Hey, everyone!

I'm starting this topic because I want to know what your views are with the opposing Satan and God issue. Basically I just want your opinion if good and evil and light and dark can co-exist any of the other overpowering each other.

For example, I'm a very religious person and I'm also the OHS (Overall Head Servant) of my Youth Group, but I wear dark clothing that people these days would assume I'm satanic. I listen to mostly Metal, which for some reason most are satanic, like Behemoth, but I also enjoy listening to Gospel/Religious Songs like the band Kutless (Ever heard of them? They're really good!).

I also enjoy reading books that have different opinions and views of Religion and books that simply go against religion (Like the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons), as well as reading the bible and books that inspire our Faith.

So, my view exactly is that I believe that both can live together, and as long as I remain strong to my Faith in God, Satan can't take me.

I know that the way I'm living is on the edge because I'm exposing myself to things that can steer me away from the right path. But by doing this I feel stronger and more faithful to God. Kind of like those immune shots . . .

Here's my answer: moderation in all things and know where to draw the line.

Wearing dark clothes was originally a sign of mourning, and even now, it doesn't mean your satanic. It's fashion. Fashion that doesn't inspire lust or other sin is just a material thing that doesn't matter to our spiritual lives.

Listening to metal - well, that's where moderation comes in... Supporting satanic music (in regards to those bands that are actually satanic) is not exactly advisable, but there's little or nothing wrong with metal in itself. Personally, I'm fond of Demon Hunter!! Metal with a Christian message - you can't go wrong.

And understanding different viewpoints on religion is a good thing, so long as your careful to stay within the limits of what your faith can handle. Did you know that Dan Brown considers himself a Christian?

Opposites have to co-exist other wise things stagnate, there's no change and nothing moves forward. Likewise without opposites it's hard to appreciate things for what they truly are. How could we fully understand God's love and mercy if there was no sin.

On a more personal scale what you do so long as it doesn't cause you to sin is up to you however as a youth leader you have to take into consideration the impact of your actions on those you lead. Paul made the point that everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial. You don't want to become a stumbling block for those who know you.

without someone such as satan for God to have to stop, what reason would God have to be there? i beleive that it is not possible for 2 likes to co-exist because eventually, there will be disagreements. that is exactly what happened to make lucifer evil. he beleived he was better than God so he pretty much became his enemy.

come on! roll a 7!

you must know your own limits.

I belive that clothing has nothing to do with religion. (Except for when you dress modestly for God). My husband thinks that if you are Goth you are automatically Satanic. I told him there are Christian Goths and he basically said there is no such thing as the two words contradict. He thinks it's an oxymoron.

I think he's silly.
