Yes yes, we all know the wonderful "narutards" will be there as always this year. That is unproventable. The ones who buy the Itachi coats from hot topic and then claim it's a cosplay.( Please don't hit me if you're one of them. This may not imply to you, but all the veterans of otakon know what I mean when I say.. "narutard" *flinch* )
In any case, my guess for this year would be none other then Death Note. I'm sure we'll see many an L (if that's even considered cospaly)this year. There were some last year.. and god only knows how bad it will be THIS year. Don't get me wrong Death Note is a pretty freaken sweet anime, I'm debating on going as Misa Misa this year.. the only thing preventing me? Deathtards. (<-- I just made that one up! 4laugh )
I'd prefer not to be lumped with the over active, "I LOVE DEATHNOTE AND NARUTO AND FMA! BWHAHAHA!!" Fans. I love to have a discussion with other cosplayers about an anime.. but sometimes.. some can take it a little too far. I've seen the madness at photoshoots for Naruto before.. and believe me things got ugly fast >_<;
Another (unfortunite) over done cosplay this year may be The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. With the ever popular dance spreading like wild fire, though it pains me to say... there will be MANY cosplayers of Haruhi, Mikuru,Yuki.. you get the idea. (This is hard for me, seeing as though I saw the anime when it wa subbed.. and now that it's dubbed there are tons of followers D: .. I'm selfish when it comes to the animes I've watched then have become main stream) Last year I cosplayed Mikuru Asahina. The dance gathering consisted of about.. 12 people? So this year.. i'm expecting 30+. crying .. I'm still sad.
So, that's your que. What do you think this year will be like? Thoughts, opinions, hate comments if I offended ._. ?

I agree that Death Note and Naruto are over done and I mean alot but what I think that will be another anime that will be overdone is Bleach

Within the span of the next three years, the vocaloids will be over-cosplayed. I was thinking of being Hatsune Miku, myself.
Hmm... I'm not exactly sure. Kingdom Hearts is always over-done, and I'm adding to that this year, by being Roxas. XDD
Since Lucky Star was recently dubbed, that'll most likely be over-done.

Along with the Narutards (Though I love Naruto) There will prob be Kingdom Hearts cosplayers, quite a bit as well (Last year had alot) Though im not totally sure.... Oh yea! For sure there will be alot of Death Note cosplayers! (Or Deathtards) Since the voice of L (Jap. version) is coming this year! Not sure about other things, mabey a little more Vampire Knight since the Anime has been coming out! But i would love to see anyone that can do good cosplay from there!

I know plenty of people who are doing the Haruhi dance. I srsly want them to take a hard look. Since evryone is doing it this year.
I hope there will be some Lucky*Star coslayers this year =3

Last year Deathnote was definitely overplayed. xD.
I think this year may be Haruhi Suzimiya. (however, I want some Lucky Star ones.)

Well, I can say from my experience. Hellsing is usually overdone. Final Fantasy series (especially 7 tho I love it so) is done to death along with X and X-2. I'm sure Bleach is gunna be big this year, but I can't say much b/c I'll be Neliel Tu, dressing my bf up as Ichigo in Bankai form and have a Yuchiru taggin along too. The only odd one in my group will be a random Dan from Street Fighter lol. I agree with Naruto and Deathnote, hell anything that they've butchered on cartoon network is likely to be big. Just can't help being a bleach fan tho, I have seen all 180 episodes that are out and read all the latest in the mango that's available to chapter 318 or whatever now. My friend ordered the movie from Japan as soon as it was available, hoping to do the same with DiamondDust Rebellion. So I'm a lil obsessive, at least no cartoon network junkie will recognize my cosplay blaugh Hope to see you all there!!

Lets just say that I am pretty much sick of those who buy a Naruto headband, an akatsuki cloak and straighten their hair and call themselves Itachi. NO. So yes I agree with the original post.
Deathnote...unless you are cosplaying one of the Shinigami...I dont really think anybody else can be considered cosplay. AT ALL. I hate those who put on jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt and call themselves "L". Yea...no. Although i have seen a couple L cosplayers that look like they came out of the manga. But that was 2 people...and they were over in a Japanese con and were Asian...so they could fit the part A LOT easier then we could. (Deathtards - love it XD)
Bleach is becoming overdone, although last year I did see a Hollow cosplay where the person rigged a mirror system in his chest so it appeared they had a hole in their chest. But Ichigo..."histuguya"...and Mr. Hat and Cloggs are getting old...fast.
Personally I want to see MORE of old shows, like MS Gundam. i want to see more decent Alucards from Hellsing, and i want to see more goof off shows like Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon. I personally am going as Duke Devlin this year from Yu-Gi-Oh! and I cant wait.

Though I retired Misa back in June, so really I've just got the PJ and Prom Sakura Haruno left.
Really, I don't care if they're "over done." They're just what most people know and keep up with. *Shrug*

As always it'll be Bleach, Naruto, and unfortunetly Death Note is up there.
Its always the ones that come to america the year before the convention. I've been seeing a lot more Ouran cosplayers too dont know if you can call that one over done or not though.
Haruhi is going to be big and from what I hear so is Rozen Maiden. Though I will be interested to see people (especially the BJD community) pull off that last one.
Personally I'm going to be one of the Bleach bums(bleachtards?) pulling off that one again...only because its easy since I have everything lying around from previous years.
