Xi-Mei stepped off the boat, nodding respectfully to the boat master as she did so and looking about. Most of the vendors eyed her greedily-- she gave off the distinct air of having absolutely no idea what to do with herself past this point...and of being easily swayed.

The woman's fingers absently traced the arrows on her head, looking about. She supposed the first order of business would be finding somewhere to stay, but she wasn't sure where to look. She'd only ever left the temple on rare occasions when specifically asked to, and then the person asking usually took care of such things.

Hair floating in a breeze that existed only around her, the airbender moved into the market proper, looking about for anything that resembled an inn.

Chao-shi lazed about on the top of his cart. It was a small thing that he had rented, but it had a rather large dark red canopy that had caught his eye. The whole thing was supported underneath, and it really did lend an air of showmanship when he jumped or slid down. Plus, it was a good way to appraise the possible customers below him.

He noticed the Airbender almost immediately, due to the distinct tattoo's she bore. He thought she must have been a master then. "Good day, airbender!" He slid off the top of his cart, twisted and used his hands to propel him upwards. Catching around the middle with his legs, he hung upsidown and grinned at her. "What brings to the Earth Kingdom on this fine day?"

While Chao had never really traveled with a circus, it was pretty easy to pick up simple acrobatic tricks like that one with his previous company. Since it was a large assortment of people, he actually learned quite a bit, and it tended to be handy.

Xi-Mei blinked at the boy approaching her, clapping her hands together at his antics,
"Very good!" she cheered. He was obviously some sort of performer-- not that she'd ever seen a performer before really, but she'd heard about them from those who'd ventured outside of the Air Temples.

"I'm here to explore the world outside of the Air Temple," she smiled, "To see what good I can do in the world."

Ah, so she was a monk then. In Chaos opinion, they were one of a very small group that would actually answer like that. Not bad that she wanted to do good, but it certainly was an optimistic answer. Dropping down from the beams of the cart, the fortune teller landed in front of her and smiled. "That, is a very optimistic answer. If only more people shared your sentiment."

It probably wouldnt be too good of him to overcharge... or even charge the young girl. He normally didnt feel bad about taking others for their money, but something was different about her. She was fresh, and seemed sincere.

The woman smiled, nodding,
"I have heard that there's a lack of positive karma amongst some of the other nations," she said softly, "But, I'm sure most of the accounts were exaggerations. Airbenders do love to tell stories!"

She giggled, brushing strands of hair from her face. Xi-Mei looked around a bit,
"I don't suppose you know of a good place to stay around here?"

Chao sighed. This young woman was going to be majority taken advantage of if she kept the same views. "Lack of positive karma is one way to put it... but honestly, I'm sure its worse than what you think it is."

As far as housing, well, that was something the boy knew very well. He'd had to stay in several different places this time around and there were some good ones. "There are several good places I know of, but they would all depend on how much money you had." Not many places gave out free room and board, not even to a monk-ess. If she didnt have anything, he might be able to work out a 'work for room' type of deal that he'd done before.

Xi-Mei smiled,
"Oh, don't worry about money, that's not really an object," her occupation as a veterinarian as well as a monk had seen to that-- after all, she'd never had to spend a cent of what she was paid, and many people felt insulted if she told them -not- to pay her.

"I just need someplace nice to stay."
