The day had been spent and now the bright summer sun had begun its quick retreat to the western sky. Clouds seemed to change colors almost instantly. Between warm pinks and deep purples. Most certainly a sight to behold. And Olivia had a front row seat.

The little flutter had chosen her flower for the evening. As which she often did around this time of night. With the disappearing sun the soft petals would fold over and she would soon had a shelter for the night. The warm summer air tossled her long mane and tail. Her wings fluttered gently against the breeze as she watched the skies with chocolate colored eyes. Tiny pin points of light began to shimmer in random spots in the sky. It wasn't quite the time in when they would all be out. And the mare was quite happy for these last moments of light.

Night time always seemed to be the worst time for her. Olivia, like her own mother, preferred to stay in her smaller size. But there were always the risks. The larger breeds of Soquili could easily trample you if you weren't careful! And she had had this happen to her almost once every day. Sometimes she wondered if any other Flutters were out there. Experiencing the same things she did.

Closing her eyes, Olivia hummed a soft tune to herself. Her tail flicking over the edge of the flowers petals and dangling down towards the ground below.

Sunset. A time of great beauty, for the sun said it's goodbye at night, and slowly faded away from the earth. The colors of the sky were much to be preferred to that of the night-sky itself...all dark and eerie and less active than the day, but the colors that came before and after the blackness appeared were worth dealing with the night.

The flutter wasn't much of a sleeper, so he stayed up all day, and most of the night. He usually found comfort in flowers, but they didn't seem at all as much fun at night then they did in the day....so Laures was prone to buzzing around while the sun was gone. Of course he moved in the daytime...that was when the world was up and ready to have fun...and he dared not miss a beat. Had he missed it, he would be torn...

So the flutter was a very...very active little fella, hardly ever spending a second in peaceful silence....his wings moving at an incredible speed every time he moved only added to the noisy life he lived. Laures preferred staying small, like the size of a bug...for he hated the ground....so walking wasn't really an option. AND his wings were much too big when he grew...much, much to big for his liking.

Laures buzzed about, making too much ruckus as he moved...trying to find something remotely interesting...perhaps a pretty flower to watch the pretty sunset in? That was, until he heard the humming not far off. Such a pretty noise! WHERE did it come from?

((Its quite alright. XD!! ))

She never really fell fast asleep right when the flower's petals closed. Usually she would stay up hours later just listening to the sounds of the night and watching as glowing auras of fireflies passed on the outside of her chosen flower. And often she thought of her family. Olivia knew her mother was never that far away, but even so such a distance took a bit of time to cover when you were small.

The flutter mare didn't mind the ground. Yes, it was quite dirty after all and she'd rather not get dirt on her hooves. Plus there was also an equal chance of getting stomped on anyway being all the way down there. Far from the eye sight of the giants who roamed about her.

Ears pricked forward as the subtle sound of buzzing reached her on a breeze. Though she did not halt her humming. In fact, she didn't really pay it much mind. To her it probably was just a bug making its way home for the night. Even bugs needed to be home, warm in their own beds for a good nights rest to start their work the next day. Wings opened and closed slowly as her eyes lowered to scan the flower tops around her. She didn't see anything quite yet, but it was indeed getting closer.

Family was something the flutter wished he remembered he had, but could not no matter how hard he tried. It was the one thing he truly was jealous of when he saw other soquili. Most of them time he saw them with no wings, with bird wings, or even ones that were miniature ponies, and he was glad he had the wings of a butterfly because he proved to be more prettier than the rest...but when he saw a family he couldn't help himself.

The thought of having a mother or a father, or both, who cared about you more than anything in the world was amazing, but it was only a dream. Those things couldn't be replaced by random mares and stallions who wished to 'take' care of him, for one...he was grown so it was too late, and two, he knew he had parents...with flutter wings just like him, but where were they?

Ah, well if they never showed up, they never show up...and there would be really nothing he could do about that.

The humming never stopped and as he got closer it obviously got louder and louder. With each buzz, he could tell which group of flowers the soft voice was coming from but which particular one, now that was the question.

"Hello?" He called out, as he was just below Olivia's own flower, the humming catching his attention so much he never wanted it to stop but he DID want to talk to the soquili...or creature in charge of the humming so it had to stop eventually.

Perhaps it would be another flutter? That would be wonderful, as he never saw another of his kind before...!!

Poking her black nose in between the bottom petals of the flower she was in, Olivia stared downward. Eyes full of curiosity at the resounding hello that had come upward. Her own wings flickered quickly. Almost in pace with a humming birds. They were always such nice creatures.

Her long hair spilled partly out between the flowers as she peered this way and there for the source of the hello. Of course, by now her humming had stopped. "Hello?" The little flutter mare called out a bit cautiously. One never knew what might be lurking about!

But then again you never knew, it could just be another Soquili looking for a chat. But so low to the ground like this? They had to be relatively small, even her own size. And that made her a little excited. Olivia herself had also never met another flutter outside her own family. And she had begun to think that they were the only ones.
