So my family has been in question of 'quitting meat'.
When I say that I mean becoming a sort of vegetarian.
Now we are not BIG kosher people, but I don't eat pork, and such.
So I was wondering is not eating meat Kosher?
If so tell me, if not tell me-
Whatever the case is ,I more than likely, will become a "no- meat- eater" But I am very curious about this question that popped into my head! Thank you!

To the best of my knowledge, there is no biblical prohibitions or requirements that you must consume animals outside of the Passover Seder.

Tiny correction: One need not ever eat animal flesh, except the Passover sacrifice once a year in the time of a standing Holy Temple. Since the Temple is not currently standing, we are unable to offer sacrifices, so we are not required to eat meat at all.

Thank you so much! So this means I won't have to eat meat, even on Passover?

Hmm thats a strange question...Why would it not be Kosher? I would think its MORE kosher because you don't have any conflict with the meat/dairy thing (even if you don't do it).

By the way you really don't seem like the kind of person that would be vegetarian.......well not really anyway...

(rubs eyes) pink on white... man my eyes hurt.

Anyrate, according to historic record. Jews of old followed the caveman diet. Which means 6 days of vegetation, nuts and fruit (fresh and dried) with the sabbath being to the only time they actually ate meat.

Now mind you, this was in no ways vegan, they still had lots of milk, eggs and yogurt.

But as for Kosher... to my knowledge there is no prohibiton of any kind that calls any kind of vegetable treif

Unless of course you decide throw bacon in your salad.

Yes, you're totally free from obligation to eat meat. If our Mashiach comes and the Temple is rebuilt, the obligation will fall upon us all to have a k'zayit ("like an olive," olive-sized) bite of meat once per year from the Passover sacrifice at the Temple. But until then, no worries. Just get your protein from vegetable sources -- brown rice, beans, peas, nuts.

Hey I never said that its a bad thing, I just thought that its not something you would do. But on the other hand today I thought of you 'Peace and Love and APPLES' wallet and yeah it is something you would do. And Im not going to start the vegetarian against non-vegetarian because that is a never ending battle that no one will ever win.
