Diego had heard much about his patterning. As he'd been born with it, grown up with it, it never seemed all that remarkable to him. Oh yes, he thought he was good-looking enough. Mares certainly seemed to pay attention to him--though not always in the best ways, but attention was something, so he didn't complain. He was tall enough at the shoulder, wide enough at the wing. But not dizzying or confusing, thank you very much. Still, it wasn't often that he met someone with a pattern that competed with his, so when he spotted the dark mare, dotted in gold, white at the points and tips of her wings, he couldn't help but look. He couldn't help but stare. And then he smiled and trotted closer, wings rustling cheerfully. "Hello, hello," he called to her. "I'm Diego. What's your name?"

The black mare, her body covered in golden dots that formed swirls upon her coat, had been day dreaming when suddenly brought her back to reality. A pink blush quickly rose to her cheeks, yet it would be incredibly hard to notice upon the black coat. "W-what?" She quickly stuttered; everything the being in front of her had said had flown into one ear and out the other as it were. Her silver eyes fell upon the stallion and she blinked, her gaze frozen upon him.
She looked him over for a minute, attempting to take in his pattern and coloring though she was still having a rather difficult time discerning anything at the moment it seemed. He was quite a slight, unlike any soquili she had ever encountered before. "Hi..." Auri responded shyly, fidgeting upon her hooves. She gave him an apologetic look. "I'm terribly sorry, but w-would you mind repeating what you said?"

Diego laughed. Not at the mare, exactly. He was just amused by the reaction. He slowed, then stopped and refolded his wings. "I said hello," he repeated. "And that my name was Diego. Then I asked what your name is." His ears twitched with surpressed laughter. "Want me to ask again?"

Auri watched him and blinked. "Oh..." Her voice trailed off as she allowed her silver orbs to travel downward to stare at her hoof that was currently pawing at the ground in anxiousness. "No..." The mare added when he finished talking, looking up again at him. She would have said something along the lines of 'I think I got it...' yet she was afraid it would come out rudely.
She attempted a polite smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you Diego. My name is Auri..." The mare what at a loss of what else to say to the stallion. Suddenly though something else came to her head and she began again. "It means gold," She tilted her head slightly as she explained the meaning to him. "My owner gave me the name began she thought it was fitting since my markings are golden in color." The mare blushed slightly; telling him a fact that was rather obvious by simply looking at her.

Her honesty, though, made him laugh. Sure, he could see that her markings were golden, but there was something about the way she said it that just made him happy. "They're very nice markings." What? He was partial to swirls. "Like stars rolled in sunlight and then came to spin around your coat before disappearing again."
He lifted his head. "I don't know if Diego means anything, but I like the way it sounds. Diego. Dee-aaaaay-go," he stretched the word out, demonstrating.

Auri smiled, a blush creeping upon her ebony cheeks. "Thank you, though I'm certain that my marking aren't nearly as vivid as the image you described." The description certainly was interesting, and she had never met someone who had remarked on her coat in such a manner. In a way she found it to be rather endearing. "Your marking are very nice as well." She beamed at him. "They are so intricate... I hoped you don't mind me saying so, but they remind me a great deal of mosaic."
Auri gave a nod of her head, agreeing with the stallion. "Diego." She repeated him. "It certainly does sound nice. I think it's short and simple... Perhaps that is one of the reasons why it does sound so nice. My name is that way too i suppose." She released a soft giggle; thinking to herself that it was preferable to have a shorter name than a long one, which could at times be hard to pronounce and create confusion.
