The skies over head were dreary and gray. Thunder rolled in the distance and the scent of rain flowed with the wind that blew across the land. There would be a storm before dawn.
Nariko trudged along, she had no where to be and no one to see. Her red locks of mane and tail twisting, blown by the wind in all directions. She didn't care. Her steps fell quietly on the earth, not that she was trying to be stealthy, it came with her training. Go unseen, unheard, unknown.
She stopped abruptly as a hare scampered across her path, she snorted a bit and mumbled at the creature for having interupted her steady pace. It wouldn't be long and she would need to find shelter and a place to bed down for the night. The thought of sleeping in a mud puddle didn't appeal to the mare.
She turned to head towards the base of the mountains. Surely she would find a cave or some suitable shelter there.

 There had once been a beautiful glade in this part of the Mountians. Resting between two stone legs where a waterfall pitched out of the walls. There had been trees, lush emerald green grass and the water had been like diamonds. Now it was a wasteland. The trees were rotten and dead, the grass shrivelled up, brown and missing in large patches. Water was thick, brown slag. Fish floated on the surface. Nu'man drank in the scent of rot and death. Ah, such sweet perfume. He pawed at the ground, grinning as the ground became bloodstained and crumbled into sand. "So beautiful..." Too bad there wasn't a mare here to complete the scene.

Moving at a slightly quicker than normal pace, Nariko found herself close the base of the mountain. She thought she had remembered the area well, but something...something had changed. She was yet to be able to put her hoove on it though.
Making her way closer, a scent on the wind. Foul, almost like the smell of a rotting corpse. Nariko's nose wrinkled and her ears pricked forward. "Something's not right," she thought to herself. Surely she hadn't forgotten the way and had gotten lost?
Further in, a new scent. She stopped, her eyes peering over the scene. It was a stallion, she thought. Her eyes briefly caught a flash of red, she focused realizing that it was the horns of a stallion drinking from the, well, water. A disgusted look crossed her face.
"Kalona." she thought to herself, she recognized his features. The horns, the wings. There was no mistaking his breed.

Blood red eyes came up to center on the mare. "Speaking of beautiful mares..." Those eyes roamed over the female. More then one set of wings, long red mane and tail, odd wrappings. "I was just wishing to see one."
He gave himself a small shake and pranced up to her. "What brings you to my realm, lovely?" Nu'man arched his neck and flagged his tail.

She stood still, her muscles rippled slightly under her coat. "Then you should continue wishing, I'm only passing." She held her head high, her eyes following the stallion as he approached.
"Foul creature," she thought as she looked over 'his' realm. The stallion looked almost like death itself, she snorted.
"Find another 'lovely' to chat up, I dont' deal with your kind."

"You're dealing with one by talking to him." Nu'man continued in a circle around her. Rotting away the soil under his hooves. It would make an almost complete circle around Nariko.
He grinned. "I am Nu'man. You would be...?"

Nariko's eyes watched as the earth rotted away beneathe the hooves of the stallion. Her interest was perked if nothing else.
She had thoughts of just walking past him, finding her shelter before the rains...but her curiousity kept her. At least for a bit longer.
"Nariko." she answered. Her ears flicked quickly. "I suppose a conversation wouldn't hurt," her eyes left the soil and reached up, meeting Nu'man's gaze again. "Try anything...anything, and there will be trouble."
She was fiesty for a mare, that was one thing for certain. One of her first lessons, never show fear to the enemy.

His eyes flew wide open in a mockery of innocence at her words. "Now, my lady Nariko, why in the heavens would I want to try anything with you?" The grin that followed was almost evil. He twitched his braided tail as he chuckled. "That would a waste of such a lovely sight."
