It didn't take much convincing to her mother for Ethel Rowena to slip from the pride's borders for a day. It did on the other hand make her brother feel uneasy, but he was a new dad so how could he not worry? It was nice for Rowena to be able to escape the childrens' cries and the duties of a pride. She took a deep breath and smiled, today was going to be a good day. No matter what. She didn't care where her feet took her, she just walked, almost running, to get away from the pride faster.

Kaiden relaxed under the shade of a tree. He had been bored enough to leave the pride for a while. His brother and father had the scouting covered. Yawning, he continued to rest, his tail flicking gently. Everything was boring without Nova around...maybe something will perk his interest soon enough.

Rowena ran until her legs were shaking with excitement. She hadn't been so far from the pride before... As she slowed to a walk a scent caught in her nose. Egarly she followed it, someone she didn't know... her curiousity began to build as she got closer. Poking her head up she noticed the male under the tree and she became a little nervous. What had dad said about strangers? What did that matter!? She was almost an adult now... she could make her own decisions. Quietly she continued towards him.

At first, Kaiden did not hear the noise behind him. He was too busy daydreaming, staring up at the clouds imagining them to be something they werent...a wolf...a bunny...a herd of antelope being mauled by a pride of lions...it was just random things. But his thoughts always seemed to go back to Nova..and he would see her angelic form in the clouds. Shaking his head, he flicked his ears looking down at the dirt below him. The male still had no idea he was being stalked.

A cubbish thought came across her mind as she noticed he was not paying attention to her. A grin spread across her maw as she thought of pouncing him, just to scare him but then the thought of being killed dead didn't look to pleasant. As she drew closer she tried to become noisier so he'd at least know she was coming. "Heya..." She called to him, hoping to at least draw his attention.

Kaiden's ears suddenly flew up at the noise. He probably should have been more alert. At the voice, he breathed a sigh of relief. At least it was just a girl. He looked over his shoulder, his eyebrows raising a bit. A young one too... "Heya." The male returned the greeting, giving her a nod. "Whatcha doing all the way out here by yourself?" He tilted his head at her, eyes caring and gentle. "You could get into trouble y'know.."

She immediately felt relieved that he was being so nice... or maybe she was just freaking out. "Hey, I'm almost an adult..." She said as she stopped a few feet away from him. "Who said -you- couldn't get into trouble?" She said with a small smile. "I am just getting some away-from-the-pride time..." Her tail swung happily behind her.

The male simply nodded. "That's always a good thing..to get away. But sooner or later you'll go back...cause you'll miss them too much. I could never leave my family." He idly chuckled to himself. "I guess our bond is just way too strong." Shrugging, he looked over at her again. "I didn't say anything about me getting in trouble...but the fact that I'm a grown adult lion....I doubt anyone would bother me." Kaiden gave a small smile over to her. "On the other hand you're just a teenage female. Someone could take advantage of you, y'know.."

Rowena kept her smile but understood what he was saying, it didn't take a genius. "I think I could hold my own..." she began but knew that if some big lion that was in a not-so-nice mood felt like she needed to be taught a lesson... she shivered at the thought. "How do you have such a close bond with your family? My brothers always argue... one has kids... and one is nuts. Well I tease him about it..." She sighed and decided it was safe to lay down. "My pride isn't very big... and we are close... but I have a feeling it could break up any day."

"It's because my father has already lost so much. Kamau, my step-brother, is extremely close to Dad....he lost his mate and two daughters a long time ago. After he met my mother, Dad felt like he could start over...but now, he hardly sees her....or his two other children. He's worried again, and he thinks he might crack, so we hold onto him. We keep each other up, and we keep each other strong. That's all we can really do...that's our family." He gave a gentle sigh looking out across the plains. His family was strong...but small. How long could they hold out?

"Well that's terrible to hear!" Rowena said, somewhat startled. For how calm he was, it was rather sad. "I'd be distraut... I guess I am taking advantage of what I have, or I don't realize how great it is... I do have a loving mother and father... and I guess I'm an aunt..." She sighed and buried her nose in her paws. "I guess I should appreciate them more, huh?" She asked as she looked back up at him. "Do you have kids?"

Kaiden laughed. "Well, just be more careful. And no, no children. I'm a child myself, actually." The male flashed her a lopsided grin, one that ran in his family. Flicking his tail, he yawned a little. "Besides, there's so many cubs that don't have parents...everyday they are being lost to the wilderness and no guidance." Looking over the lands he stared out a moment, then sighed. "You have kids?"

"I have a niece and a nephew if that counts..." She said as she giggled at his grin. "They are very young but the only ones that I know of in the family. I have 3 older brothers and a sister. Only one of my brother has kids... so as far as I know, there could be more..." Rolling her eyes she sighed. "Bella is so nice.. such a nice change compared to Nesaru..."
Rowena really felt like she could open up to this lion... it seemed like they each had a lot of family... "My name is Ethel Rowena by the way... but what you want to call me, I don't really mind."

"Sounds like you come from a big family, too." Kaiden gave a light chuckle running a paw around his mane. "My mom wants grandchildren soon...from Kamau no less. Kam is extremely crazy, and I doubt he'll settle down. As for me? I'm probably not going to go down that road for a while." He chuffed a little. At the mention of names, he snorted. "Wow, totally forgot to introduce myself. I'm a complete dunce. My name is Kaiden. You may shorten it if you like. It's a pleasure to meet you, miss Ethena. Hope you don't mind, I just sorta combined the two."
