 She was gone! Finally out of his hair. Dark felt like he could cheer but he wouldn't because something told him that somehow Lunathiel would be able to hear him even all the way from the plains. He didn't need any more lecture's from the older mare. He knew she meant well but what more could he possibly do for his daughter? She had run off on her own, with some of his stuff, and all the food he had just collected.
A look that said 'I'm somewhat less then thrilled' made it's way to the thief's face as he shook his head. Next time he saw that girl he was taking his stuff back but until then...
He stretched out his long ebony wings and beat them a few times to create a small cooling wind around him. Until his daughter came out of hiding he was going to do all the things he couldn't do while she was around. Which included napping halfway through the day.
Folding his wings back to his sides he lay down in the long grass getting ready for a good short sleep.

 Rikku galloped through the open field her short mane and braids flipping in the wind. Her scarf was flopping against her sides and legs as if it wanted to trip her up, but she refused to let it at the moment. She just had to find someone to play with before she went crazy! The little mare put her head down and kicked up her heels letting out a whinny as she galloped. It was such a pretty day, not to hot and not to cold. There just had to be someone nearby that would play right? She skidded around a corner and saw a dark looking stallion moving to lay down in the grass. Oh Oh oh! Maybe he would play! and he wore strange cloth like her to! This would be so much fun! Tossing her mane she galloped towards him and called out "Hy! Mister!"

Tan ears flicked and crimson eyes opened as a voice reached the stallion. He blinked a few times thinking he was only imagining things but the rumbling of the ground told him otherwise. He lifted his head to see what was coming his way and found himself blinking in disbelief again.
A very energetic mare was running his way wearing clothes not entirely unlike his own. While he know shouldn't be surprised by this he still was. It wasn't very often he encountered another that wore cloth like a two-legger.
"Hey yourself!" He called back to her getting to his feet. His nap could wait, there was a lady present now and he wasn't about to be rude.

She danced right up to him and stopped, although she didn't actually stay still... her rump wiggled around as she danced.
"you wear cloth like me!" she giggled brightly "I'm Rikku! D you want to play tag with me?!" She giggled again ignoring her mane as it flopped back and forth across her neck and the light flick she got from the tassels of her scarf.
Rikku was a bubbling ball of excitement and energy, she rarely frowned and tried to make friends with everyone she meet.

He watched her with amusement as her rear continued to move despite the fact that she had mostly stopped. Energetic seemed to be an understatement. She seemed to have limitless energy burning inside her that bubbled out in her voice and movements.
"I'm Dark. A pleasure to meet you." He said smiling at the cheerful mare. Her energy seemed to be contagious and he was beginning to feel more like he had gotten a good nights sleep then like he was about to nap. In fact, he was beginning to feel more like he was a foal again.
He hadn't been asked to play a game for quite a while and while it seemed like an odd request he wasn't about to turn her down. "Alright, sure...wings or not?" Being able to use his wings would put him at an advantage over her for the game but some liked the challenge.

She giggled happily, and a big grin stretched across her muzzle as she stood before him now with her rump still wiggling back and forth. She was excited, he was going to play! That meant she would get to have some fun with someone finally!
"Wings are fine if you want to use them Dark," she'd never got to play tag with a wind before.. oh this was gonna be really really fun! She started dancing again then suddenly reached out with her muzzle and lightly bumped his chest "Tag! You're it!"
The mare wheeled around and took off like a shot across the open grassland hooves thudding against the earth, she didn't look to see if he was coming, she just figured he'd be behind her soon enough.

Her excitement really was contagious and he found himself flicking his tail back and forth in time with her wiggling behind. He chuckled as she made her decision and unfolded his wings. Clearly the girl was not afraid of a challenge, that or she simply didn't know what he could do with his feathery friends. "Alright then." He said watching her dance about again. He jumped slightly as she tagged him signaling the start of the game not really expecting it.
He watched her take off like a lightning bolt and was rather impressed by her speed. Maybe this game would calm her down a bit as she seemed to be putting all of her energy into her pace.
He stood still watching her slowly shrink into the distance before galloping off. He gave his wings a few powerful beats and he lifted off the ground. He flew low to keep the game at least a little fair, it wouldn't be any fun if she couldn't get to him after all. Within a few minutes he was flying above her casting her in shadow. He would tag her yet, he wanted to see what she would do first.

She kept galloping even though she knew he was right on her heels, but she had a few trick up her sleeves. She suddenly hung a sharp right. Spinning on her hooves rather quickly her tail flicking behind her. She was now running in the opposite direction, then she hung a right again, then a left, and slowly she began a tight zig-zag trying to get him off her tail for a bit.
She tossed her head slightly when her scarf smacked her in the face rather hard and she almost stumbled in surprise not expecting it. Righting herself she kept zig-zagging.

When she turned, he didn't quite realize what had happened and kept on going straight for several yards before he figured out what had happened. He chuckled as he leaned to the side to turn around, it seemed Rikku knew exactly what she had agreed to. The girl had some serious skills in this game, and probably others where running was involved.
He straightened up and began to fly in a straight line again but from what he could see he wasn't sure that would be such a good idea.
She was running in zig-zags.
He wasn't sure entirely how effective it was if she was trying to get away, it seemed a straight line would be better. He watched as her brightly colored scarf came up to practically attack it's owner and for a moment he thought she was about to take a tumble. "Rikku!" He called sounding a bit worried. When she didn't fall he let out a relieved sigh and focused back on the game. Zig-zags could also prove hazardous to ones health it seemed.

She looked back as he called her name, cocking her head to the side "yeeees?" The mare didn't seem to realize she'd almost taken a bad stumble, or didn't seem to really care, either way. She continued to run in zig-zags for a moment before she suddenly halted in a cloud of dust.
She reared as she turned and took off in the other direction with a giggle. She was galloping hard in a straight line.
She wasn't watching the ground though and completely missed the gopher hole. Her back hoof stepped right in it and she fell in a hurrican of flying hooves, scarfs, and hair.
She grunted softly and lay oon the ground hoof still stuck in the hole whimpering in pain.

"Nothing." He called back down to her shaking his head before she turned direction again. Not this time. He soared after her staying on her trail, grinning getting the feeling that she was about to get caught.
The look vanished as he watched Rikku hit the ground. "Rikku!" He called again taking a sharp dive to the ground. He landed and raced to her side. As he got closer he was able to get a good look at the situation.
Holes. They were something that should always be avoided for this very reason. "Hold still, okay?" He said softly as he gave her a gentle nudge. He didn't like hearing her whimpering like that, pain was never something pleasant and he didn't think it was something any girl should ever have to feel.
He took a few steps closer to the hole to get a closer look at the situation. She was stuck tight and the only way he could see her pulling free would be for her to be in the same position that she had stepped in it from. He didn't see her being able to stand that way without being in more pain.
"I'm gonna try making the hole bigger." He said not entirely sure how well it was going to work but it was worth a shot. "Tell me if it starts hurting more." He gave her a smile before setting to work, gently scraping away thin layers of dirt from the hole.

She let out a soft whine and shifted slightly "o-okay!" She sucked in a deep breath as he began to dig at the hole, not because he was hurting her, but she was afraid that it would and she didn't want to make any noises that would make him feel bad.
She waited not moving a muscle as he worked agonizingly slowly at the hole slowly digging out her hoof.
When she felt she could stand Rikku scrambled to her hooves in a flurry of movement, while still being careful of that leg.
Hobbling forward as she carefully pulled it free Rikku kept her leg held up refusing to let it touch the ground. The mare was in tears the appendage hurt so badly, but she also hopped that the bone wasn't broken. She didn't think so since she saw no blood or jagged white coming out of her skin toned coat.
She gave him a forced smile through her tears "th-thank you Dark."

As he scraped away layers of the earth he started to feel that it was less and less stable. Any moment now she would be able to get free. He blinked and took a few steps backwards as she got to her. Apparently any moment meant the one right then. He grinned once she pulled free knowing that it had worked but seeing the tears in her eyes knocked it right off his face.
"Rikku..." He didn't know what to say or do really. It was hurting her badly, more then he had thought it would.
With a small smile he took a few steps closer to her and turned slightly. "Here, lean on me." He said as he lifted his wing and pressed up against her side so she actually could without crushing the feathers. "And...don't cry..." He adding rubbing his muzzle against her neck. There were several things in this world he couldn't stand and seeing a mare cry was one of them.

Rikku leaned lightly against his side resting her head and neck over his back. She forced herself to stop crying and coed softly at him "I'm fine ..." she shook her hind leg slightly though, it still hurt so badly but she didn't want to seem weak in front of him, she didn't know why she felt that way but she did.
After a moment of rest Rikku pushed herself off him and stood uncertainly on three legs for a moment before starting to hobble forward "I think there is a small lake nearby ... we can rest there." The pain had pushed back the playfully wiggling mare for now and revealed a far more serious and less ditzy side in Rikku.
She tossed her scarf around so the long dangling ends hung off her side and so less likely to trip her up.
Turning back slightly as she hobbled along she gave Dark another smile of encouragement that she really was okay. Although the tears were gone, there was still a hint of pain in her eyes though she was trying to hide it now.

As she leaned against him he relaxed his wing letting it sit on Rikku's back until she moved. She stood on her own but Dark was unsure if she should be doing that. She was still injured but there didn't seem to be any reasoning with her on this. "Alright." He said figuring that a short trip likely wouldn't do any more damage to the mare.
"If you don't think you can stay standing I'll help you." He said not missing the look in her eye. A major flirt he was. Oblivious he was not. He could easily tell when something was wrong.
Rikku was sporting an injury that would even be keeping him off his feet for a short while. The main difference being he could fly to move to more comfortable places. Rikku had to walk. He was rather impressed by her determination to do it by herself.
