I'm not saying that I hate it, because I do. But I was just wondering because there are a lot of people who replied to this in the forums.
If so, why don't you like it? And also, would you read other Stephenie Meyer books if it wasn't about vampires and werewolves?

I don't like it either.
Why: 1) It's TOO popular. I like books with a fan base but not that BIG of a fan base.
2) The story line itself was good but I don't like romance.
Stephenie Meyer is a good author and I'll read the other books she's written but I won't pick up her vampire books again.

I loved the storyline of the Twilight series. It's so interesting and it hooks the readers well, but I absolutely hate the writing style and the characters. All the characters sound stupid, unrealistic, and just weird. I know the story wouldn't go anywhere without those characters, but it drove me mad while I was reading it.

I have yet to read that series though I have mixed reviews. It seems like you love it or you hate it. The kind of book that polarizes people to the point of Harry Potter crazed fandom means that it usually has some sort of style flaw. Because people who love to read normally wouldn't like it and the people who don't normally read love it because it is not like other books.

I think that's kind of a one sided argument XPanda, that's like saying would you read Rowlings if it weren't about wizards, or Tolkien if it was SCI-FI and not poetic fantasy.
I love the book, and I hate some things within the book. I like reading it because I've never really read romance before, and vampires are well, cool, IMO. What I hate is the characters, the whole Swan family bugs the hell out of me, Bella and her father most of all. Now seeing as I haven't been exposed to the normal family dynamic I understand that it can happen and it does happen more often than people want to admit. I can overlook the fact that the book is more or less soft-core porn for girls as if has some dangerous elements to it, and the obsessiveness is believable, albeit flippantly annoying. When Edward becomes normal in every sentence for seven chapters it got hard to read, but for me there's something I like about the books.
I think the biggest issue I have with the book is the fact that sunlight turns vampires into disco balls. Everything else is cool, I even like how she thought up placing them in an eternally overcast area of the States where their skin condition wouldn't be as noticeable. But sparkly? I have a had time imagining that Meyer couldn't think up something better than, when the sun hit his pale, perfect, Edward, marble, Edward-marble skin, he exploded into millions of beams like the sun hit a mountain of Edward-diamonds shaped like Edward!
The book in my opinion has its merits, the second book was mind numbing in the beginning, then it finally picked up, then Bella like stomped on my favourite character and I was crushed. I'm waiting for the third one, my sister just finished it so I'll probably pick that up some time this week.

Look to be honest I have never read this series before and I have to say, with a bit of confidence, that I probably never will. The synopsis for the story was enough to turn my opinion sour. It's not that I have a thing against vampire novels (though I rarely touch upon them) its just that they are rarely done well at all, and this one sounds to be no different.
This 'perfect' Bella I already despise in character, books likes these seem to have no depth. Its just a straight "convenient" line from beginning to end that immortalizes this desired 'love' and reads like a poorly made Shoujo to be honest.
I am not a fan of Harry Potter either, not for any stupid reason like "Its too popular" (though I do despise the fanbase it has acquired, unjustly in my opinion) I just dont think they are very interesting

I haven't read any of those books, but I see that people have very passionate opinions about them.
I am curious enough to check them out sometime.

I think I like the books because they help me when I'm depressed. When I went through a rough break-up, I grabbed the first book and read that until I felt better, To me, these books Stephenie Meyer has produced has a level of comfort for me. It gives me something simple to read when I don't feel like myself or my life is like a living hell. Though, I must say I absolutely hate the popularity it has gained. It only makes it worse when too many people read it... as though there is nothing else they can find and read to save their life. I also hate some things in the book that occur with Bella, i.e: her behaviour during the end of the second book. I found it a tad bit ludicrous. Other than that, the series for me has some significant value, though I don't drool hopelessly over it and, I have read much better books.
And yes, I have read another book completely unrelated to the Twilight series: "The Host." I hadn't even heard of it until my friend handed me the copy she had and requested I read it... and normally, when my friends give me a book to read, as long as it is fairly thick and will keep me occupied for at least a week, then I'll read it. I have to say, I adored that book. The plot was great, true there were a few things I didn't like that seemed to creep over from the Twilight series, but all in all, I liked it.

I must say, my opinion on this series is rather biased...
Just by brushing the surface, the plotline is something I have seen before. Unbelieveably good-look.ing vampire and young human girl fall in love, but the barriers of their race make things complicated. That was the first reason why I didn't like Twilight Secondly, the characters are so inhuman (yes, I know, they're not human in the first place, but seriously!) They have very (in my opinion) dull personalities.... Thirdly, it's not funny! T-T I like to get a laugh out of books if I can. Fourthly, romance completely overruns the fantasy in my opinion... (I'm hardcore fantasy freak.) I mean, yes werewolves and vampires, but, ug! talk2hand I like romance, but not at Twilight's level.
Strangely, I have nothing much against Twilight's fanbase. Twilight brought in teens who wouldn't normally pick up a book for fun (from my observations of friends and classmates) because of it's more teen/drama/romance themes. It's like a drama on TV... So thus, Twilight is deserving of it's fanbase, but not through much of it's literary expertise.
Just my opinion.

Well I wouldn't know because I just got Twilight last night. I'm not sure if I'll like it or not, but hopefully I will. That line to get Breaking Dawn sure was long last night at the bookstore, and I only went in line to get Twilight XD.
The only thing I don't like is how big the fanbase is. I mean, the fanbase is much bigger than the fanbase to InkHeart and InkSpell, and those books are popular too. I like to read books that are not very popular. It gives me a good feeling when I'm reading a book that no one around me is reading =3

I've never like it. The plot line is overdone and weak to begin with. And the writing/syntax is a little stilted. Not to mention the dialogue and the romance/character action sounds forced and unnatural. HOWEVER I will say this, She does have a great graphic artist working for her. I think I can peg all her success to that great cover.
