Okay. This is called American Courage...
Why is it up to the soldiers
To save our lives?
Why is it up to the soldiers for them to die?
Why can't we just take a stand?
Show some courage,
And fight the man
We're Americans too
Can't you see that?
What's wrong with you?
We say we need this
And we say we want that
Why don't we just take a stand
And get if off our backs?
Don't leave it up to soldiers
Or the troops
It isn't just their country
It's our country too.
Korea's after us
And Iraq's gone wild.
It's up to us to save our lives!!
We're Americans too
Are you listenin’?
I'm talking to you.
We say we're egotistic
Then take some control
We gotta take a stand
Every once in a while,
Fight for what's right
Make our fore-father's proud!
We stereotype people
Make them feel bad,
We should join together
And figure this out!
Gas prices are through the roof
And everything’s imported
Our clothing is proof!
Why can't we just take a stand?
Show what we believe in
That we're the man
We can't just depend on everyone else
It's time to depend on us, ourselves.
Everyone calls us too opiniated
I don’t' see how that can be.
We never take a stand
Not even for what we believe in
Christianity is unheard of
In schools and jobs now
What a shame it is though
That we can't take a stand
No one fights for what they believe in
No one seems to care
I'm tired of this it has to stop
We have to show 'em who's on top.
Courage is a mighty thing
That's what everyone says
Then apparently America lacks courage
Yeah, that's what I said
They teach us evolution
They take it all away
Christmas is 'uncool' to most teachers nowadays
We need to take a stand
You know?
Is anyone out there?
Does anyone still believe
That we can take a stand?
Does anyone still think out there
That we may stand a chance
Fighting as we may?
What happened to world peace?
And stopping global hunger?
Why are those dreams forgotten?
While dreams of war are born
Fighting's not the answer
It only makes things worse
But it's all that we have left
Because we can't take a stand...
Why is it up to the soldiers to fight for us and die?
You see it on the news
That there’s another one gone by
You change the channel
And shake your head
"Too bad… Another dead"
It's time to take a stand
And not just sit around
We need to get out there
And do our country proud
Freedom is supposed to be
What we live by here
But if we don't soon take a stand
We will live by fear.
Everyone's out to get us
We're on the verge of being broke
But when faced with a challenge
All we do is choke
Just take a stand
Not for me or for you
For both of us and our country too.

Wowo, that was very motivating. ^^ Quite a good job.
Oh, and by the way, America is broke. We've got to be more than $8 billion in the hole. xD And the statistics with the Iraq war is bringing us under more by about a million a day I think...if I heard right...something like that. *shrugs*
But good job, nice poem~

you have actually got me in tears, this is amazing. I wish I could write like this, shivers down my spine when I read this. My fiancee is in the US Navy in Japan, not like Iriaq but still, so this is the poem that when I read it reminds me of him. Thank you. smile
