Cada wasn't feeling good today, he had woken with aches and pains all over his body. The groaning alerting his parental figure into his room who looked him over a couple of times. There was nothing he could report off hand so instructed the child to lay in bed and rest. However, Cada was not the kind of child to remain in one place for too long and despite the dull aches and pains he managed to push himself out of bed and slip into his house shoes.

He shuffled into the common room looking around for his guardian who seemed to have left. Checking his room he found no one and checking other common areas of the home it had come to his attention he was alone. Rushing back into his room he quickly peeled his night cloths off and put on some day cloths, snagged his faithful stuffed toy and made a "B-line" for the front door.

Finally out into the day, the young dust child was happy to get some fresh air. Even though the pain had subsided a great deal it was still there. Like a needle at the back of his neck, shoulders and spine it hurt but not enough to draw his attention away from sweets. Hurrying to the nearest pastry shop he burst into the store with a ringing of the bell as he hopped up on the counter with glee. "I want the house special, Mister!" He beamed. The baker laughed heartily at the boy's exuberance and quickly produced a sweet mini cake he'd held to the side just for Cada. "As you wish." He offered with a smile.

Cada let out a peel of laughter reaching for the treat but he never made contact with it as his arm clenched and unclenched. He quickly used his other hand to steady his clenching arm. The pain was there, rough but nothing excruciating. The sweet treat fell to the floor in Cada's wake as he watched it he gave an alarmed yelp. The baker looked quizzically toward the young child then leaned over the counter to see the treat had not made its apposed destination. "You okay?" The backer asked noting the Cada's distress as his face was scrunch up in a form of mild to alarmed pain. Cada nodded kneeling to clean up the mess but as soon as he bent the pain in his back shot to the fore... as if needles were being poked into his nerves he gave a yelp and crumpled to the floor on his butt, tears stinging his eyes in frustrated agitation more than pain itself. The baker grew more concerned with the child removing his apron and coming around to the other side to inspect the child. Cada looked up with teary eyes unable to clutch his toy firmly in his arm he sniffled.

The baker sighed leaning down to lift the child with his toy and deposit him in one of the booths near the back of the bakery. "I'm callin' your papa. This isn't normal and he's a doctor he'll know what to do." Cada shot out his good arm halting the man. "Please... he'll fret over me too much and I won't get to play." The baker looked to Cada turning to the phone and back to Cada. "Alright just this once I'll let it slide but if you don't get any better with a little rest I"m calling him. You stay put for now..." Cada nodded as the baker went about his business. Ever so often he would eye the child with concern.

By this time the baker's wife had returned from the market with more supplies to cook their treats. As she entered she noticed her husband eyeballing Cada wearily and wondered of the child's solemn expression as he sat in the far booth. "What's going on here, little one?" She offered setting her satchel of groceries down as she slipped in the booth next to him. "Why the long face?"

Cada pouted even more clutching Mr. Happy with his good arm as he looked to the woman tears still glistening in his yellow-green orbs. "I hurt myself." He informed though this was not the case. Still it seemed the plausible answer for the nice lady. "You hurt yourself? How on earth did that happen?" She could take many guess with how wild the dust child could be but didn't offer any of her own. He sighed shortly after this and tried holding up his arm which was stiff. "I don't know, my arm won't move and my back is stinging. There's little people poking it with needles." He offered in a whisper as if it were a secret. The baker looked to the boy with concern then to his wife. He eyeballed the phone as if to tell her to make a phone call to his father.

Picking up on this she asked, "Why haven't you called your father? Shouldn't he be taking care of you?" Cada sighed looking away with slight shame. "He won't let me play if he finds out I'm hurt. I asked Bakerman not to tell. So I'll stay here to let my arm and back rest. When its all better I can go home and then tell him..." The baker's wife frowned then stood abruptly. "No such luck young man. I'm calling your father now! You can't sit here like this in pain... it's not healthy." And with that she was out of arm's length before Cada could grab her spilling out on the floor instead. He let out a yelp of pain from agitating his current state further. The stiffness in his arm sprinkling out like needles to join with his back. Soon he was crying the pain wasn't unbearable but the it aggravated him to no end. Enough to bring tears of frustration to his eyes. "No don't tell him!" He cried out, scooting along the floor in vain.

The woman eyed the child snorting. "Look at you, resort to such foolishness. Of course I'm calling. Honey close the shop for a while until his father comes, and prop him back up." she instructed. "I can't believe you'd let him sit here like this."

An hour had passed when Marijus was finally informed of his son's current state at a local baker. Grimacing at the news he growled into the phone making it apparent that he would be there shortly.

And shortly was an understatement. Within moments, Marijus was pounding the pavement heading into the bakery despite the closed sign. "Where is he?" He growled though he wasn't mad at the child his irritation was evident but he was most concerned. Finding Cada curled up in a booth his furrow of irritation became one of worry as he scooped the kid into his arms. "What happened to yae boy? You okay?" He questioned looking him over.

Cada flinched but only for a moment as he hurriedly cuddled into the strong arms that had him secured. "I sowwy... the needle people got me." He explained. Marijus looked to the baker and his wife who shook their heads with concern. They weren't certain what was going on but Marijus being a doctor should have a clue. "Alright lets get yae home kiddo. I'll examine you there." He informed securing Cada to him as he nodded to the baker and his wife.

"Oh please wait!" The baker called out. He quickly snagged another sweet cake putting it in a container and bagging it. "For when he gets better." He offered kindly. Marijus nodded breaking into a lopsided grin. Always with the sweets but he didn't mind. "Thank yae." He offered in return and slipped out of the shop headed for home. It was time to get to the bottom of this.

Having finally returned home Marijus immediately laid Cada in his bed for better comfort. Checking the boy's temperature and vitals upon instinct. Nothing showed out of the ordinary in that department so he moved on to other examinations. Taking the dust child's arm gently in hand he began to squeeze very gently in areas that often grew tender. Ever so often Cada would yelp drawing his arm back but Marijus would have none of that as he continued inspecting the boy's condition.

"Yae not bust nothing it just be sore for a while. I'll mix some inflammation medicine for it but yae got to be more careful, chile." He informed giving Cada a soft pat on his head. Tucking his arm back safely he placed Mr. Happy comfortably against the boy's chest. "How long dis been goin' on, Cada?" He asked with concern sitting sternly in a chair off to the side of the bed.

"Just today..." He muttered but the look he got left no room for evasiveness or lies. He gave a worried murmur but eventually answered correctly. "On an off for a month. At first it was short spells but today was longer than usual. My arm and back just seem to get stiff and it hurts to even move." He ducked low in the comforters. "The pain is never unbearable but it's so annoying that I can't think straight some times. One of the town folks said I was being punished for how silly I act... is that true?"

"Hogwash... don't listen to people. It's a normal pain I'm sure... maybe for your type." Marijus offered. "Yae not like the rest of us so maybe yae have different pains to indicate growth. Either way just stay in bed for a while til yae better. No playing! Nae let ya out when yae better no fuss..." Poking the child's nose he stood giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Gonna make supper soon, yae just rest for now. I'll have a talk with the clinic on yae condition to be certain this isn't a new illness we should worry 'bout." With that he gave one last glance to the child before heading to the door, flicking off the lights but leaving the door open for light to spill in from the hall he hurriedly went to the phone calling Becca the first chance he got.
