It was a glorious day out in the fields today. Figment made her way to the river she loved best. It ran through many trees that almost seemed to be a small forest. The sun beamed through the trees, making the water sparkle and look fresh.

She stopped at the edge of the river and bent her head down to take a drink. The water was nice and cold and satisfied her need to moisten her mouth. The river ran slowly was hints of little minnows in the calm parts. They watched as Figment stuck her face down into their home with terrifying eyes. As she raised her head back up, she noticed a flock of birds flying into a nearby tree. There had to be about fifty of them. She had never seen such a big flock. Something must have disturbed them.

Kipenzi trampled through the undergrowth, thirsty from the travels that the day had brought upon her. The trickle of a stream just up ahead appealed greatly to all of Kipenzi's senses. She smiled as she drew nearer and nearer to the stream, as she could imagine the taste of the water, the cool, tingling sensation she would feel when touching it... She was snapped back into reality as she came to the stream and spotted another mare just a bit up from where she stood.

Figment gazed around for the source of what frightened the birds. As she did this, she noticed a wild-colored female. She had browns and blacks all over her coat. "Hello there!" she called out to her. She usually didn't check to see if horses were friendly or not before talking to them. It could have been a flaw persay, but it was who she was. If it was who you were, then it wasn't a flaw at all.

The female was starting to get closer. Perhaps she was about to get a drink also?

Kipenzi continued on towards the female, as that place seemed the best spot to drink from the river. She smiled at the blue starry-looking female. "Hello!" she called to the mare, still smiling. She continued on until she reached the female. Before she had a chance to speak, Kipenzi dunked her muzzle into the water, hungrily lapping up the cool, crystal-clear liquid.

As Kipenzi raised her head back up from out of the water she realized how rude she must've seen. "I'm extremely sorry, uh..." Kipenzi fumbled for words, as she had no idea what the mare's name was. She looked at the mare, puzzled. She remembered meeting no others in this place... this place that came after the desert which she had known all her life. It was weird. But she liked this new place. Full of undergrowth and trees, crystal-colored water and lots and lots of new faces.

Kipenzi's thoughts were turned back to the curly-haired mare that stood in front of her, and waited before saying anything, as she wanted to know if the mare was to give up her name.

She blankly stared at the mare before figuring out what she needed. "Oh! I'm sorry. My name is Figment." she grinned. She never did understand why her parents called her Figment. It was such a random name, but yet so pretty and unique.

"So what made you come about these parts?" she asked. Figment usually just traveled about, not having a care of where she ends up. She could end up on the other side of the world for all she minded. Only thing was... she was on her own and was in danger for this reason at times, but being Figment, she took no notice to this and continued to think everyone was her friend around her.

Kipenzi nodded as Figment, the blue mare, gave away her name. Figment. It's a really pretty name, thought Kipenzi. She smiled and turned her thoughts back to Figment.

"What made me come here?" A warm smile spread across Kipenzi's face as she began the story of how she decided to trek beyond the boundaries of her old herd. "When I was just a young filly, an Elder in my old herd told me of how the grasslands were never-ending. She told me there was nothing but grasslands out there. So, I decided to go on a long trek to find the end of them, if there was one. As you can see, I found an end to the grasslands. Now, after journeying even further in a quest to find friends, I'm tired, and when I heard the trickle of the stream," Kipenzi took a breath and flicked her ears toward the stream, "I knew it'd be the perfect time to rest and take a drink." She smiled, hoping her story was clear enough.

Shaking her head, Kipenzi spoke again, "I'm so sorry! My name is Kipenzi." She smiled again, wondering if Figment thought it was as pretty as her's was.

Figment nodded as the mare repeated her question and listened to her explaination of her being here.

"Wow. You must have traveled a long ways. So what are you going to do, now that you are here?" she asked, tilting her head. She must have come far and it hopefully wasn't just to get a drink and go straight back home. If it was Figment, she'd probably explore the lands a little more and enjoy herself, and then go home to her family. It would be different for Figment though, since once she grew into an adult, her and her family pretty much went seperate ways. She hadn't talked to them in a long time and often wondered what they were doing and how they were. What if they even expanded onto the family and Figment wasn't there to see the new herd-members? She felt like she was missing out sometimes, but at the same time, had no idea where her family was.

She smiled sweetly as Kipenzi apologized again. "You have nothing to apologize for." she giggled. "That's a lovely name." It sounded unique and spunky to Figment. A little foreign too, but foreign names were usually pretty.

Kipenzi smiled at Figment and nodded. "Yes, it was a very long way." Kipenzi though. What am I going to do now that I'm here? She had the answer. "Now that I'm here... I think I'm going to stay. I liked the grasslands, but it was so plain. And it wasn't like I had any family there of anything. I don't know my family. And this place is.." she looked about, taking a breath, "Beautiful." Kipenzi grinned and spoke again. "I really like it here, and there are so many new Soquili to meet! I love seeing new faces everyday, so this is the place for me." She nodded again, a twinkle in her eyes.

"Okay," she laughed a bit. Apologizing was something natural for her, it was hard not to do. "Thank you," she said. She had no idea where her name had come from, but she liked it.

She was staying here. It sounded great to Figment since maybe Kipenzi could be her new friend. Figment had her casual run-ins with others, but never had another horse to necessarily call a friend. Kipenzi seemed especially nice.

"I love seeing faces everyday too." she nodded. "Although, it's not like I have old faces." With this, she giggled a bit. Without having her family around, Figment was alone. She never did make any true friends. She wasn't really sure why. She figured the other horses she ran into must have been busy with their own lives.

"So what are you planning on doing the rest of this wonderful day?" she pirked up.

Kipenzi smiled and giggled along with the blue mare that stood calm in front of her. "Yeah, meeting new Soquili everyday is great!" She neighed, showing her happiness. She had found what seemed to be a great new friend, and she liked it. Other than Akida, before now, she had never really had any friends, other than those back at the herd. But that was then. This is now.

"I don't know," She bit her lower lip, thinking. What would she do the rest of the day? "Why?" Kipenzi was just wondering why the mare was asking her this question, while also wondering what the other mare was doing the rest of the day. The sun was shining beautifully and there were many possibilities.

Figment just looked at Kipenzi while she talked. Although Figment sometimes didn't know what to say to things, she was a good listener. "Oh. I was just wondering..." she paused mid-sentence. "I'm not doing anything today." she told the mare. She kind of wanted to talk more with this new female she had just met. If they both didn't have anything to do, why not?

She got butterflies thinking of things to do. Kicking her back feet up in a burst of energy, she winnied. "Oh! That's it! Maybe we could try catching butterflies!" Although where they were now, didn't keep many insects around, they could easily go somewhere. It wouldn't take too long to get to the border of the grasslands. Figment always thought of random, fun games to play. She had to find things for her to do all the time or she'd get bored. Figment hated being bored.

Kipenzi whinnied in surprise when Figment shouted out her idea. She smiled though, after hearing it. Catching butterflies? She had never done that before, and it sounded fun! Her grin widened as she responded to Figment's eagerness. "Sure! That sounds like great fun!" Suddenly, she realized something. "But... where are all the butterflies?" She cocked her head in confusion, wondering how she could possibly catch what she couldn't see.

Figment trotted around a few moments to wear off her sudden energy that came from her excitement. "Great!" she smiled happily.

Figment's ears pirked up at the next question and her head tilted. Butterflies... she thought.

She always went to this one place in the grasslands. Figment didn't even know really what this place was. She just knew that many butterflies made their home there. "I know this one place." she continued to grin. "Should we go right away?"

Kipenzi grinned, excited. Catching butterflies sounded like great fun to the lonely mare that had come so far from the grasslands. This was it! This was what she had come for. New friends, fun and excitement... it was all she had dreamed of, all she had ever wanted, and now it was... it was here. And she was happy.

"Sure! Right away sounds great!" She smiled. Instantly, she wondered where Figment was going to take her. Over the mountains? Through the rolling hills? Into a valley? But in reality, she didn't care. She had a friend! That was all that mattered.

Figment hoped that getting there wouldn't take too long. It was a little ways away, but she didn't have as much patience today that she usually had because today she had a friend along. "Alrighty! Let's go this way." she told Kipenzi, taking the lead. Hoping that she'd like where they were going later, she headed in the direction of where many spiders made their nests first. Figment didn't necessarily like spiders all that much, but it was needed to go there so they could make their nets.

"So are you afraid of spiders at all?" she asked the mare. If worst came worst, she'd just have to make Kipenzi's net for her. Figment had no problem with that at all. It's what friends do. They grossed the blue horse out, but it was a must if you wanted a net for catching butterflies. All you did was make your net out of a piece of a tree branch and spider webs. The butterflies would get stuck in the web and with a little help, could break free again.
