Aphrodite swam aimlessly around the sea surrounding the sunken ship, where her new home was. Recent events had led her to join a pod led by a female named Athari, but while she knew that a pod was rather like a family, she wasn't sure what to do. Athari hadn't given her very specific instructions, and the pod still didn't have all that many members. She had begun to wonder what she was supposed to be doing.
Vifunguo, unlike Aphrodite, knew exactly what he was supposed to be doing. It was his job to train young whales on how to serve Maachio'Machwa, as well as in the ways of combat. There was a little problem, though. There were no young whales to train! As such, Vi felt no need to hang about in the arena where they would live once they arrived. He had been swimming about in the open sea for only a few minutes when a bright whale caught his eye.
"Hello there, miss!" He called out, quickly swimming towards her, doing his best to seem cheerful so that he could convince her to join the pod.
Aphrodite perked up at the noise and was startled to see such an eerie looking whale approaching her.
"Oh! Hello to you too." She said softly, "My name is Aphrodite. And who might you be?"
"I am Vifunguo, humble priest of Maachio'Machwa." He nodded, "Have you heard of the whale god, miss?" He asked, quite sure that she hadn't.
Her eyes widened excitedly at the mention of the name. "Oh! Oh yes, I have heard of him! Has Athari spoken with you as well? How lovely, we're in the same pod together! I had begun to wonder if I was the only one." She spoke quickly, clearly quite glad to have met someone who she shared her pod with. "You're a priest? Wow, what an honor!"
"I, uh, really?" Vi was in shock, but quickly recovered. "Yes, Athari has brought me into the service of the whale god." He nodded, deciding that there was no need to convince her of his greatness as she clearly already thought quite highly of him. "Pardon me, but I didn't know that there were any females in our pod just yet."
"Yes, it is rather lonely." She shook her head. "Aside from Athari, you are the first pod member that I have met. I do wish that I knew what I should be doing to help." She waved a fin lazily, "It is rather boring being all alone."
"Hm? You have not been given instructions on what to do?" Vi tilted his head.
"Not really." She sighed, "She told me to tell anyone who came around about our pod and try to make them stay, but nobody has come by. I feel so useless..."
"Well then, I might just have a job for you." Vi smiled, "I know of a sure way that you and I can increase our numbers, and I'm sure that Athari will be pleased with your for your help."
"Oh!" Aphrodite perked up, "Yes please! Anything I can do to help, I'd be willing to do it! Tell me what I can do, and I'll help in any way I can." She nodded excitedly.
"Perfect." Vi touched her fin gently with his, "Come with me, and we may begin this... Service for the pod." He smirked and led her off, feeling as if this was almost too easy.
