Silly how the little things could make you feel young again.

Taavi hummed under his breath, again checking his teeth and hair in a mirror. It never hurt to make sure you looked all right. Better to do it now than later, when he might look pompous or self centered.

All right, old man. Breathe.

He shook his head after a moment, chuckling, and picked up the small box from his passenger seat. He'd parked far enough away from Barry's home that hopefully it wouldn't bother any local wee people.

Did urisks mind cars? What if they didn't like them? Maybe he'd insult him by bringing a car so close to his home?

Breathe, old man. Breathe.

After a bit of a walk, he was on Barry's doorstep. There wasn't anything to do now except knock. Which he did, of course.

Barry was still checking himself out in the mirror when Taavi knocked. He gave his teeth a last finger-scrub and walked past Quinn and the new babysitter, playing with Legos in the living room. He gave the young woman a little smile and then opened the door.

"Hi," he smiled.

"Hey." Taavi grinned back. The man smiled for a minute, then offered him the small box.

"Here. I was out shopping and saw this, thought of you." Another pause. "Poseidon, I'm bad at this." Tee hee, silly man.

Poseidon. Barry made a slightly annoyed mental note at that, discarded it, and took the box. He peered inside, shook his head, and promptly offered it back.

"I can't accept this..."

Taavi tipped his head slightly.

"Why not?" Then, quickly. "Sorry if I offended you."

A smile broke Barry's face. How polite!

"Oh, no, no! Not at all. I just...I can't let you spend money on me. Not this early on." Wink! Oh, Barry, you coy little thing.

And Taavi ceased to look worried. Ah, Barry, you were about six shades of adorable.

"Well, then." He grinned. "I'll have to remember that." Of course, he was thinking of ways to leave the little baubles with Barry, but, hey. It was how he worked.

"Shall we go?"

Barry nodded, but took one last moment to look back at the babysitter.

"Now, don't take any of its tantrums, Abby. It likes to fake them." And then back to Taavi.

"Yes. Thank you."

Taavi smiled, stepping back out onto the porch.

"I hope you don't mind a bit of a walk. I didn't want to disturb anything, I know some fairies don't like automobiles, so I parked a bit away."

Barry gave a little 'chuh' of laughter.

"They live behind the house, in the hills. Even then, the most they would do is pop your tires." As if that wasn't anything at all.

"Needless to say, I tend to ride a bicycle or take public transportation."

Taavi chuckled, low and rich.

"Well, Barry. I tend to be well prepared, but even I don't keep four spare tires. So, I'm glad I parked away." He smiled, looking up at the sky. "I usually do as well. I live more in town, so it's easier to get from place to place by walking or public transport. However, I decided that you wouldn't like to go out to eat on the handlebars of a bike." He laughed again. Happy Taavi.

"Sure I would!" Barry laughed, "I mean, why not? It's exciting. Never knowing if you're going face-first into the dirt, the wind in your hair, everything..." Oh, Barry was happy too. He enjoyed the companionship of someone with just as unique a mind as his.

"See, that's why I didn't bring it." Taavi explained, grinning. "I wouldn't want you to go flying into the dirt. And I'm a horrible biker, so...." He shrugged. Barry was too cute to get scraped up.

His car was small, very fuel efficient, and quite ugly. It was simple and brown and small, and somewhat looking like a box.

"So, I think we agreed on dinner and a walk on the beach, to be completely stereotypical?"

Barry's grin turned to a simple smile. Awww. How sweet.

"Only if we can go swimming."

"Of course." Taavi said, holding open Barry's door for him. "Trust me, you never have to goad me into swimming. No matter how much I change, I'm still a water man."
