Kipenzi ran about the grassy land blindly, thinking of her days as a young foal, running around the grasslands of her old herd, longing to get to know the world around her. And yet, here she was. She had escaped the suffocating lies of the herd and had already met one Soquili, a beautiful blue mare named Figment. She had been different than those in Kipenzi's herd, of course. In the herd all of the Soquili weren't any exotic colors, they were all shades of brown, black, and white. No blues or greens, bright reds or burning yellows, just plain colors. These Soquili were all new and different. And she liked it.
'Round and 'round Kipenzi ran, circling trees and bushes as she went. Akida trailed behind her, struggling to keep up with Kipenzi's long strides. Kipenzi smiled. With the wind in her mane and Akida trotting behind her, Kipenzi could run for hours.

Oblivious to the mare's antics, a stallion lay snoozing under one of the large acada trees. His bright blue coat shone sapphire in the sunlight like the clear blue waters of the river. But one pair of eyes was open and watching the cavorting female and her canine companion.
Next to the painfully conspicuous blue soquili male, an almost-as-obvious blue mountain lion female lay curled, head up and ears forward in curiosity. Her pure white tail plume flicked in the air as she followed the strangers with her violet eyes.
"Oi, Cloud." Her tail flicked at the sleeping stallion's blue haunches like one would swot a fly, yet it earned her nothing but a low grunt and a flick of one slim blue ear. Fine she huffed, giving the lazy lump next to her a despairing look.
Springing to her feet she trotted out from the shade of the tree and jumped up onto a small rock, hoping to catch a better glimpse of the racing pair, and maybe get to join in. Cloud was being too boring right now!

Kipenzi kept on running while Akida, the gazelle-colored wolf stopped. She had spotted a blue smudge quite a bit away, atop a rock. Akida ran as fast as she could and got in front of Kipenzi, knowing very well that Kipenzi was concentrating too hard on running and would never hear her little wolf friend warn her about something out near a large acada tree.
Kipenzi stumbled, almost tripping over Akida. "Akida?" Kipenzi knew that she would never purposely trip her, but she did, and she wanted to know why.
Akida didn't speak, but simply flicked her tail toward the blue smudge. She gazed up at Kipenzi to see that she was smiling, blindly walking toward the blue figure. Akida soon noticed that Kipenzi was now running at a steady pace; she saw the blue spot looming in the not-so-distant distance. She wondered what it was, hoping it wasn't one of those Kalonas that she had heard about, but kept on running anyway, keeping up with Kipenzi.

Kanti watched the pair in the distance. Odd... that little game of theirs. But still, she and Cloud had been on their own for days now, she really wanted to meet some new folk again.
Giving a glance back at the still-asleep stallion, she flicked her tail at him. Silly colt. Turning back a wide grin spread over her muzzle, the strangers were coming towards her! Jumping down from her rocky perch she trotted out a little way, away from Cloud and the tree, waiting for the racing pair to reach her.
Cloud, still under the tree, snorted softly, hind leg stretching out as he shifted. His ear flicked, catching the faint sound of drumming hooves, but it was so warm and comfortable under his tree.... Just a little longer...

Kipenzi stopped when she reached a blue mountain lion with a heart above it's nose and a pure white tail plume. "Hi!" She almost shouted, excited to meet someone new. Just beyond the rock on which the blue mountain lion had probably stood was a sleeping stallion, a bright blue one at that. She smiled. Another Soquili! It'd be great to meet someone new again.
Kipenzi grinned at the mountain lion and motioned toward the small one's stallion friend. "It's all sunny out! Why's he sleeping?" Kipenzi clearly didn't understand why the blue stallion was sleeping, wasting away the day. Her face contorted into a question mark as she awaited an answer.

Kanti's grin widened, till she was positively smirking. "Hi there!" She called back, stepping forwards to study the mare and her companion. At the question she looked back over her shoulder.
"Oh him.. he is lazy..." She snickered under her breath, tail plume waving.
"... I am not lazy.." A deep voice replied from behind the blue lioness. The great mountain of blue fur slowly rose, unfolding muscular legs till he stood upright. Giving his punkish blue mane a shake he turned sparkling grey eyes on the two newcomers.
"Well, hello there." Smiling he walked towards the three, short blue tail held behind him, dancing in the breeze like a captive blue cloud. He gave the lioness a nudge with his hoof, eyes still on the strange mare and her wolf friend. He grinned, eyes warm, amused. "I was dozing in the sun. Old stallions do that kind of thing."
Of course the sky-coloured stranger was far from old, his had an almost colt-like energy that shimmered around him even when he stood still, his gaze alive with humour and friendliness.

Akida snickered beside Kipenzi. Akida knew that the stallion was nowhere near as old as Kipenzi was, even though Kipenzi probably acted younger.
"Old?" Kipenzi laughed, "You've just met old." Kipenzi smiled, knowing she was pretty old, but not as old as some others she'd seen. "My name is Kipenzi, and this," she motioned with her head toward the gazelle-colored wolf at her side, "Is Akida. And you two are...?" Kipenzi introduced herself and hoped to grab the stallions name, as well as the mountain lion's.

Cloud grinned, short tail flicking. "Im Cloud Runner, and this little pain-in-the-butt is Kanti."
The afformentioned pain-in-the-butt turned and hissed at the blue stallion, who just laughed, a rich deep sound. Kanti stuck her muzzle in the air, back turned to her companion though she looked up at the mare with interest.
"Ignore that oaf.. but yes, I am Kanti.. the brains of this outfit. Its nice meeting you Kipenzi, Akida.. what brights you out to this wild place?"
Cloud just stood, grinning down at Kanti and the two new travailers.

Kipenzi grinned. "Kanti and Cloud Runner? Nice and fitting names."
She flicked her tail back and forth while thinking. What had brought her here, to this specific place? Really, Kipenzi had to answer, so after a bit of thinking she blurted out, "Curiosity, I guess. I wondered what was here, and I found out. Plus, the beauty of it all." Kipenzi smiled at Cloud Runner, even though she was speaking to Kanti. Her eyes sparkled as she questioned the two in front of her. "What bring you here?"

Cloud grinned, head bobbing in gratitude. "Thanks. Your names are rather more stunning, I think."
Kanti rolled her eyes at her companion's comment, but watched the mare, smiling happily as her tail curled round her feet. "Well.."
Cloud continued, glancing down at Kanti before looking back at Kipenzi again. ".. we are travellers. We simply happen to be passing through this area. It is so beautiful and open here." He smiled happily, turning his head to take in the wild open view.

"Tha..." Akida started, but was abrubtly cut off by Kipenzi.
"Thank you," Kipenzi beamed, basking in the glow of the compliment. She watched as Kanti rolled her eyes, and she laughed a bit. Was a bit of... flirting occurring?
"You're both travelers, too?" Kipenzi smiled. "We've traveled for many nights to get here, from my herd's land area, the grasslands. We're still traveling, hoping to see many beautiful places, and faces. And yes, it is very beautiful here." Kipenzi's smiled widened. They had so much in common!
Akida nodded at Kipenzi. They were travelers, it was true. As she stood there, she wondered, will we continue to travel now that Kipenzi has found a place to her liking?

Cloud chuckled softly at the mare's enthusiasm. It was lovely to hear after some of the places and things he had seen recently.
"Nodding his head at her question he smiled. "So you come from the Grasslands? I have heard of it but have not visited there yet. I have been seeking out less . well known areas." He grinned, blue tail flicking lazily at his muscled rump. "I have already fond one beautiful face.." He added, grey eyes sparkling playfully, ignoring the white-tuffed tail that flicked sharply against his front leg.
Kanti frowned up at her self-appointed charge. Really! He could be so shameless!

"Yes," Kipenzi nodded, confirming what Cloud Runner had said. "I have come from the grasslands, seeking... more." She had searched for the perfect word before settling on 'more.' As, that was exactly what she was looking for. Something other than the grasslands, something other than her old herd... something more.
Kipenzi grinned back at Cloud Runner, joy dancing in her green eyes. She gasped, then blushed. "Me?" She looked down, her cheeks growing redder with time. Her? Beautiful? As if! But it had seemed as if she had been sincere, so maybe it was possible...

Cloud smiled at her bashful reaction, she really was cute. Stepping closer he huffed at one of the coloured feathers attached to her mane. "Yes you..." He chuckled softly in reply, lifting his head back up. "There is so much more out there as well. I have climbed the highest peek of the far western range, passed through the darkest forest to the north. There are so many wonders out there, the sharp south wind, the small waterfall with leaping fish.. the never ending expanse of savannah..."
He lifted his head, watching the shadow of an eagle floating high above them. He had seen many, many things. But there was more. More unique vistas, more trails to follow, secret glades just waiting to be discovered.
The wind ruffled his upright mane, bringing with it an old stale scent of lions. Yes... and danger. Danger to face full on, danger to flee from. Danger to even chase after...

Kipenzi smiled and blushed. Beautiful? yeah, right. In a girl's eyes, she was anything but. Her mane was of a bland, light gray brown color, as was her tail. Her hooves were of two different colors, and her eyes were a shade of blue-green that nobody knew the name of. She was ugly!
She turned to Cloud Runner and grinned. Those places... they sounded so... fantastic! "Wow," she breathed, her lips barely moving. A waterfall with leaping fish? She wished she had enough energy left inside her body so that she could explore more than the lands she had currently come to love, but she knew it probably not possible. She thought in her head that she couldn't do it, and that was all she needed to fail.
