe nuzzled her daughter's head after she spoke, hoping to give her a little bit of confidence on the idea. "Perhaps he's even watching over one of your sisters." Another good possibility. "Are you worried about him, dear?"

"So he's...gone?" Her tail swished on the ground, slowly curling around her mother's once she had bumped into it. It seemed scary that he was gone, but the idea that he'd come back was a good one. She'd just have to learn to live with it and just wait for his return.
"I guess he's doing something neat...I hope so. Maybe he'll come back with all sorts of stories about the outside world!" Konya had only showed interest in leaving once, after a certain boy, but it soon died within her heart. She'd never find him, why try?
"So we should probably just keep ourselves busy until he comes back, right? I'm sure he wouldn't be happy if we just sad around and waited for him." She pawed at the ground, letting her light green eyes wander away from her mother.

"He'll be back soon." She wished she knew when. If he didn't come back, Latifu didn't know what she would do. And with her children grown, she didn't feel a sense of need in her life to keep her going. Her mind wandered to possibilities of fixing this, but she would worry about it once she truely felt lonely. For the moment, she did have Konya.
"Now that I'm thinking about it, have you seen your sisters lately?" She had a hunch that Alake had left, as there was someone she was probably chasing after. It reminded Latifu of herself when she was young, and she could only wish the best for her daughter. Even if she never saw her again, she would keep it in her heart that she would be happy.
"I haven't heard from them for a while, and I am just wondering if you've heard where they have gone to. It wouldn't surprise me if they left, seeing the outside world." Some hearts just can't be contained in the save home of the pride.

Konya's ears swiveled backwards. She knew where Alake went, but not her other sisters. What would she tell her mother? She paused, letting her mind toss around the possibilities. The truth was always the best, but she also didn't want her mother to feel like she had been abandoned. Konya had no plans to leave, but she knew better than to promise as such. The future held endless possibilities.
"Alake left to go be with someone," Konya said with a bit of pain. She didn't go after Bandele....she had been a child then, and a stupid one at that. He didn't even like her, so when she had grown, her mind had as well. "I'm not sure about Noelani and Nthanda, I haven't seen them in a long time. Maybe they left with Father?" That was always a logical explination. And it meant that they would be safe as long as they were with him.
Her light green eyes drifted back down to her paws, letting them flex as she thought about it. Home seemed quiet now, there was little activity and even less others to play with. Konya was old enough to not play anymore, but she still missed it. It was boring, walking around day in and day out with little more than a friendly conversation with a pride member that didn't go too much further than how the day was. She wanted something exciting, to keep a smile on her face and look forward to the next day with joy.

"Ah, so my hunch with her was correct." Latifu laughed lightly to herself. That girl was something that she wouldn't have expected from a child of hers, but fate seemed to have fun tossing weird things at the ones who least expected it. As long as she was happy, then Latifu would do her best to not worry about it. "And I hope that's the case with the other two, or at the very least the both of them are together now. Life goes on much easier if you're not alone."
Latifu's dark blue eyes glanced over to her daughter, noticing that she seemed quite upset about something. The idea of asking seemed too invasive, and the teal lioness let the silence grow between the two of them. Resting her head on her paws, she closed her eyes, assuming that the conversation had ended. A nap sounded quite lovely at this time, espeically as there was nothing else to do. They did not need to eat anything, and there was always so much water around them that thirst was never a concern. With the way that the air seemed to hang low, perhaps a storm would fly through their deep valley soon, and they would need to spend their time in the cave to keep dry.
It took Latifu a few moments to realise that her daughter had asked her a question. Dragging herself from her lazy thoughts, Latifu nudged her daughter with her nose. "What was that you said, Konya?"

Konya giggled slightly, realizing that her mother didn't hear her. Obviously she herself was thinking about what to do to liven things up around here! She paused for another moment, letting her giggles calm down.
"Well, I was asking you how you might feel about something." She timidly clawed at the ground, nervous to ask the question again. It seemed odd, almost foolish, but if it would make things better, then she would do it.
"How....would it be silly to...oh, I can't ask." She felt her face flush up, and she instantly buried it between her paws. She didn't know how to ask, but obviously it wasn't going to come out today.

Latifu leaned over to give her daughter a bit of grooming on her forehead. It was a comforting gesture, one that she could remember from when she was a cub, before she had lost her own parents. She felt her daughter relax under that, and drew backwards.
"Whatever it is, do not worry about it. You're my daughter, and I'll still love you no matter what you do." She let her tail flop over onto her daughter's. "Even if it may be foolish, as long as you keep your head held high then there will be nothing to worry about. There are worse things that have been done, or even thought about. Just make sure that you know I love you."
And with that, Latifu settled her head back onto her paws. "Perhaps it's time for a bit of a nap, and we can talk later. How does that sound?"

The grooming was mildly embarassing, but with no one else around she let it go. It helped her calm down a bit, and she shifted over to nestle up next to her mother. That comforting form that had always been there....it was amazing. She lowered her own head next to her paws, looking at her mother's face for a long moment.
"All right, Mother. I will remember that." She spoke softly, just in case her mother had fallen asleep already. It was an odd moment for Konya, as she realized that it was just the two of them now. They had probably been lying to one another about the rest of their family. They were surely alive, but that didn't mean that they would return. The mother-daughter pair would have to carry on their lives for one another, and not let the sadness overwhelm them. Only then would their family truely be gone.
