Not to sound like a rant, but I honestly think it is retarded *ahem*...no, MORONIC, that Gaians go around calling other Gaians noobs. What purpose are you trying to prove? You are only making yourself seem like an a** to everyone else by insinuating that a person is a noob just because their avi's not as expensively equipped as yours, or because they talk a certain way in chats or game rooms. Uh, reality check morons, everyone was once a newbie at some point. It is so childish and immature that I laugh at every mindless sap that I see doing it to people. So someone is new; are you trying to penalize them for it? Shut up and worry about yourself, because you sound so ignorant. I have only been called a noob a couple times ever, but I speak mostly for what I see in general. I know this will spark said remarks, but that only proves my point, so go ahead...fuel my fire!

This happens in every game. I still blame the society of today and still plan to kill everyone. Yeah some call you noob as a pointless insult. Frankly saying "Noob" is lamer than "Your mom". Lol they are pathetic when they call out noob to you, not even understanding the term.

QUESTION:
Since you don't like the term "noob", what term do you use to describe people who intentionally put spam in the wrong places and post with the literacy of pebbles being randomly dropped on a keyboard?

No. You call people who spam like that, morons. Because that is exactly what they are. I was a so-called noob and never spammed any at all. Calling everyone a noob just generalizes a virtual stereotype. Lame! You have just become what you hate when you start calling them noobs as well.

I think of the term as more of an adjective. It's just a new slang term for a 'greenie' or 'tenderfoot'. It's only an insult if it carries that kind of meaning to you. I'm sure the ones that would get the most bent by it are those that use it as an insult. I have some theories as to why some people see and use the term as an insult......

"I'm really sorry about your hand"

I think I agree with you there, piink. Although I do use the word (not that often, obviously) if I can't think of another word to describe the people (I use it in the context "stop being a noob", rather than "you're a noob" if I ever do - an adjective rather than a noun), I think it's a stupid label, like "emo". Everyone has to start off as a "noob" - why label someone that, when you used to be one yourself? I HATE labels...although the Gaia labelmaker is fun XP

I'm living for the only thing I know,
I'm running and not quite sure where to go...

Ugh. Definition check.

Noob/N00b: person who types poorly, acts idiotic on purpose (trolling), flamers with no reasons, yada yada yada...

Newb or Newbie: Person who is new to the game or site in question.

neutral Now. A bit better on topic. I've seen noobs, trolls and flamers in my days outside of Why Not's shining walls. People who rant and sound uptight themselves nearly class as flamers. You need to get over it. Sometimes, people are like that because they want a reply from you. Sometimes, people say things that are meant to be stupid so that maybe someone else would get it and there would be humour. Usually though, the second thing fails and they are called upon for it, getting their kick anyway because someone replied.

So. Where's your trap now?

And I don't know what I'm diving into,
Just hanging by a moment here with you...

assassin for the shadows

Your really wrong there
As it has been stated already, there is a difference between being a noob and being a newbie

I admit I use the term noob for illiterate people who act retarded
And yes, I used to be a noob (Or I think I was) because I was very illiterate
But I wasn't retarded like a lot of noobs are now

As for newbies, I personally love them
They're new to the site and ask questions to better know the site
While noobs just walk around being retarded all the time thinking they know everything
Not even I know everything
Newbies are new to a site and have at least a little literacy and the decency not to be rube about everything

I was talking to two of my cousins one time
One a noob who had been playing for about a year (And thought he 'really cool')
The other a semi-literate two year player who knew/knows Gaia really well
The noob kept saying that if he had more gold, we wouldn't be able to call him noob any more
Because in his mind, he would no longer be one
And my other cousin, the mature one, bluntly stated, "You could have over a billion gold and have been on here since '03.. And still be noob."

The point of that story:
Noob isn't determined by how much gold you have
Neither is newbie
I define noob by how literate a person is and how they treat others
And I fully believe what my cousin said

noob.

rofl

no rly though. 'noob' can mean alot of different things depending on how you look at it. liiiikeeee you. your a noob because your bitching and moaning about other people calling even more other people noobs. while the only reason you posted this is probably because someone called you a noob and your got pissy.

sooo.
in short.
it really just depends.
someone else could be like...
stalin your such a noob for bitching about piink's bitching.

I think that there's a difference between 'noobs' and newbies. To me, newbies are just that - new to the site, hardly any gold, starter clothes etc. But noobs are people 'hoo takl lyk dis man' and go around spamming, being racist on occasions, calling people scammers and noobs... etc etc etc. Having said that I have to admit I've called people noobs on occasion ^^ but only those who are like what I've just described.
