 Late spring. Warmth, sheer heat was something he hated. He wasn’t made for the summer months and the temperatures that came with them. He often wished that he could sleep through the warm seasons like many other animals did the cold ones. He often slept the days away and only ventured out at night when the sun was sleeping.
However today was just to uncomfortable hot for him to do that. Trying to sleep was a useless attempt as he would wake feeling musty and sticky from sweat. His fur was a think winter coat year round so it wasn’t any surprise that he was always to uncomfortable this time of year. Sighing lightly into the breeze as he sat at the entrance to his den, an old rabbit burrow that he had found. It was cooler under ground but today it was not enough. Perhaps he would go for a swim? Living at the edge of the forest and near the beach had it’s advantages.
Moving slowly he rose to his feet and headed toward the open beach area. It wasn’t a far walk and took him no more then fifteen or twenty minutes. The warm sand between his toes was a welcome feeling as he quickly padded across it and dived into the water, his broom, scarf, pipe and hat left on the beach.

 Enjoying the pleasant spring day Rain padded softly through the forest, dodging trees with the ease a long practice. She soon found herself at the beach. Startled she snickered at herself. ‘And here I was just telling Diamond that it was to early in the year to go swimming,’ she thought shaking her head.
Walking out onto the sand she paused and looked up. ‘It is unusually warm today, maybe a swim would be a good idea.’ Mind made up she headed towards the water. She froze at the sight of another Tae. “Hello,” she called out hoping not to startle him.

Frosty smiled as he enjoyed the cold water, and boy it was cold. Again due mostly to his think fur and endurance for the cold. He was lost to the world for a few minutes before his ears perked at the sound of a voice calling hallo to him. Turning his head he looked to the female on the beach, staring a moment at her interesting markings before giving a friendly smile. “ Morning and hello to you. ” He could see his nose as he spoke wiggle and bob up and down a little. He hope the odd orange thing didn’t frighten her for make her laugh at him. Most others he had met either laugh at it or ran away from him.

Rain smiled back at him. She walked the rest of the way to the water and placed a paw in to test the tempter. Startled she jerked back. ‘It’s so cold, how can he stand it?’ Gathering her wits together she sat on the wet sand just out of reach of the waves. “My name is Rain. To whom do I have the pleasure of speaking?”

He was a little surprised when the female remained, even coming closer to him as he floated in the water. He noted that she smiled rather them laughing as well. He was happy about this and in turn his smile grew to show it. Slowly he moved closer to the shore, though he made sure that he remained mostly under the surface of the cooling water. “ I’m Frosty, it’s a pleasure to finally meet someone in these parts. Did you come for a swim, I'd love to have company. ”

Rain ducked her head shyly. “It’s nice to meet you Frosty.” She move closer letting the waves lap a her feet. She regarded him curiously. “I’m afraid that the water is to cold for me to go swimming, as much as I would like to.”

From her comment he gathered that her coat was not as thick or warm as his own. Most others didn’t tend to have the same warm fur as he. He wondered how she faired in winter when the temperatures dropped to there lowest. As an attempt to be polite he moved forwards more, pulling himself from ocean and onto the shore to her side. “ I tend to find the water here wonderful this time of year, nice and cold. It’s a nice cooling treat on such a hot day, I just can’t take this heat sometimes. ”

“You’re a snow Tae, ” she said excitedly. She raised a paw to stroke his fur but let it drop embarrassed. “Not to be rude but why are you here? Most snow Tae’s live where its cold all year.” She walked around him examining his coat. “You have a very beautifully coat, Frosty.”

He chuckled a lightly as he watched her eyeing him. He didn't think he was all the interesting or different but maybe he was. " Why thank you, I think yours is more beautiful, but thank you. " He took a seat on the sand, refraining from shacking the water from his fur so he didn't get her wet. " I think it's prettier here, snow can be pretty but it gets dull. It's always the same. "

Rain looked down at herself. “My coat isn’t anything special, I’m just an ordinary snow leopard.” She laughed softly. “I guess its all a matter of option. I like snow its so pretty and only around for a short time.” She looked around. “Then again it can be very pretty here to.”

He nodded lightly to her comment, his green eyes on her golden ones. “ Yes I think you’re right. It is a matter of option. I just find it to be boring when there’s nothing but snow year round. Also I forgot to mention that it’s harder to find food in the snowy mountains then it is down here. With no plants there’s not many animals that can survive up there. ” He grinned a little as he thought about all the different foods he’d come across since leaving the snowy terrain. " But with this whether I may have to return for a few days. This coat isn't really make for the heat. Just can't find anywhere thats cool enough to hide on days like today. "

Rain shuddered at his mention of a lack a food. “I guess I wont be moving to the mountains then, I wouldn’t want my son to starve.” She pawed lightly at the sand in front of her in indecision. ‘Diamond might like to see the snow again and if not he’s no longer a child and can take care of himself.’ Decision made she nervously asked, “If you do go would you like some company?”

He was a little taken back by her question but his smile quickly spread wider then ever. “ I’d love company to be truthful, gets lonely up there some times. ” He chuckled to himself a little. Lonely was an understatement really. In all his years he’d never met another snow Tae. It was one of the other reasons he’d left the mountains. His kind seemed to be rare to come by. “ So you have a son? ”

Rain smiled softly at him. Lonely, she could understand that, she had been lonely before that day. A fond look crossed her face at the question about her son. “Diamond, I fond him last winter all alone and took him in.”

“ Oh my, what happened to his family? It was very kind of you to take one that was not your own in as if he was. ” He had a respect for anyone that would do that. It took someone with a great kindness and good heart to take a child that was not of there own blood to do such a thing. “ Perhaps then, if you come with me, he could join you? ”
