Ok so as of now I am starting this writer's journal.
I currently have two commissions for stories but I am quitting one of them. I feel like my reasons for doing this are fairly valid.
You do not hire a writer for their creativity but refuse to let them go through their creative process and insist that EVERYTHING be exactly your way. Sometimes you have to be a bit more flexible. I was as flexible as I could manage for my client but it wasn't enough. It frustrates me that they wouldn't just let me work on the project they hired me for.... oh well.
All is said and done now.
AND! I have another commission. It is for Linche and she is amazing to work for. She gave me an awesome story line and stepped back and let me work. It's amazing. I'm already half way done with hers!!
Anyone have any opinions??
EDIT: sorry for the errors ^_^;; i usually don't catch them untill I've already posted!!
Just a warning. lol

It gets to a point where if you're pestering the writer to do everything just so, you might as well be writing yourself! The whole point of a commission is to have something in the style of the person you're paying.
You don't try to get someone who makes silver tribal jewelry to turn out a rococo necklace, you don't bother sending someone who makes kimono a request for a formal business suit and you don't hire someone who naturally writes surreal adventure stories to produce a terse and depressing detective novel!
If you would pardon me a moment, I have to find some fabric for the person who did indeed ask for a kimono.

Lost writing is the worst thing ever!
I like to draft by hand, but I had to stop because my paranoia about lost papers got out of hand. And the cost for xeroxing the paper copies, oh, I don't want to think about that...

POST NUMAH THREE!
Yes, i accept commissions. lol, but I will need to know what you want me to write I only have a few rules.
1) no yaoi!
2) NO YURI!!!
3) I will occasionally do lemons but it will cost you. Big. (ok not that big)
NOW THAT THAT'S OUT OF THE WAY!!
I finished re-writing half of that commission. Now i just have to finish it tonight :]] YAY! I have permission to make up the end of the story and make it as scandalous as i wish. rofl lol.
ALSO!! I am judging to upcoming writing compitition so if you want advice, i am here to help, but what i can help WITH is limited. I'm not entering because i have too much to do.
EDIT: and yes there is a slight connection between my story and the song by P.O.D

POST NUMBAH FOUR!:
Ok I'm sorry. I DO realize that it was only been twelve hours since my last post. I paused for a second to decide if I SHOULD post right now...
Oh well. I have stayed up all night, working on a commission. Then when i was almost finished, my dear sister dragged me to Wal-Mart at 3 A.M. gonk
And when I got back, I figured that I should work on my Commission again so that I could finish it... I didn't want to do that right away.
I now realize how ONE distraction can detrail my WHOLE work ethic for hours on end...
but i think I need to finish that commission. I may include a Lemon within it :]]
(those who read fanfiction know what I am Refurring to stare )

POST NUMBAH FIVE!:
crying i think i made my goal too high... i need to lower it by about... 35 to 40,000 words.... yeah >< too high!
And that's all i've got at the moment!
Comments appreciated.

EDIT: In response to Savin's question... I may start doing yoai and yuri... But i will probably charge more for them.
And by lemons i mean slightly graphic but not in a vulgar or disgusting way. Also, I originally only did Lemons for heterosexual characters.

Calculating word/page counts is tricky not always reliable. I can't stand Christopher Paolini, but it bugs the heck out of me that people criticize him for underestimating how much he had left to write. Criticize him for the myriad of other things worth criticizing him for! Length estimation is an art, not a science.
Wal-mart? 3AM D: !!!
Was it...inspirational if nothing else?
I'm curious- why not yuri and yaoi? And do you mean graphic lemon or non heterosexual character in general?

Haha I would love to go to a walmart...it sounds so American. One day....
Surely writing yuri and yaoi are exactly like heterosexual stuff? I find writing them the same...

Post Numbah six...:
You know, I'm starting to regret my boring old journal name... I wonder if I could get a mod to delete it so I could start over...?
Oh well, for now, I'll deal with it.
And I have gradually been getting more secure about my writing abilities... My last commission is done (The awesome one I told you guys about) and just needs me to finish typing it and edit it really quick.
I love the client and I REALLY want her to hire me again. Hmmm. What's a reasonable price?? And another question, how old does my journal voice make me sound???
These are the questions my analytical but creative mind asks.... ninja
Also, you know that job finding guild that Gaia spotlighted?? GRRR! NOT A SINGLE COMMISSION REQUEST! gonk
I am so disappointed... Artists get WAY more work commissions than writers do... so not fair.
Well, Toodles for Now. --Chibi Kiya
P.S. : ENTER THE WRITING COMPETITION! I'M JUDGING IT!!
P.S.S: Uhh. I don't mind writing Yoai and Yuri so much now. lol. I've had a recent... Mind change about the matter.

I always found writing harder than drawing.. time wise at least.. the fact that you can write for others is wonderful.

It just got spotlighted the other day. I'm sure people are just saving up the gold. Who wouldn't want to hire you? You're so articulate!
Only thing I could say- maybe if you had a table with suggested gold rates? People are often more willing to spend if they can see a price. (And remember- people like 9's not 0'; say '999' instead of '1000' biggrin .)
