Well at the moment i'm planning and started writing my own Doctor Who fanfic.
The only problem i have is the time of year to set it, because i want it based a certain time of year.
However, it got me thinking about how the Doctor Who episodes are based on a timeline in such. Is one series based over one year in general such as the first episode around January and the series finale near October-November time. Or is the whole series set in a smaller time period.

I'm slightly confused on this, yet i need this sorted so i can start writing the fanfic properly than keep writing the summary of the episode in note form. xd sweatdrop

Any ideas and opinions on this? sweatdrop

Present day Earth-based stories probably go in time with the series, so it ends in July I think. I wouldn't know XD Never really thought about it. They never say in the episode "Oh, it's June 23rd 2008" or anything.

One way to check is to see what natural events occur in the episode. For example, you can place Series Three's finale around about whenever the General Election is held (May time?)

Well i had this problem with timelines because i'm planning my first Doctor Who fanfic which is based after Runaway Bride and just before Smith and Jones. Does that mean my fic would be around January/Feb time or even March? xd sweatdrop

Smith and Jones, I'd put it at late winter/early spring. The weather in the episode isn't bad weather, but it isn't great. Not that that means anything XD
